Ya the Kings have been hit with tons on injuries. Evans with the broken wrist, Motiejunas and Hawes both injured at the same time, plus Nocioni was out for some time. While they might not make it this year, this team has a bright future, especially if they can get a good draft pick.

Hornets Take Care of Bulls in Chicago

Before tip-off in Chicago, the Bulls were currently in 11th, only a couple games out of 8th place, and the Hornets were in 9th, only a game back from a playoff spot. The two teams on the fringe of the playoffs needed a win tonight to get closer to their goal.

The Bulls got off to a great start, thanks to Derrick Rose running the show. After every missed Hornet shot, the Bulls were running. Rose had 5 assists in the opening quarter, finding Salmons and Josh Howard spotting up, or Boozer and Noah running the break. The Hornets stayed close though, with David West scoring 8 early, and Ray Allen hitting a 3 to bring the Hornets within 5. The score after 12 minutes was 27-22, the Bulls.

The next quarter the Bulls collapsed. Salmons went 0-5, and Howard went 1-6. Rose was either turning it over, or forcing bad shots, and Boozer nor Noah were contributing too much in the paint. Chris Paul did what Rose was doing in the 1st and finding players in transition. The shooting duo of Allen and Stojakavic stifled the Bulls as they hit consecutive treys. West was battling the Bulls' bigs, and finished the half with 16. The Hornets had dominated the 2nd quarter taking a 50-38 lead.

In the 3rd both teams played back and forth, as the Bulls couldn't catch ground. Boozer carried Chicago for the beginning minutes of the second half, but every time he scored Chris Paul was finding an open shooter, or hitting a floater. Josh Howard picked it up again, but still the Bulls couldn't catch up on the scoreboard trailing 71-58.

With the lead at 13, the Hornets then blew the Bulls away, having a 27 point quarter. Ray Allen hit two of his 5 threes on the night, and Chris Paul continued to dish his 16 assists. West and Okafor dominated the paint, as the Bulls defense was horrendous. The Hornets stretched the lead and eventually took home the game, 98-77.

The Hornets once again continue to look good since the Allen/Collison trade, moving closer to the 8th and final playoff spot. The Bulls meanwhile, are disappointing their fans who were looking forward to a stellar season. Time is running out in Chicago, as they are outside looking in.

Anthony Leads Nuggets in Win Over Lakers

The 2nd place Nuggets traveled to the Staples Center on Saturday, and escaped with a close victory over the Lakers. They can thank Carmelo who hit clutch shots at the end, and finished with 36 points in the W.

The Lakers opened the game on a roll, with Artest scoring the first 6 points and Kobe hitting a deep 3 to take a quick 9-2 lead. The post game for the Lakers was hitting on all cylinders, as Gasol and Bynum tore it up. The Nuggets only trailed 6 at the end of the quarter thanks to several 3's by Smith and Billups.

To start the second quarter, Kobe came out hot scoring 7 points in the first two minutes, until he came down hard on his ankle, twisting it. He would sit for the rest of the 2nd, but return for the final half. Carmelo heated up when Kobe was gone, dropping 12 in the period, dominating Artest. Down 2 with 5 seconds left, Billups nailed a 3 point buzzer beater and the Nuggets took a 1 point lead into halftime.

Down 1, the Lakers came out flat. Kobe seemed to struggle with his ankle, and nobody hit shots. The NBA's league leader in 3 point field goal percentage, Steve Blake went 0/6 on the night for the Lakers. Meanwhile, it was the Wesley Johnson show for Denver, as he threw it down 3 times and hit a trey to help the Nuggets take a 10 point lead heading into the final period.

The Lakers would try and amount a comeback in the final quarter, but when it came close, Carmelo took over. He had 10 in the period, and two 3's that kept the Lakers at bay. When the Lakers were within 3 with 2 minutes left, he hit a 3, then stole the ball for an easy jam. The Lakers got it within 4 with 30 seconds left, but Carmelo hit a jumper from the elbow retiring the Lakers' chances.

After the game, the NBA.com reported that Kobe will continue to play throughout the twisted ankle and it will last 1-2 weeks. It seems to bother his mobility and athleticism a little bit, but it is nothing the superstar can't handle. Right now, the Lakers are in 4th and can't afford to lose Kobe for any time. Meanwhile, the Nuggets trail the 1st place Mavs by only a couple games.

            Re: The Association (2K10)

Huge news in my association today. I've finally decided to download the 2nd patch. I will turn player roles and team chemistry off. First of all too many players were complaining about 35 minutes a night, so player roles was getting annoying, and team chemistry holds back some really good teams just because one guy is complaining. So I don't mind this being turned off. Finally now, I will try and give highlights and upload stuff now that I have the internet.

I will continue to make players angry though. For example, I will just create a storyline if Favors is angry in Milwaukee, based on minutes and success. Believe me, if the Nuggets are in last place you can bet Anthony won't be happy. I think this helps a lot gameplay wise, so hope you like it.

EDIT: I guess you cannot turn player roles off so I will just let the big men bomb the occasional 3 pointer

Good idea with storylines I made them wha I was playing my 30 teams Assoc.

For example: Suns were last in West Conf. and Amare start to "complain" and I traded him to Nuggets For Nene, 1st round pick and K-Mart I believe.

I also traded Gerald Wallace from struggling Bobcats to fighting for 8th spot Hornets (for Peja, draft pick and some roster filler), cause CP3 "says" that he will demand a transfer in offseason If they wont advance to the playoffs. Guess what: after transfer Hornets with Wallace won like 90% of their games and advanced to the West Conf. Finals where they lost with later champions - Nuggets with Carmelo and Amare.

Storylines are such a great thing - u wanna play ur franchise even more

I started to play my Assoc. with player roles off, cause like u said - everyone bitchin about playing time - thats really annoying

Yeah really love trading players to different teams. Too bad you can't turn off player roles in existing association modes so I am just going to have to live through it.

It's baaaaaaack. After playing NCAA Basketball a lot the past two weeks, I am bringing this back up. A decent amount has happened since I last posted. I was just too lazy to post. But it's playoff times so a couple big posts coming up.

Also, I will be using Pujos4MVP's stat generator which is awesome.

The fantastic 2010-2011 NBA Regular Season is over, and before the playoffs start we must first hand out the awards.

                            2010-11 NBA Regular Season MVP

LeBron James- 22.3 ppg, 10.4 rpg, 6.0 apg

In a suprise decision, LeBron has taken home his third consecutive MVP trophy. While his statistics weren't so superb this year, he did lead the Nets to a 61-21 record, best in the league.

2010-11 NBA Rookie of the Year
John Wall- 16.2 ppg, 5.4 apg, 1.6 spg

John Wall unanimously was chosen for this year's ROY award. He lead all rookies i scoring, steals, and assists and lead the Pacers to the playoffs for the first time in several years.

2010-11 NBA Sixth Man of the Year
Evan Turner- 11.6 ppg, 4.1 rpg, 2.9 apg

Rookie Evan Turner, of the Chicago Bulls, became the 2nd rookie ever to win the 6th man award. First, was Ben Gordon, coincidentally with the Bulls. This year's sixth man class was weak allowing Turner to win the award.

2010-2011 NBA Defensive Player of the Year

Dwight Howard- 23.5 ppg, 13.3 rpg, 3.3 bpg

Howard was a presence defensively all year long. He lead the league in blocks, and defensive rebounds. He altered shots and sent many into the stands, and helped the Magic reach the playoffs this year.

2010-11 Most Improved Player of the Year

Delonte West- 10.3 ppg, 4 apg, 2.1 spg

After a year of controversy and barely any playing time, West came back for this year ready to go, and was a vital contributer to the Cleveland Cavaliers this season. He was always a good scorer, and was one of the best stealers in the league this year.

2010-11 NBA Coach of the Year

Lawrence Frank- Lead Nets to 61-21 record

With the help of LeBron James and Dywane Wade, the Nets coasted to the best record in the NBA. Although, Frank had all the talent in the world, he juggled minutes consistently, kept stars happy, and in the end had a successful regular season.

The 8 seed Hornets are set to square off against the heavy-favorite, #1 seeded Dallas Mavericks in the first round of the Western Conference playoffs. While Dallas seems to be the easy choice, if you look beyond statistics, the Hornets have a decent shot at the upset. The Hornets have been on fire since the Ray Allen trade. They were in 12th place when the acquisition occurred, and since they roared up the Western Conference standings, and eventually making the playoffs. Peja Stojakovic has finally come back from injury, giving them the best shooting line-up in the NBA, with Allen and Peja on the same court. Unfortunately, James Posey and Marcus Thornton will most likely miss this series.

The Mavericks aren't hear for no reason. Old veterans Jason Kidd and Dirk Nowitzki are having career years. While it would seem that Chris Paul would have outplayed Kidd this year, Kidd averaged 2 more assists per game than 1st teamer Paul. Dirk also had a career-high year, winning the NBA scoring title. With these two playing at their prime, they are the favorites in the Western Conference. Add in a strong supporting cast of Luol Deng, Shawn Marion, Jason Terry, Shaquille O'Neal, Rodrigue Beabious, Cole Aldrich, and Eric Dampier, and this team has a legitimate shot at going all the way.

                              Prediction: Mavericks, 4-1

                              Game 1

The Mavericks dominated the entire game, in the first playoff game of 2011. Dirk Nowitzki scored 35 points, in a 20 point blowout win against the Hornets in Dallas.

In the win, the Mavs did a great job stopping the Hornets' great shooters, holding Ray Allen to 1-5, and Peja to 0-5. Chris Paul did manage 21 points and 13 assists, but he had no help while the Mavs were rolling on offense. Deng scored 25, and Jason Terry had 19, as Dallas dropped 111 points. Game 2 will be at Dallas, and it looks like the Hornets are just out-matched in this series.

Game 1 Final Score: Mavericks 111, Hornets 91

                              Game 2

The Hornets shocked the Dallas crowd in Game 2 of their playoff series, by evening the series at 1-1 with a 90-88 victory. Chris Paul lead the Hornets all game with 28 points and 14 assists. Defensively, the Mavs had no answer for him all night, as he kept them in the game. Luol Deng had 25 and Dirk added 23 for the Mavs in a losing effort.

With the game tied, and only 15 seconds left, the Hornets had the ball and a chance to win. Chris Paul was the obvious option, but when a double team came, Paul made the suprise dish to Larry Hughes, only in because Ray Allen fouled out. Hughes caught the pass, and amazingly took it to the hole and scored with 5 seconds left. Jason Terry's desperation three missed, and the Hornets took home court advantage in the series to the dismay of the fans at American Airlines Arena.

Larry Hughes was the hero of the game, after only playing 4 minutes the entire game.

Game 2 Final Score: Hornets 90, Mavericks 88

                              Game 3

One man has shown amazing dedication and heart for the Mavericks for several years, always fighting his hardest for a championship, yet never reaching his ultimate goal. This year feels different for Dirk Nowitzki, and he thinks this just might be the year. Well, he's making progress now leading his team past the pesky Hornets 101-91 during Game 3.

Nowitzki had 28 points and 15 rebounds in the win at New Orleans. The duo of Chris Paul and David West were tough for Dallas, but Dirk eventually took over in the 4th quarter and the Hornets had no match defensively. Paul had 24 points, and West was the Hornets' go to guy with 26 and 10.

The Mavericks recapture home court advantage but they still have a tough road ahead of them in this series. The Hornets can tie the series next game on their home floor.

Game 3 Final Score: Mavericks 101, Hornets 91

                              Game 4

Basketball is a game of runs, and no game has more proved this statement than tonight's Game 4 between the Mavericks and the Hornets. The Hornets started off the game motivated, and ready to go. Chris Paul scored 17 of his team's first 21 points, and they took a 17 point lead in the first 6 minutes.

Still, the Mavs aren't the #1 seed for no reason. They started to contain Chris Paul, quiet the crowd, and play the way they know how to. They started closing out better on New Orleans' great shooters, and started making the Hornets' zone defense collapse. They fought their way hard back into the game, and eventually tied it at 65 near the end of the 3rd. From there, Dallas scored 15 straight points and coasted to the victory.

Shawn Marion lead Dallas in scoring with 25 on the night, and Deng was next with 18. Together, they picked apart the zone with big outside shots, and getting into the paint. Jason Kidd was also a big factor tonight, as he made some fantastic, flashy passes past many Hornet defenders collecting 10 assists on the night. Chris Paul was amazing scoring 27, and dishing 11 dimes, but his team's performance wasn't enough and now they stare down a 3-1 deficit heading back to Dallas for Game 5.

Game 4 Final Score: Mavericks 101, Hornets 88

                              Game 5

It was a celebration night in Dallas, as the Mavs routed the Hornets 117-81 to advance to the second round of the NBA playoffs. The team was picture-perfect all night, shooting an astonishing 62% from the field, and holding the Hornets to 34%.

Dirk Nowitzki was the player of the game with 25 points and 12 boards, as David West was no match for him on defense. The wings in Shawn Marion and Luol Deng both had 19 getting to the lane at will, and hitting some outside jumpers. Kidd has 11 thanks to three 3's, and dished out 9 assists. Shaq also had 11 thanks to many offensive rebounds and big slams. The Mavs were on their 'A' game all night, finishing crazy alley-oops from half-court, hitting 15 treys, and out-rebounding the Hornets by 20. The Mavs first 5 really showed how well they mesh together, and are proving to be a dominant team. This may be the team that can do finally go all the way for Dallas.

For the Hornets, West scored 19, and Paul was next with 17 and 8, in losing fashion. The season is over for them, and another off-season awaits. New Orleans will try and be back here next year, hopefully with some more weapons for Chris Paul to play with.

Game 5 Final Score: Mavericks 117, Hornets 81

Series Result: Mavericks 4, Hornets 1

The defending champs find themselves in an unfamiliar situation this season. As the underdog. The Lakers have homecourt advantage this season, and the chance to get revenge after the Spurs knocked them off last year. Still, the Spurs are playing their best ball right now. One month ago, they found themselves in 8th place and have since sky-rocketed to 5th. The Lakers have stayed steady at around 4th all year, but have had their ups and downs. Kobe Bryant has struggled all year, not looking like his old self. Gasol and the Lakers have had off-court issues with contract discussions.

While Bryant and Gasol were struggling, the rest of the Lakers have picked it up. Bynum, Artest, Odom, and Steve Blake have been great recently. They have been carrying the team when it is Bryant missing shots, or Gasol not making his presence felt down low. The Spurs have had the same issues as Kobe, age is catching up to them. Parker and Duncan are both getting old, and are contributing less and less. While Parker still managed solid numbers, Duncan had career lows. Ginobli and Jefferson still provide some youth for the team, but their play has been inconsistent as of late. Both benches should be key in this series, and the edge would have to go to the Spurs. A solid big man duo of Luke Harangody and Dejuan Blair provide solid minutes, and George Hill gives Tony Parker a lot of rest. Unfortunately, Roger Mason is battling injuries, and the Lakers have a good bench of their own. Jordan Farmar has been a contributor off the bench all season, to go along with sharpshooter Sasha Vujacic, and of course sixth man Lamar Odom has all the talent in the world. The Lakers and Spurs seemed to be deadlocked, and a heavyweight battle is expected.

                                Prediction: Spurs, 4-3

                                Game 1

Kobe Bryant's 36 points lead the Lakers to a Game 1 victory at the Staples Center over the San Antonio Spurs 104-98. Tony Parker tried to keep up with Bryant and dropped 30 points, but the Spurs still fell short in the closing seconds.

Pau Gasol had 21 for the night, and had six straight points for the Lakers when most needed to finish the game. His effort and several missed field goals by the Spurs in the last three minutes, helped the Lakers take a 1-0 series lead heading into Game 2 in L.A.

Game 1 Final Score: Lakers 104, Spurs 98

                                Game 2

Kobe Bryant has always been the star for the Lakers, but it was Ron Artest who stole the show and have the defending champion Spurs on the edge during Game 2. Artest was not just solid defensively, he dropped 27 points leading the Lakers to victory.

Mr. Bryant wasn't so bad himself, helping out Artest with 24 points in the 104-100 win. Parker had 21, Duncan 17, and Ginobli managed 16 in the close loss. The Lakers just made free throws in the end when the Spurs threatened at the end.

Now the Spurs need to come back for Game 3 at the AT&T Center in San Antonio, and avenge these losses. Another loss would basically end their season, since no team has ever come back from a 3-0 deficit.

Game 2 Final Score: Lakers 104, Spurs 100

                                Game 3

The Spurs coasted during Game 3 with what has given them success in the past. Their defense was all over Kobe and the Lakers during Game 3 leading to a low-scoring 71-63 victory.

Kobe Bryant was held to 17 points during a horrid shooting performance, and the rest of the Lakers struggled to find any offense. Manu Ginobli meanwhile had 28 points in the win, and Richard Jefferson helped him out with 23 of his own, and some spectacular dunks.

Despite the loss, the Lakers are still in great position. They have home-court advantage, and a win during Game 4 would make them heavy favorites for the rest of the series. The Spurs still have work to do, needing to defend their home court in order to get back to even.

Game 3 Final Score: Spurs 71, Lakers 63

                                Game 4

With 30 seconds left down by one, the Spurs knew what to do. They gave it to their veteran star forward who's been here before. And Tim Duncan came through. He posted up Gasol, faced up, and banked it in his face with 21 seconds left.

The Lakers had a chance to win it, but Artest accidentally threw it away with 3 seconds left, and Parker grabbed it and ran out the clock, grabbing a monumental win. Tony Parker was tough all night for the Lakers to guard scoring 23, and Ginobli complimented him with 20. Duncan only had 12 for the game, yet came up with the biggest play, helping the Spurs tie up the series. Steve Blake surprisingly lead all scorers with 28 points, mostly coming off the six 3's he drained. Bryant once again struggled in San Antonio with only 15 points, and 6-20 shooting.

Down 2-0 heading back to San Antonio, the Spurs have responded and are now going to the Staples Center with a chance at stealing the series, and advancing to the second round.

Game 4 Final Score: Spurs 84, Lakers 83

                                Game 5

The two heavy-weights went to battle in L.A. for Game 5, as both teams hoped to gain a vital advantaged, taking a 3-2 series lead. The Lakers did just that, knocking off the Spurs 115-99.

The Laker offense was rolling all night, as they hit shots from all cylinders. Kobe lead all scorers with 29 points and 7 assists, and Pau Gasol was impressive with 22 and 11. But a third player was also on top of his game for the Lakers, as Steve Blake scored 10 and had a season-high 12 assists in the win. The Spurs defense was shredded into pieces, and the Lakers grabbed the series lead. Tony Parker had 23 and 10 for the Spurs, and Duncan dropped 21 on the night.

Now, the Spurs must need to protect their home court and force a Game 7, or else they will be eliminated, and the Lake Show will be in the second round.

Game 5 Final Score: Lakers 115, Spurs 99

                                Game 6

On their own home floor, the Spurs got wiped out and were sent home, as the Lakers destroyed them, 120-86.

Kobe once again lead all scorers with 29, and the rest of the Lakers joined him in the onslaught. Gasol had 23 points, Blake scored 17, and Artest jumped in with 16. Together, they helped beat the Spurs by plus-30 points. Tony Parker was the only Spur really contributing too much, with 26 and 6. Duncan was next with 16, but Parker seemed to be the only offense.

The Lakers now advance to the second round, as they face the #1 seed Mavericks, as the Spurs await a busy off-season. Some tough tasks, and a scary future lie ahead of the Spurs as they try and get younger, and decide what to do with Tony Parker, an upcoming free-agent.

Game 6 Final Score: Lakers 120, Spurs 86

Series Result: Lakers 4, Spurs 2
