    Damn, Brian. Impressive indeed.

I'm so torn with your next game, as long as Tomlinson does well, I'll be happy.

Quentin Jammer: 25 tackles, 3 INT

        Ravens' Keys to the Game

        1. Lets let out "big uglies" wear down their D-line. We could run all day if that happens.

        2. I like Jamal Lewis's chances against their D-line. Let's play some smash mouth football.

        3. The problem with Donnie Edwards is that he can get to the ballcarrier quickly on every play. If we keep him in coverage, we have a shot.

        Key Matchups
        1. Ray Lewis vs. LaDainian Tomlinson
        2. Jamal Lewis vs. Donnie Edwards, Randall Godfrey, and Shawne Merriman
        3. Derrick Mason vs. Quentin Jammer

        NFC Championship Game

        Falcons (11-7) @ Eagles (12-5)

Goalline stand dashes Chargers' dreams, sends Ravens to Detroit for Super Bowl XL

SAN DIEGO, CA--On the first play from scrimmage, LaDainian Tomlinson sprinted 73 yards through Baltimore's defense for a TD.

With 1:23 left, Tomlinson scored on a 65 yard pass from Drew Brees.

But when it counted the most--on the two point conversion following that TD--the Ravens' defense denied the Chargers' all-everything back, and on the ensuing Ravens' drive, Jamal Lewis pounded it in on 4th and 1 for a first down, running out the clock and giving the Ravens a thrilling 24-22 win in San Diego in the AFC Championship Game.

Quincy Carter was 7-21 passing for 144 yards with a TD and an INT. Jamal pounded the ball in 30 times for a very tough 96 yards and a pair of scores.

Brees was 14-27 for the Chargers for 222 yards with a TD but a pair of INTs. One of the interceptions was crucial. In the second quarter with the Chargers up 13-3, Will Demps intercepted Brees and returned it all the way down to the two, setting up Jamal Lewis' first TD that swung momentum.

Tomlinson did everything in his power, shredding the Ravens' defense for 166 yards rushing on 22 carries and a TD, while catching three passes for 75 yards and another TD. Antonio Gates had 3 catches for 60 yards, and Keenan McCardell caught 3 for 44 yards.

Ray Lewis' 12 tackles and a sack led the Ravens defense. Samari Rolle had 6 tackles, and Anthony Weaver, Dwan Edwards and Chris McAlister each had 5, with Weaver and Edwards each getting a sack. Demps and Ed Reed each had an INT. The defense was the toast of the locker room in the post game celebration.

"ONE MORE, THEN ROAR!" Captain Ray Lewis hollared as the defense huddled with bottles of champagne going around.

Randall Godfrey and Donnie Edwards each had 7 sacks. Defensive Rookie of the Year Shawne Merriman was held to 4 tackles. Jamar Fletcher had SD's only sack, and their INT went to Terrence Kiel.

The Ravens are destined for Detroit, where they will meet up with this year's Cinderella, the Atlanta Falcons, who stunned the Philadelphia Eagles in Philly, the Eagles' 4th loss in the NFC Championship Game in the last 5 years.

NFL Network's Rich Eisen goes 1 on 1 with Ravens' star Safety Ed Reed

Eisen: Ed, you're clearly one of the best safeties in the league right now...being on the same defense as guys like Ray Lewis and Deion Sanders has to help. How have those two helped you develop as a star?

Reed: Well, they've helped teach me that in order to succeed at this level you have to have the skill and the attitude to back it up. Deion's helped me with my skills and QB reading, stuff like that. Ray's helped me with the mental part of it, helping me believe that I'm better than everyone on the opposing team. They're two of the best to ever play their position, and with their help I believe I'm on my way to being one of the best ever at my position.

Eisen: The last time the Ravens reached the Super Bowl, things were similiar. McAlister at corner, Lewis at Linebacker, a couple of hogs on the D-line in Williams and Siragusa, now you've got Suggs and Weaver...Jamal Lewis carrying the ball and a QB that just manages the game, and at safety, that team had Rod Woodson, now you're there...what would you say is the main difference between the 2000 Ravens and the 2005 Ravens?

Reed: Well that team was one of the greatest defenses of all time. I'm not sure you could say the same thing about us, ya know, Ray was younger and had a different kind of motivation, Rod Woodson is one of the best safeties ever...I know our defense is awesome, and I know it's championship-calibre, but that defense was amazing.

Eisen: You've had big game experience before, you went to the Rose Bowl and crushed Nebraska back in your days at Miami, went undefeated, won the national title...how will that experience help you this time around?

Reed: Oh it'll definitely help me. The funny thing is, the Falcons aren't that much different from the Nebraska team we faced back when I was at Miami. Ya know, they ran an option offense, you don't see that in the NFL, but the Falcons are definitely a run-based team, Mike Vick's one of the best running quarterbacks ever, and if we can contain him, I know who'll be hoistin' that trophy late Sunday Night.

Eisen: So you're hoping to destroy Vick the way you, Vilma and the guys at Miami destroyed Crouch?

Reed: Oh fo sho, we gotta dirty up that jersey of his a lil' bit.

Eisen: Ed, thanks for joining us, good luck on Sunday.

                Reed: Thanks a lot, man.

Ravens MLB Ray Lewis and CB Deion Sanders answer the media's questions

Media: Ray, this first question's for you. Five years ago when the Ravens first got to the Super Bowl, you were of course surrounded by controversy. This time around, nothing like that. Does that change your state of mind for this game?

Ray Lewis: Yes and no. Yes, because five years ago I used that as motivation to play my heart out and it worked, we won the game. This year I'm not motivated THAT way, but hey, it's the Super Bowl, motivation isn't necessary, this is the pinnacle of the sport, period.

Media: Deion, after having four interceptions last year, you didn't have any this year. Can you explain this?

Deion Sanders: Well I didn't see as much time this year, and for obvious reasons. We've got the best tandem of corners in the league, Chris and Samari are both going to the Pro Bowl, so the Nickel package wasn't required as much. I'll be seeing some more time on Sunday though, or so I understand.

Media: Ray, your team's had more than their share of close games this year, 10 games being decided by 7 points or less, 5-5 in those, and 6 games be 3 points or less, 4-2 in those. Do you think that gives you an edge?

Ray Lewis: I think that's a bit overblown. That just shows we can win a close game, but we've lost close games too. 10 games decided by 7 or less, we're at .500. That's not an edge. That's average.

Media: Deion, will this be your final game?

Deion Sanders: I gotta listen to what my body tells me, and as of right now.....I dunno. Might be.

Media: If it is indeed your last game, and you manage to score a TD, how will you celebrate?

Deion Sanders: I been playin' football HOW long? Y'all KNOW how I roll when I score. I'mma dance 'til they flag me.

Media: Ray, you're far and away the leader of this team, offense and defense combined. What are your feelings about the Jamal Lewis situation?

Ray Lewis: Well right now some signs are saying this is his final game here. Whether a win or a loss will affect that, and how his role would be in that win or loss, I don't know. Jamal's my boy, he's my friend. I pray for Jamal.

Media: So does that mean you support his resentment towards the front office?

Ray Lewis: I pray for Jamal. I'll continue to pray for him, no matter what.

Media: Ray, you nearly led the NFL in tackles this season, missing Rob Morris of Indianapolis by two. Any comment on that?

Ray Lewis: I'm at the Super Bowl, right? Where's Rob Morris? He's at home, eating food, watching me, WISHING he was me. I'm where I belong, he's where he belongs. I don't care about him, or what he does, he's not significant to me.

Media: Ray, going back to the Jamal Lewis situation, rumors are floating around that even if the Ravens were to resign him, that too much damage has been done in the relationship, and he would be traded, possibly for a very high draft pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Your thoughts?

Ray Lewis: I pray for Jamal.

*At this point Deion piped up, jokingly complaining about all the attention being on Ray*

Deion Sanders: Man, y'all just love you some Miami, don't ya? No love for Florida State at all, huh?

*Ed Reed then emerged from the back, putting a Miami Hurricanes hat on Deion's head; Ed then cracked up laughing along with Ray Lewis*

Deion Sanders: That's just cold man...*throws hat into the crowd of media* That's cold.

Moderator of the Press Conference: That's all the time we have now, thanks for the questions, and thank you Deion and Ray for the time.

                      Keys to the Game

                      1. We should let Michael Vick get in a rhythm vs. their secondary. He could have a great day against these guys.

                      2. I say we go right at Chris McAlister. Make him prove that he's as good as the experts say he is.

                      3. Terrell Suggs is known for his ability to create pressure on the pocket. We have to run some backs at him and keep him off guard.

                      Keys to the Game

                      1. Take Keith Brooking out of the game. Force him to cover the TE deep often.

                      2. Don't let Michael Vick get comfortable. He is very dangerous when he has time.

                      3. We need to shut down Warrick Dunn. Even if it means putting 8 men in the box, we need to stop him.

Ravens ride defense to "vick-tory" in Super Bowl XL; Deion and Jamal's run with team appears to be over

DETROIT, MI--Another case of the time-tested motto:

                          DEFENSE WINS CHAMPIONSHIPS!!

The Ravens did just that, leading their elite defense to a 24-10 win over the Atlanta Falcons to claim their second world championship in six seasons.

Ray Lewis was named Super Bowl MVP for the second time in as many trips to the big game, as he had a game-high 13 tackles, and the play that changed the face of the game. With the game tied at 10 in the 3rd quarter, Chris McAlister nailed Falcons' Pro Bowl punt returner Allen Rossum and popped the ball loose. The opportunistic Lewis scooped the ball up and rolled untouched 29 yards into the endzone. This set off a huge series of events. Ed Reed intercepted Michael Vick on the next play, and on the first play for the Ravens, Quincy Carter lobbed a 53 yard bomb to rookie Mark Clayton, who hauled it in as he crossed the goalline. In 12 seconds the Ravens went from a 10-10 tie to a 24-10 lead that effectively put the Falcons away.

Carter himself was dreadful, going a pitiful 4/22 passing, but they were all long plays, as he racked up 153 yards passing. Jamal Lewis was sluggish, carrying only 20 times for 74 yards. He addressed his situation after the game.

"I love the Ravens as a team. I've won two rings here. But after all that's been said by both sides (addressing himself and the Ravens' front office), I don't see myself returning here next year."

Receiving, Clayton hauled in 3 passes for 126 yards and the TD.

The ever-elusive Michael Vick was hounded all night by the Ravens' defense. He was only 15-32 for 201 yards and a TD. He was intercepted FOUR times and SACKED five times. He netted only four rushing yards on five carries. Warrick Dunn carried the load on the ground, gaining 119 yards on 27 carries. Rookie Roddy White caught 7 passes for 89 yards and a TD.

Aside from Ray's MVP performance, Will Demps had 11 tackles for the World Champs. Ed Reed and Samari Rolle BOTH had 6 tackles and a PAIR of interceptions. Rolle's first INT was taken back for a TD, and his second set up the Ravens' possession in which they went 3 and our and produced the punt that was fumbled by Rossum and returned by Ray for the score. Reed's first INT was right after, and his second was in the endzone with 16 seconds left on the clock. He ran the ball out for about 30 yards before getting pushed out of bounds. He threw the ball up in the air, ripped his helmet off and threw his arms around Ray Lewis.

"I KNEW we could do it! I'm just so happy right now, and to know that I was a huge factor in this, this is just really special to me," an obviously ecstatic and emotional Reed said on the field as confetti and fireworks surrounded him.

Five different Ravens had sacks: Jarret Johnson, Dwan Edwards, Tommy Polley, Kelly Gregg, and Anthony Weaver.

Nickelback Deion Sanders had 2 tackles in what proved to be his final game, as he said on the field.

"This is it for me. There's no other way I'd rather go out. This is the pinnacle, baby. I love the Ravens to death for giving me this opportunity, and now I'll ride my horse outta here," Primetime said.

For the runners up, Reggie Tongue had 5 tackles, and Ed Hartwell had 3. The Falcons had no sacks and interceptions.

The bullseye is back on the back of the Ravens for next season. And they wouldn't have it any other way.

                            Nice work containing Vick.

This should be an interesting offseason.
