    SEASON SERIES 1-0 CLE
CLEVELAND, OH -- The 76ers made their first trip to Cleveland of this young season and produced the highest-scoring Cavaliers game so far by 12 points. With Steve Nash commandeering an offense stacked with athletic guards and small forwards, Phildelphia fans came into the 2011-12 season with high expectations for their offense. Unfortunately for them, the Sixers were outperformed by the young Cavaliers squad.

Cleveland's young point guard, Ramon Sessions, did an excellent job of exposing Nash's poor defense and drove to the hoop well. In addition to scoring 23 points and tallying 15 assists, Sessions was also able to draw effectively draw fouls, resulting in Nash only playing 29 minutes (due to picking up 5 fouls).

"[Ramon] really took charge out there today. He went out there with a plan and executed it to perfection," head coach Byron Scott told reporters.

Guard Terrence Williams also stood out as a key performer for Cleveland, as he led all players in scoring with 30 points thanks to shooting 5-of-6 from beyond the three-point line. "T-Will was the man for us on defense today," said teammate Quinn Redd. "He did a great job of limiting the damage of Andre [Iguodala] and came up with some key steals for us."

The Cavaliers hope to continue their solid start to the season tomorrow in Toronto. The matchup will be the first time Redd and Cesar Padillo, the top two small forward prospects in last summer's draft, face each other in the regular season. Cleveland was rumored to be heavily considering drafting Padillo, so it will be interesting to see how the matchup pans out.

Many analysts were split on whether Padillo might have been a better fit for Cleveland than Redd. This game could be Redd's first opportunity to silence the critics. Their number seem to be pretty evenly matched so far but it should be fun to watch how they fare against each other.

              SEASON SERIES 1-0 CLE
TORONTO -- It was a strange day for the Cavaliers as they played only their second road game of this young season. Aside from J.J. Hickson their starters, including the usual scoring cast of Terrence Williams and Quinn Redd, had a quiet performance. For the first time this season Cleveland was forced to lean on the depth of its bench in order to come out with the victory.

Veteran forward Matt Barnes sparked the bench's third quarter run with two key three pointers. "When he hit that second three, I think it really got us fired up. We saw [Quinn] and Terrence having a tougher time than usual and really picked up the slack out there," stated point guard Andre Miller, who contributed a season-high 8 points along with 4 assists.

Redd had his worst scoring output of his career thus far, registering 10 points, all of which came late in the third quarter. After missing all six of his shots in the first half, and his first two of the second half, Redd came out of the game to make way for Barnes' energetic spurt. He came back into the game nearing the end of the third and caught fire but it wouldn't last long; he missed all three of his fourth quarter shot attempts.

The Cavaliers have a tough matchup ahead of them on Tuesday as they take on Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder, who are not surprisingly off to a hot start. It should serve as their first real test of just how competitive this young Cavalier team can expect to be this season.

Redd was 5-for-18, but Padillo went 2-for-12 from three. Can't say either of them proved themselves more worthy than the other. Good job on the win.

Shooting the way Redd did I don't see the problem. On top of that, there's fatigue. Hard to ask guys who played maybe 1000, 1200 minutes a season in college to play 3x the amount in the pros.

If Redd improves his effectiveness, I'm sure he'll be around 30 mpg by December/January.

                        Battier wants out

After coming to Chicago in a deadline deal last season (after a quick stop in Cleveland), Battier hopes to be on the move again. Despite getting a good amount of minutes off the bench for the Bulls, the veteran small forward appears to be unhappy with his role on the team. He hopes to go somewhere that he can start but we'd be surprised if any teams make a move for him until closer to the deadline.

Last year's 4th overall draft pick is being involved in recent trade rumors. With Corey Brewer starting at shooting guard, Johnson has been relegated to a bench role so far this season and has voiced his displeasure with the front office. His agent insists he has not asked for a trade, but the word around the league is that general manager David Kahn is looking to see what he could get for the young guard.

                        "Other" Bynum a hot topic

The young combo guard has toiled on the bench for most of his NBA career, but he could be looking at more time on the court if one of the trade scenarios being discussed plays out. Some of the teams tied to rumors involving Bynum include Milwaukee, Washington, and Phoenix. It is expected that the Pistons are looking to get a draft pick and/or a young small forward in return.

If Redd improves his effectiveness, I'm sure he'll be around 30 mpg by December/January.
Yeah there are two factors playing into why he's currently getting less than 30 minutes per game. When he gets cold, he hasn't demonstrated an ability to shoot himself out of a slump so I typically send him to the bench for a little while if he misses a few shots in a row.

Also at play, Andre Miller and Matt Barnes have already begun complaining about playing time, so in order to keep them content (in hopes to boost chemistry) I've been looking to get them on the floor more often, which unfortunately impacts Redd the most. Hopefully he starts picking it up soon though and can earn more court time.

Last season when these two teams faced off, neither Sessions or Westbrook had a standout performance in the two games. The size of Sessions against the speed of Westbrook provided for an interesting battle to watch and the same should be the case this time around. These guys are likely the x-factors in this matchup.

                              SEASON SERIES 1-0 OKC
CLEVELAND, OH -- For the first 47 minutes of Tuesday night's matchup with the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Cavaliers looked like they could hang with one of the best teams in the league. J.J. Hickson was scoring efficiently, Ramon Sessions did a great job of forcing fouls, and Daniel Gibson provided a nice spark off the bench. Sure, Kevin Durant was having his way with them but the Cleveland defense did a good job of limiting the damage caused by his supporting cast.

However, the Cavaliers perhaps showed their inexperience with a few costly lapses in fundamentals within the final minute of play. With 35 seconds remaining, the Cavaliers held a 93-91 lead and simply needed to drain as much clock as possible before putting up a shot or drawing a foul; that's when it all unraveled. An inbound pass from Hickson intended for Terrence Williams sailed to his left, landing out of bounds. Durant converted the turnover into three points to give Oklahoma City the narrow lead.

After a costly Cleveland turnover on a pass into the paint, the Thunder were able to increase the lead to 3 with 2 seconds remaining. The Cavaliers called a timeout to advance the ball in hopes of draining a buzzer-beater to push the game into overtime. Unfortunately, the inbound pass from Williams sailed over the head of Gibson, who would have had a decent look in the corner and had been shooting well in the fourth quarter.

"It's heart-breaking to suffer a loss like that," said Byron Scott. "To stick with them for nearly the whole game, get in position to when, and then blow it like that on basic plays is frustrating. At the end of the day we need to use this loss as a learning experience, and hopefully we can get revenge when we face them again in a few weeks."

The Cavaliers have two days off before facing Blake Griffin and the Los Angeles Clippers on Friday night. Williams, who scored a season low 4 points on 1-9 shooting, will look to bounce back likely matched up against the smaller Eric Gordon.

Durant was unstoppable, scoring 40 points on the night

Leading the charge for the Cavaliers was Hickson with 20 points

Redd struggled shooting the ball yet again, as he's blocked by Durant
