Timberwolves, Cavaliers agree to 6-player deal

              __________________________________________________

              ESPN.com news services

The Kevin Love era in Minnesota is officially over after the Timberwolves and Cleveland Cavaliers came tot erms on a blockbuster trade. Minnesota will send Love, Kevin Martin, Ronnie Turiaf, and a second round pick to Cleveland in exchange for Dion Waiters, Anthony Bennett, Anderson Varejao, and two first round draft picks.

After days of negotiations, the two teams finally closed the deal just days before the start of the 2013-2014 NBA season. First year Timberwolves GM Tennell Williams got a pretty nice return for a superstar that no longer wanted to be in Minnesota. They get the number one pick in this past June's draft in Bennett, and up and coming two guard in Waiters, Varejao's expiring deal, and multiple first round picks to start their rebuilding process.

              Waiters, Bennett, Varejao

              Love, Martin, Turiaf
While the Wolves reuild, the Cavaliers are banking on the addition of love will help them reach the playoffs for the first time since LeBron James left in the summer of 2010. A combo of Love/Irving should get the Cavs a playoof spot in the weak eastern conference. Cavs owner Dan Gilbert's main objective in making the deal was hoping the addition of Love will help lure back James this summer when he can opt out of his contract with the Miami Heat.

"We just acquired three great players and some valuable draft picks that will help this team down the road, said Williams. We would like to thank Kevin for all the years he played here in Minnesota but it was time for a change. It's the start of a new era for Timberwolves basketball."

Clips Bring T-Wolves Back Down To Earth In Blowout Win

Recap | Box Score | Highlights

MVP: Blake Griffin. Griffin had his way with rookie Anthony Bennett all game long finishing with 38 and 13 boards while going 14-of-25 from the field and 10-of-11 from the charity stripe. If Blake can keep this play up for the rest of the season the Clippers will be hoisting the Larry O'Brien trophy in June.

LVP: Anthony Bennett. To go along with his terrible defensive effort, Bennett;s struggles on the offensive end going 4-of-10 from the field for 11 points. The rookie shouldn't feel to bad, the entire team played horrible.

X-Factor: Jamal Crawford. Crawford scored a season high 26 points in the win. Crawford has played so well to start the season that he took the starting shooting guard spot from J.J. Reddick and it looks like he's not giving it up any time soon.

Rookie Watch: Shabazz Muhammad. Terrible shooting went all around for the T-Wolves rookies as Muhammad scored 11 points but shot a lowly 4-of-12 from the field. Clippers rookie Reggie Bullock finished with a DNP.
