Your stats make me think you should try and jack up 25 3s per game, and rely on fast break otherwise. You aren't shooting that bad from out there and you may just not be athletic enough to pound the ball or rely on midrange shots.

Screw the halfcourt sets. You were in the game in at least half of those losses. At least you guys will sell a lot of tickets.

Screw the halfcourt sets. You were in the game in at least half of those losses. At least you guys will sell a lot of tickets.
One magazine that I read said that the team was built to put up about 80 shots a game, with about half coming from 3-point range. I guess that trying to make them more conventional wasn't a good idea. I think that for the rest of the season I'll set them back up to a run-and-gun style and start working on a conventional style offense with my next school. I can still salvage the season if the team gets on any kind of a roll.

Actually, I forgot that you were gonna do that. Heck, stick with it. You are still in the conference hunt as it is.

EDIT: Y'know, Bob Knight would just run the system he wanted. Have you looked through the plays to see what sets give you the best 3-point looks? Maybe you could use some perimeter heavy sets in Motion or Princeton offenses. My best looks with Jarvis at ORU were when the post kicked it back out for the 3.

You better believe that Bob Knight would only have it HIS way or the highway!

I tried it with a fast tempo, high fast break offense and the results are mixed. The team shot 37% from the floor (28-74) but only 21% from 3-point range (4-19). They were getting better looks from beyond the arc with the flex offensive playbook plus my team's leading scorer, Reggie Williams, shot under 25% (5-23). The game was close and both teams put up around 75 shots apiece. Of course, one game is not a good sample. I will try it in my next game and then decide. It's a road game against Coastal Carolina, my second Big South matchup.

BTW, my first shot taken was by Brownfield, my starting power forward. He had a wide open 3pter and it went in.

LOL! Sounds like you are headed for heart problems this season either way!
