    Top Storylines

    1. Trade Deadline is Approaching

The trade deadline is only 2 weeks away, and moves are expected. The team most expected to make a move is the Bulls. Sitting in 14th, the Bulls are basically out of the playoff hunt and want to reload some of their players. They might be interested in Rudy Fernandez of the Blazers who has been constantly voicing his opinion publicly, and angering the Portland front office.

Another team that wants to make a move is the Houston Rockets. The team isn't working right now in 11th place, and big man Yao Ming is injured again and again. Could he be on the move? We don't know but if so, many would love to have him. In the next two weeks the landscape of the NBA could change, as teams look to load and unload.

    2. Teams surging in the East

After sluggish starts, the Celtics and 76ers are flying up the Eastern Conference Standings. The Celtics, who were at 10th place last month, have finally gotten above .500, and are into the playoff picture. After the Collison trade, Boston has played it's best basketball and look to get into the middle of the contenders in the East.

The 76ers have recently been on fire, and are back near the top of the list in the East. After the Arenas trade, the 76ers still couldn't find their groove, and were stuck in 12th place in the East. Now Arenas seems to fit perfectly as Philly sits in 7th place. The trio of Gilbert, Iverson, and Igoudala have been frustrating teams. Not all things are great for the Sixers though, it seems as though Igoudala is feuding with coaches, and they are not happy with him.

    3. The NBA better be ready for a Thunderstorm

Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder have captured first place in the West, and are lately on fire. The Thunder have beaten both the Mavericks and Nuggets in the last two weeks, and definitely look like the team to beat in the West. Only 4 games back from first place in the NBA behind the Nets, the Thunder claim this is their goal. With the Nets struggling as of late, it may be possible.

      Game of the Week

      @

      88 - 77

Mavs Spurn Magic, Overtake 1st Place in the West

When this a started Monday Night at the Amway Center, both teams were place 2nd in their respective conferences. 48 minutes later, things changed as the Mavericks took it to Orlando, and eventually overtaking OKC as 1st place in the West.

The Mavericks came ready to play from the beginning behind the Big Diesel. He got an early offensive rebound, absorbed contact by Dwight Howard, finished and made the free throw. Then the next trip down the floor he received a pass from Kidd and flushed it over Dwight, and getting him a really early 2nd foul. With Howard gone, the middle was open and the Mavericks took advantage. Shaq had 8 points in the first, and Dirk followed with 7. The rebounding advantage was easily in the Mavericks favor with Superman gone, and so was the score with the Mavericks up 26-13 after one.

The Magic's offense was abysmal in the first half. There was no inside game, and only launching 3's which would not go down. The Magic were 2/15 from beyond the arc in the first half, which helped the Mavericks coast. Their lead stretched to 19 by the time Dwight went back in with 5 minutes left in the first half. While with Dwight the Magic competed better, the Mavs were still dominating the scoreboard. By the end of the 2nd quarter the Maverick lead was 46-30.

The story of the 3rd quarter was the amount of Magic turnovers. Nelson individually had 4 in the period, and the team combined for 9. Dallas went on a 12-4 run to start the quarter and took a commanding 58-34 lead. Orlando would respond with a flurry of 3's by Lewis, Pietrus, and Carter. Howard started having an affect on the game with 8 points on the quarter. The Magic had crawled back in it by the time the quarter had ended only trailing by 15.

In the final quarter, the Magic continued to heat up from beyond the arc. Nelson hit two consecutive three's, and Carter joined in with one of his own. The lead was down to 8 midway through the final period, when Dirk Nowitzki went on a personal 7-0 run that seemed to close the game with the Mavs holding a 15 point lead. The Magic would attempt to mount a comeback getting with 9, but eventually the Mavericks were just too much as they won the inter-conference battle 88-77.

Nowitzki was the leading scorer of the Mavericks with 24, with Josh Howard adding 17, and Shaquille O'Neal scoring 15. Dwight lead the Magic with 17 and 9, and Rashard Lewis had 16. The Mavericks overtake 1st place in the West, while the Magic are still holding on to the two spot in the East, trailing the Nets by 7.5 games.

          NBA All-Star Game

          117-113

West Top East in All-Star Showdown; Jefferson Takes Home MVP Honors

The stars were shining Sunday Night during the 2011 All-Star game. The game followed a suprising upset in which the Rookies knocked out the Sophomores, 99-93 on Friday Night. In this game, we were presented with a plethera of alley-oops, big slams, flashy passes, and just plain stupid plays.

Al Jefferson had 25 points for the West, in only 26 minutes, and won the MVP award. Jefferson was key in the Western Conference's victory with 10 points in the final quarter. Many others contributed to the victory with Chris Paul dishing out 11 assists, Durant adding 19, and Kobe managing a solid 16. Durant hit the big 3 to take a 5 point lead, and eventually Chris Paul hit free throws to seal the deal.

For the East, LeBron James lead all scorers with 23. He had 12 in the first quarter with three 3's, and then eventually cooled off. Bosh dropped 18, and Rondo helped out with 11 points and 9 rebounds. The play of the night had to be late in the 1st quarter when Rondo was driving, and threw a blind alley-oop to the King, LeBron James. James caught it mid-air and slammed it in Dirk Nowitzki's face.

Now that the All-Star break is over, the second half of the season starts. Late season runs, collapses, injury, and drama are sure to appear as the playoffs approach.

thanks for following. im trying my best with Utah. I think the Kevin Martin trade is great for them, as their backcourt is tough to maintain, and now there really fun to play with.

                Trade Alert

                Knicks Receive: Steve Nash

Steve Nash has a 2 year/17 million dollar contract

Suns Receive: Jared Jeffries, and Chris Duhon

Jared Jeffries has a 1 year/8 million dollar contract. Chris Duhon has a 1 year/3 million dollar contract.[/IMG]

Why the Knicks did it: The Knicks made a clear point with this trade. They want to win a championship now, and with Kemba Walker and Chris Duhon as your point guard it's not going to happen. So they decided to take on Steve Nash, and his 2 year contract, to give him and this Knick squad a better chance at winning the championship. Nash played for D'Antoni with the Suns where they were very successful.

Why the Suns did it: Let's be serious, this Suns team has no future. No future stars, and they are lead by an aging star point guard. With 22 straight losses, they realized Steve Nash couldn't win a championship. So they sent him to where he could in New York, and got rid of his 2 year deal, and took on two expiring contracts. This should give the Suns plenty of cap flexibility in what may be a very good free agent class.

                Dallas Receives: Luol Deng

Luol Deng has a 4 year/ 51 million dollar contract

Chicago Receives: Josh Howard, Matt Carroll, and '11 first round selection

Josh Howard has a 3 year/18 million dollar contract and Matt Carroll has a 2 year/ 6 million dollar contract

Why Dallas did it:The trouble-making forward Josh Howard wasn't cutting it for the Mavericks and Mark Cuban, who thinks Luol Deng is an upgrade at the position. The Mavs believe this may be the last time for them to win a championship with Dirk, so the draft pick is almost meaningless to them. Deng has been struggling this year, but the Mavericks believe it is because the team is collapsing and he will be thrilled to have been moved to a contender.

Why Chicago did it:The Bulls management was not happy with Luol Deng. They believe after he signed his big contract that he was not playing to the best of his ability, so they thought he had to go. Dallas agreed to take his contract of Chicago's books in return for Josh Howard, who the Bulls believe isn't a down grade from Deng, and Matt Carroll, a throw-in bench warmer. The first round pick should be late but the Bulls could get a solid player at that spot.

This is pretty cool. I actually just got the game and noticed when simming that it seems like everyone ends up very average. I didn't see a single team over 54 wins. I took control of the bulls with the current rosters cleared deng and hinrich so in the offseason had enough for bosh wade and james to go with rose and noah. This team started 5-4 what gives??? So basically I am wondering what if there is a good slider set or various options that you edit.

                  Thanks.

Well team chemistry has a lot to do with it most likely. If you add so many players, players overall will decrease because of team chemistry. So what you really need to do is make sure everybody is happy with their role and minutes. I do wish this game made the records better.

It really is great. I am planning on doing this for MLB 2K10 once I get in like a month and possibly writing about it here. Best feature in the game, and I wish every game had it.

                        New-Look Mavs Stifle Bobcats Defensively

After the first quarter the Bobcats were embarrassed with their offensive effort. They had managed a measly 12 points, and forced 7 turnovers. The Mavs held a 23-12 lead, in their first game at home since the Luol Deng transaction, and looked once again like the elite team they are.

In Deng's first appearance at Dallas, he got off to a solid 1st quarter, leading the Mavs in scoring with 8. Jason Kidd rattled the Bobcats with 4 steals in the opening period. Twice on fastbreaks he swiped the ball away from an easy lay-up, and for every steal he turned it into an easy 2 points on the other end. Stephen Jackson and Gerald Wallace were missing easy shots, and Tyson Chandler even missed a dunk. The Bobcats were handing the game over early into the game.

In the second quarter, the 'Cats scratched and clawed their way back into the game by putting up a good defensive effort of their own, only giving up 16 points in the quarter, and eventually tying the game up at the half. Jackson had 9 in the half, and found ways to pick apart the 2-3 zone the Mavericks decided to go with. At the half it was all knotted up at 39.

The third quarter was a back and forth see-saw, with 6 lead changes. Dirk Nowitzki who only managed 4 in the first half, scored 10 in the quarter and was unmatched by the Bobcats. Still, Charlotte stuck with the Mavs with a trio of 3's, and a solid showing inside by Chandler and DeMarcus Cousins. Luol Deng started to pick it up once again, scoring 6 straight points near the end of the quarter to grab a 5 point lead.

In the final quarter, the Mavericks shined. It was the Jason Kidd show as he grabbed another 4 steals, making it 8 for the game, and dished out several assists (12 assists total) for easy lay-ups. Felton struggled with Kidd all night as he would intercept his passes, and drive by him offensively. The Mavericks built a 12 point lead, and nobody on the Bobcats could shrink it. Eventually the game ended 85-73, and the Mavericks had beaten Charlotte in their first game back after the trade.

The Mavericks are currently in 1st place, but are missing sharp shooter Jason Terry. Charlotte stands in 8th right now, hanging on for their playoff spot for dear life.

James' Season High 41 Points Leads Nets to Win

LeBron James has been criticizing his team for it's effort recently after a bunch of losses. His team got the message, and James delivered, in the 10 point victory in this Eastern Conference Showdown.

The Knicks controlled most of the 1st quarter, with the Nets struggling to hit shots. Nash was making plays all over the court, and setting up teammates for easy shots. LeBron was playing well, and by the time the period had ended has totaled 7 points. Still Nash had helped New York take a 23-20 lead.

New Jersey responded with a 11-0 run to open the second quarter, mainly with LeBron starting to dominate. He had Chris Bosh covering him, and he exploited the mismatch. On one possession, poor Brad Miller was forced to guard him and LBJ exploded by him for a two handed slam. The Nets fastbreak game was alive, and they were knocking down transition 3's. Still it was all LeBron as he finished the half, with a jam in the middle of traffic at the buzzer, finishing the half with 23 points. The Knicks trailed by 9 at the half, and looked like they would be out of this one soon.

Chris Bosh refused to let the Knicks go away though, and at the start of the second half, started taking LeBron off the dribble. He started the half with 6 straight points, and eventually got the Knicks within 2. Then Keyon Dooling, the unlikely hero of this game, caught fire and hit three straight 3's and a mid-range J. Nash tried his hardest to answer, but could only manage one three, and the Nets once again looked like they were going to cruise. LeBron made Net fans feel even better, by once again coming up big at the buzzer with a deep 3, and extending the lead to 11.

With the lead at 11, the Knicks proceeded to cut into it in the 4th. Bosh continued to score, eventually dropping 22 and the game, and Nash found McGrady for a 3. But just as it looked as though the Knicks would catch up, Wade hit a 3 of his own, and then stole the ball from Wilson Chandler for an easy dunk. The Knicks couldn't recover, and with LeBron playing like a mad man, the Nets took the game 112-102.

LeBron once again took apart the Knicks, something he's been known to do. His stat line was 41 points and 10 rebounds, and he was helped by Wade who dropped in 22. Bosh lead the Knicks with 22 also, and Nash had a monster game with 18 points and 18 assists. The Nets lead in first is now 9.5 games, and the number 1 seed is basically locked up.

and whats going on with Tyreke being injured so much?
