    WEEK 10 BILLS @ BROWNS

Well this game was as ugly as they can get while still winning. Serna was kciking all over the place. While Joseph was not happy about getting in the open field so he would turn around and run back to the defenders. WR Rudolph was injured so I signed Malcom Kelly to fill in for him
I was just glad to see the end of this one.

      BROWNS AT BENGALS

I almost tried to out-think this one and came close to putting it in the "Lose" column. I got in the Red Zone 7 times, but because of my paranoia of Serna missing short FGs like he did the week before and the success I had on 4th and short I tried that strategy again without the success I had the previous week. But I was able to pull it with a last second FG. I also had 2 WRs down with injury (Edwards and Rudolph) not that Edwards has been a factor since Week 7, but I still think it impacted the team.

I hope things settle down though. We are heading in to the critical time of the season.

Re: Bringing the Pride Back (HC 09)

Just a quick update on the major re-signings...

WR Braylon Edwards: He walked out of negotiations in Week 7 and has never come back. Sorry I messed up the deadline to trade him...

MLB Gino King: Still in negotiations. Want to sign him, but if I cant I will try to get him during FA. If I have the franchise tag available I may use it on him. He has been a great FA signing.

RB Adrian Joseph Jr.: Still in negotiations. Want to keep him. Even though he sometimes makes bone-head plays...like turning and running towards the defense...he is still one of the best RBs I have ever had. If I have too will use the Franchise tag on him so I dont loose his play knowledge.

All other negotiations dont really matter to me or I am waiting for "Restricted" period to sign them.

What's your philosophy on negotiation? Do you do it all in-season or let them enter FA? Do you use incentives? Do you worry about a big signing bonus?

To be honest...it depends on the player. If it is someone I really want to re-sign I will keep after them as long as they will talk to me. I will also keep talking to a player that is a back-up if they are not asking for a signing bonus. I figure if they are a back-up they can be replaced and I dont want to eat that bonus.

I dont use incentives..ever. With one exception...if I have to...I will give them the "16 game" incentive...but then I make sure to make them inactive for 1 game. I think they are just a sneaky way to get a fatter contract out of the team. I dont like the "not knowing" part of the contract like that.

Bonuses are something I look long term at. If the player is a starter and someone I plan on keeping then I dont mind a large bonus. But once again, it depends on the player, their overall, their production, age, and my long-term plans for them.

              Ravens @ Browns

I simmed this game last night. I really dont like playing the Ravens, they are a team I cannot stand to lose to. So to keep my blood pressure down I rarely play the games against them. I guess the computer doesnt think I would have much luck against them either because I won, but it was 31-30.

I am not going to put the stats up since I didnt actually play the game. But I will say that WR Braylon Edwards was pleased after this game. He had 13 catches. When I play the games I dont even throw his direction...

So the Browns are now 12-0 in Week 13, the only undefeated team in the NFL, but still havent clinched a playoff spot. The only team that has done so is...you guessed it...the Patriots!

Re: Bringing the Pride Back (HC 09)

Last night I played the game against the Saints. I knew I was in trouble when I went down by 14 in the first 5 minutes. I accepted the fact that I was going to lose this one and it wasnt going to be pretty. I accepted Colston have a 11 catch-297 yard-4 TD game. I was also willing to accept the Saints scoring plays of 80, 78, 69 and 37 yards. I guess I wasnt shocked when Brees didnt throw his first incomplete pass until there was only 4:33 left in the third quarter. It was not even that big of a shock when they scored 3 times in the last 3 minutes of the first half. I didnt even throw the controller out the window when I FINALLY tied the game up with 30 seconds left and Brees threw completions of 15 and 35 yards to be topped by a 24 yard pass interfernece call to set them up with a 1st and goal from the 6 with 4 seconds left that allowed them to kick the winning FG to beat me 62-59. I even didnt cuss too much when I saw that Brees had thrown for over 700 yards against me...

BUT I just quit and didnt save when after the game...I found that starting LG Steinbach was out 2-3 months with a broken arm....starting LT Thomas was out the rest of the season for a broken elbow...starting TE Witten was out the rest of the season with a torn pectoral...starting MLB King was out 5-7 weeks with a sprained back...AND starting FS Bartell was out 2-3 months with a knee injury...

So tonight I will try to play this one again...I can accept the loss...but I think it was too much to give me all of those injuries...

                  WEEK 14, BROWNS @ SAINTS, DECEMBER 4, 2010

The Saints gave me fits again, but I was able to hold on for the win. At least I didnt lose half my team to injuries this time! But I still gave up way too many yards in the air. Most were because of missed tackles or my DBs being drug for 10 yards. But even though the defense gave up too many yards in the air I notched another won. The Browns have now clinched the AFC North, along with the Patriots in the East and the Colts in the South.

Looking back on it...with a chance to not be so frustrated...I really wish I had just saved it and moved on. I think that after having the game that I did and being so frustrated with my DBs...it was my offense and the only part of my defense that seemed to be okay that took the hits...I just said what the @%$#^&# and hit "Quit" before I really even thought about it.

So I guess that is one to learn from....

I also learned that my CBs are crap! My top 2 are in negotiations right now and their chances to re-sign just took a nose dive...

                            WEEK 15, BENGALS @ BROWNS, DECEMBER 12, 2010

This was a win that let me see that the CBs definitely need to go! Almost 500 yards again...maybe it is my playbook but my DBs are getting torched! The defensive line and the LBs look good, and the safties are doing ok..but the CBs are awful! The magic number is 1 now. If I win 1 more and the Colts and Patriots lose 1 I will have homefield advantage throughout the playoffs.

Get Performance up with your HC, DC, and DBC. Also might consider buying defensive back special skills for your HC, DC, and DBC.

This is where my coaches are now:
HC: Performance-3/5; Special Skills: Improved Tackling, Improved Forced Fumbles, Blitz Discipline, Hard Hitting, Improved Block Shedding, Improved Press and Coverage Analysis

DC: Performance-5/5; Special Skills: Improved Block Shedding, Improved Press, Coverage Analysis, Interception Training and LB Discipline

DB Coach: Performance-3/4; Special Skills: Coverage Analysis

The DBs did alot better this game but I figured out what is going on, now I need to stop it. They are hitting the slot receiver across the middle. He is open almost every time and it is good for at least 20 yards. I have been running mainly a zone defense so I am going to have to put some more man coverage plays to cover that guy.

                                I hope that helps.
