Re: Thunder Struck - NBA 2k12 OKC Thunder Association

CHICAGO -- The Oklahoma City have stumbled out of the gate early in this NBA season. After losing to the Chicago Bulls 94-80 their record through 6 games fell to 2-4.

Reigning MVP Derrick Rose scored 23 points and dished out 7 assists to lead the Bulls to the 14 point win.

Three other Bulls scored 12 points each with Carlos Boozer adding 8 rebounds.

"Our goal is to improve every game," Boozer said. "We don't look too far ahead."

Kevin Durant struggled with his shot hitting just 10 buckets on 31 attempts, he finished the game with 23 points.

Durant wasn't the the only member of the Thunder who had a tough night. Russell Westbrook continued his disappointing play scoring just 11 points.

Although the season hasn't gone the way Oklahoma City wants it's not as if the schedule has helped them out. So far the Thunder have faced the Lakers, Mavericks, Knicks, and Bulls on the road and played just one game at home.

The Thunder fans will finally get a chance to see the team in person as they will play six of their next 8 games at home starting with the Toronto Raptors Sunday. Toronto holds a 1-4 record, losing their last game by 1 point to the Clippers at home.

OKLAHOMA CITY -- It may have taken a few games but Russell Westbrook finally hit his stride scoring 22 points with 7 assists as the Thunder beat the Toronto Raptors 100-91.

Toronto held a 3 point lead at halftime but the Thunder were able to take control in the second half and get the win.

"They were just aggressive. They were way more aggressive than we were tonight, right from the start," said Raptors coach Dwanye Casey.

Kevin Durant led the Thunder with 23 points and star reserve James Harden matched Westbrook with 22.

Harden scored seven straight points spanning the third-quarter break to bump the lead to 12, and the Oklahoma City reserves kept the momentum going.

Demar DeRozan led the Raptors with 17 points and Jose Calderon added 14 points and 5 assists.

Oklahoma City will have quick turnaround as they travel to Charlotte to face the Bobcats, who are win-less on the season, tomorrow night.

Bobcats go down quietly in 85-61 loss to Thunder

CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- While Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks got his team to respond with a dominant defensive effort, it seems nothing Charlotte coach Paul Silas says these days registers with his ragged bunch.

Kevin Durant scored 28 points as the Thunder rolled to an easy 85-61 win over the Bobcats.

"It was a combination of them missing shots and us playing great defense" said Brooks.

It was another embarrassing outing for the Bobcats, who missed their first 11 shots of the game.

"The same things are happening again," Silas said. "We stand around, hold the ball and turn it over. We take bad shots. In that regard you see how much more athletic than we are. A turnover for them is a dunk."

Russell Westbrook had a another good performance with 15 points and 8 assists. Charlotte couldn't keep him off the free-throw line, where he hit 9 of 15 for the bulk of his points.

The only down note for OKC was Eric Maynor spraining an ankle late in the game, he is listed as day-to-day.

The Thunder will return home to begin a three game home-stand that includes visits from Denver and Utah. First up will be the New Jersey Nets who currently sit at 3-3 and are coming off a 101-90 win over Minnesota.

Durant, Thunder run wild on Nets in 100-78 win

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kevin Durant and the Oklahoma City Thunder are starting to find their stride after the lock-out nearly cost the league an entire season.

Durant scored 30 points before taking the fourth quarter off and the Thunder made it three straight wins by rolling past the error-prone New Jersey Nets 100-78 on Wednesday night.

Oklahoma City forced 13 turnovers and blocked 7 shots, a season high. Serge Ibaka had 3 blocks in the contest, a season-high thus far.

"We did a good job of causing turnovers and I think that we got a lot of deflections that led to some easy baskets for us. That kind of was the game for us tonight," Durant said.

Russell Westbrook added 18 points and five assists through the first three quarters as all but one player scored for Oklahoma City. Reserve James Harden had 16 points and Daequan Cook and Ibaka added 8 apiece.

Deron Williams led the Nets 'effort' with 19 points and rookie Marshon Brooks added 17 points and 12 rebounds.

The Thunder will have a day off before welcoming the Denver Nuggets to town. Denver is coming off an 87-73 loss to the Knicks, just there second of the season to bring their record to 4-2.

Kevin Durant tallies career-high 53 points as Thunder defeat Nuggets in OT

OKLAHOMA CITY -- Kevin Durant, the NBA's scoring leader, had a career-high 53 points, including 36 in the second half and overtime, and the Thunder beat the Denver Nuggets 105-98.

"He was on fire," Oklahoma City coach Scott Brooks said. "He wasn't even hitting the rim."

The Thunder needed Durant to take on the extra scoring load as Russell Westbrook was limited to just 18 minutes due to foul trouble.

James Harden and Serge Ibaka were the only Thunder players to score in double figures with 11 and 12 points respectively.

Ty Lawson scored 24 points for Denver, while Danilo Gallinari, added 22 and 12 rebounds.

Lawson took over at the end of fourth quarter scoring 6 straight points to force overtime. However, the Nuggets couldn't keep the momentum in their favor as the Thunder outscored them 13-6 in the extra period.

OKC will close out the three game home-stand with a visit from the Utah Jazz who hold a 5-4 record so far this season.

Jazz can't overcome Durant's 30 as Thunder earn 5th straight win

OKLAHOMA CITY -- The Oklahoma City Thunder stretched their winning streak to 5 games with their win tonight over the Utah Jazz.

Kevin Durant scored 30 points, Russell Westbrook added 18 and 8 assists as Oklahoma City held off the Jazz in the second half for a 81-71 victory.

"I think that we've just got to continue on this path. I think we're on a good roll right now," Durant said.

Serge Ibaka contributed 8 points, and 10 rebounds for the Thunder.

Devin Harris had 18 points to lead the Jazz and C.J. Miles scored 12 off the bench.

Next for the Thunder is a quick one game road trip to face the San Antonio Spurs who are 5-4 and lead by Tony Parker who is scoring 16.4 ppg and dishing out 7.3 assists.
