Hawks Go Down Quietly In 97-66 Loss To Timberwolves

Recap | Box Score | Highlights

MVP: Anthony Bennett. Bennet had a bounce back game after a terrible outing against the Memphis Grizzlies on Friday night. Bennett scored a game high 26 points and grabbed a game high 14 rebounds in the dominating win over the Atlanta Hawks.

LVP: Paul Millsap and Jeff Teague. Millsap and Teague are co-LVP's because both players failed to show up in a game they needed to win to keep pace in the eastern conference playoff race. Millsap finished with just 7 points while Teague scored 10 while shooting 4-of-10 from the field.

X-Factor: Anderson Varejao. Andy V had his best game of the year coming off the bench to score 13 points on 6-of-7 shooting and pulling down 9 rebounds in 19 minutes of action. A contender could definitely use his services later in the season.

Rookie Watch: Dennis Schroder. The rookie point guard only saw 12 minutes of action and finished with 6 points and 2 assist on 3-of-8 shooting.

            Minnesota Acquire Trio From Chicago

Minnesota -- General Manager Tennell Williams announced that the team has acquired a trio of players from the Chicago Bulls in a 4 player deal today. Forwards Erik Murphy and Shengelia and point guard Jimmer Fredette will be coming to Minnesota. The T-Wolves will send guard J.J. Barea and a 2014 2nd round pick to Chicago.

"These are three young players who could continue to help our rebuild process, said Williams. They didn't get much playing team in Chicago because of all the talent that was ahead of them. But they will get the chance to show us what they got."

The Bulls will also send the Wolves a conditional 2nd round pick.

Waiter's 30 Help Timberwolves Hold Off Rockets

Recap | Box Score | Highlights

MVP: Dion Waiters. Waiters finished with a game high 30 points to go along with 4 rebounds, 3 assist, and 2 steals. Even though he didn't shoot well (9-of-21) he made them when he needed to ending a few Rocket comeback attempts in the 4th quarter.

LVP: Patrick Beverly. Not really known for his offense, Beverly was trigger happy against the T-Wolves taking a team high 23 shots to score 11 points in the loss. You know this has to tick Howard off getting just 9 shot attempts while Beverly was just chucking away all game long.

X-Factor: Jimmer Fredette. The newly acquired guard was a big time spark plug off the bench for the Wolves. Fredette came in early in the 2nd quarter and proceded to knock down three straight treys on his way to scoring 15 points in his debut for the T-Wolves.

Rookie Watch: Anthony Bennett. The number one pick had a 0 point first half but turned things around in the 2nd half finishing with 24 points and 8 rebounds.

Clippers, Timberwolves, Jazz Complete 3 Team Deal

With just 24 hours before the trade deadline, the Los Angeles Clippers, the Minnesota Timberwolves, and the Utah Jazz have completed a 3 team 5 player deal.

The Clippers will receive SF Corey Brewer PG Ramon Sessions, and SG Alexey Shved from the Timberwolves. The T-Wolves will be getting SG Reggie Bullock, SF Richard Jefferson, Utah's 2014 2nd rounder, and the Clippers 2014 2nd rounder. The Utah Jazz will receive SF Danny Granger and cash in the deal.

Why the Clippers did the deal:

The Clippers get rid of an unhappy Granger who complained behind closed doors about wanting to be a starter on the team. The 8 year pro out of New Mexico was getting a career low 11.5 mpg coming of the Clippers bench. Brewer and Sessions will be an excellent fit to the bench unit. Bullock was also causing problems in the locker room with his complaints about not seeing the court. The rookie out of North Carolina has only appeared in 5 games this season.

Why the Timberwolves did the deal:

One reason. More assets. Since trading Kevin Love, the Wolves have been wheeling and dealing all season long moving talented players like Nikola Pekovic and J.J. Barea for cap relief and draft picks, building up their trade assets in the process. In this deal they get a talented young prospect in Bullock and two 2nd round picks in a deep draft this summer. Their also off the hook for the remaining 2 years of Brewer's deal.

Why the Jazz did the deal:

The Jazz, who are 1/2 back of the 8th spot, wants to make a run at the playoffs and Granger is an instant upgrade at the three spot over Richard Jefferson.
