Duggins definitely gives you that. If you don't have at least 3 shooters in this game, it's tough to regularly compete.

UC Davis Pulls Away in Second Half
December 5th, 2009
Davis -- Portland came into Davis as one of the hottest mid major teams in the country. The Pilots were ranked 15, in this weeks annual mid major poll and on a eight game win streak. UC Davis was coming off two big wins of their own.
Last year you could park a car in UC Davis’s stands the seats were so empty. However, winning has brought out fans and the Aggies faithful created quite an atmosphere from the tip. UC Davis delivered too, getting out to an 8-2 early lead.
The Pilots were able to catch back up, however, through their sophomore small forward Kurt Edwards. Describing him as a small forward, would be a mistake however, Edwards stands 6'7 and weighs over 270lbs. Edwards was able to bang his way inside but also hit from outside.
Joe Harden has struggled early in the season playing through a sprained ankle, but today he was able to muster up his best performance of the year. After Portland tied things up midway through the first the Aggies offense was lost. Harden was able to slow things down and take control. Not the fastest player, Harden's slow deliberate attack of the basket worked wonders.
UC Davis Stats:
Portland Stats:
In the second half, the Aggie's offense took off led by Niemer Jefferson. Jefferson had his career-high in points tonight. As he scored 17, most of which came in the second half. He hit two threes, which led to the defense overcorrecting and allowing him easy drives to the basket.
On defense, the Aggies slowed down Edwards, forcing Portland to play through their two Senior guards. Ito and Raivio struggled to get good looks especially when UC Davis had their twin towers line up of Youmans and Watson in the game.
Soon UC Davis found themselves up eighteen with five minutes left, something they are unfamiliar with as typically even their best games go down to the wire. Lownethal ran the clock down on offense until there was about two minutes left and Keon Reid let the subs in. In his limited minutes, Senior CJ Portz was able to get a basket in. However, walk-on Shawn Daniels couldn't.

Jefferson's shooting has been huge for you guys this year and will be interesting to see how his role grows throughout his career. Would be great to see Watson become more consistent and dominant on a regular basis.Comment

Great win. Would be awesome to see this kind of victory be more commonplace for the Aggies.
Does this result mean you'll roll with the twin towers lineup more often, or just that it worked well this game.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Re: A West Coast Story - College Hoops 2k8 Legacy
I wish, the Beard torched us earlier in the year though when we played him. We have the off-brand Harden, Joe Harden.
Watson isn't the strongest big man and his game relies more on finesse, so some games aren't just good matchups for him on offense. Whereas others he's able to take over.
The twin-towers lineup has worked really well in certain situations. I also used it a lot against Colorado. It's something I'm going to continue to utilize when the match-up is there but I also have been liking what Parks gives me. He had a better game than maybe what the box score says or I reported on.Comment

PAC-10 Owns the Polls
As we look down at the polls we notice a trend the PAC-10 is all over it. Six of the conference's ten teams hold a place in the top 25, with an argument to be made for Oregon State as a potential seventh. While the SEC is clearly strong as well this year the PAC-10 is the top conference in the nation.
The top of the polls remains the same with Duke and Louisville continuing to sit at the top. As I predicted earlier in the season, Florida has been a force early on. Beating teams by an average of twenty-plus points, although they haven't faced any quality teams. However, Chandler Parsons hasn't been the big riser it's been Nick Calathes. The 6'7 point guard's stats are up across the board.
USC has been a riser in recent weeks, their offense has been attacking the paint, with Senior power forward Taj Gibson leading the way. They've had some close games, however, with Iowa State nearly knocking them off.
The Derrick Rose era at Memphis is over but the Tigers have been surprisingly great all season. They've beaten Oklahoma, Minnesota, Pittsburgh, and New Mexico on their way to a 9-0 record. While there is no big-name star on the Tigers this year, their collective talent has made them a team to watch.
Last week the defending champs Kentucky Wildcats took a tough loss to Clemson where they were outscored by 18 points against a mediocre Tigers team. While the Wildcats do have an impressive 40 point win over number 11, Michigan St they have struggled against some teams you wouldn't expect them to so far. Losing to Akron at the buzzer and only beating Lousinia Tech by two to name just two.
The La Salle Explorers are one of the most exciting teams in the country to watch. Their five seniors may not be the most talented but they aren't afraid to go up against some of the country's best. They've beaten two teams ranked in the top 25 so far this season. Their two lone losses were to Alabama and LSU both great teams.
In the Mid Major polls, despite an embarrassing loss to UC Santa Barbara, Gonzaga stays at the top. The Wisconsin-Green Bay Phoenix's are also one of the best mid-major teams for the second year in a row. Troy Cotton leads the team averaging 15ppg. Boston has one of the best backcourts in the country with Seniors Corey Lowe and Tyler Morris. However, they have to rely on freshman Deron Diakite down low who has been shakey this season. Eastern Kentucky has entered the top 10 after starting off the year hot at 6-0. They have a six-point win over Virginia under their belt as well.

-freshman (just a few)
-sophomores (a bit more)
-Juniors (quite a few)
-Seniors (enough to fill out all the open scholarships, plus more)
-JuCo players (about the same number as juniors)
You can create up to 6 recruits or something each year if you want, but there's no guarantee you can sign them.
CHoops 2K8 also has two different modes: open and closed legacy. In closed it's more like MyNBA and open is like MyLeague. You get more of a challenge and career aspect in closed, but you are limited in what you can edit and manipulate.?The Bulgarian Brothers - a story of two brothers (Oggy and Dinko) as they coach in the NCAA and the NBA.

Studbucket explained it well, this season I started adding 10 created prospects each season which are a mix of college stars/future NBA players. So this year's recruiting class features Kyrie for example.Comment

Team Stats: Apologies forgot to take a picture of the team statsTrojans Handle Business
December 9th, 2009
Los Angeles -- UC Davis has been in recent weeks winning four games in a row including one over Colorado. However, the USC Trojans are one of the top teams in the nation led by NBA prospect Taj Gibson.
The Aggies got the first bucket after Todd Lowenthal snuck his way into the lane. That would be their last basket for a while as USC went on a 20-0 run right afterward. Keon Reid responded by going to his twin towers line up to try and slow the Trojans down in the paint.
This didn't do anything to stop the relentless pounding of the paint USC was on. Taj Gibson lead the way, fighting for position in the post and rolling to the hoop off picks. Davon Jefferson dunked all over Aggie defenders multiple times.
On the other side, nobody at UC Davis could get the separation needed for an easy look. The Aggies tried to get Niemer Jefferson going from deep but they couldn't find anything. Dedrick Watson missed several bunnies inside.
USC's defense was just as tenacious as their attack of the paint, they forced sixteen turnovers with most coming in the second half. Junior point guard Angelo Johnson had six steals by himself.
UC Davis Stats:
USC Stats:
In the second half, UC Davis went to a 2-3 zone due to the fact USC was struggling from deep. This didn't do anything to slow down the Trojans. However, the size mismatch on the other end allowed Donnie Parks to start scoring.
Angelo Johnson was terrific on both ends the entire game, outside of his six steals he led the Trojan offense and scored eighteen points of his own.
UC Davis played physical in the second half and things got testy a few times between players. However, ultimately this had little effect on the score of the game as nobody could slow down the USC.

It's New Years' eve and that means the start of Big West Conference basketball play. While the fireworks will be going off all over the nation tonight, there will be some action-packed Big West games as well.
For the second year in a row, the UC Davis Aggies enter conference play with the best out of conference record. Last year the Aggies, collapsed in conference play, however. This UC Davis team is young but talented. With only two upperclassmen playing in the rotation. They bring the same firey offense from last year but lack a true go-to scorer after losing Vince Oliver.
Last year CS Fullerton was the regular-season conference champion but couldn't finish in the conference tournament. They have an almost entirely new rotation this year featuring a plethora of sophomores. Their shooting has been poor as they've shot under 40% so far this season, however, they've also been able to keep opponents from shooting well. While also forcing 20 turnovers per game.
The UC Riverside Highlanders weren't able to do much to upgrade their roster last season after finishing as the worst team in the conference. However, despite their lack of talent, they've performed decently in a tough out of conference slate. There isn't anything that really stands out outside of freshman Madison Causey who has averaged 11 points per game.
The Matadors of CS Northridge are looking to make it to the NCAA tournament for the second year in a row. They haven't had any major wins in out-of-conference play but have held their own. They also have a very young starting line up with only two returning starters.
Cal Poly had one of the toughest out of conference slates of anyone in the Big West. They were able to pick up a signature win over Oklahoma State and only lost to a top fifteen ranked UCLA by four. Their attack of the paint has forced opponents into fouling them and Cal Poly has been one of the better shooting free throw teams all year. They very likely will be one of the best teams in the conference.
Last year UC Santa Barbara was a feisty young team led by James Powell. This year Powell returns but the youth around him has only gotten better as they come into a new year. They beat Gonzaga on the road just two weeks ago and have won four of their last five.
Everyone had Pacific penciled in as their top team in the league last season and they didn't deliver. This year they lost the duo of Steffan Johnson and Anthony Brown. However, C.J Morgan has stepped up to fill in for their absence. Averaging 20ppg this year after only averaging 8 last season. His partner in crime Terrell Smith creates another great duo for the Tigers.
UC Irvine has gone from the oldest team in the league to one of the younger ones. They've lost their entire starting lineup outside of Delvon Coggins. The good news, however, is that Coggins is arguably their best player.
Long Beach State had quite the run last season as a defensive juggernaut. While slightly declined they've continued to play good defense this season. However, the offense just hasn't been there. The Miners average significantly fewer points per game than any other team in the conference.
