We'll have to see how your move to Old Dominion works out for you. I think it was a good decision to move on because you will have better chances of success at Old Dominion than at Army.

          Congrats on the new job!!

It looks like you did a great job building up Army if it was the first small school listed in the carousel.

            Re: News Flash!!

I think that I got lucky to get the ODU job. I would have left either way and would have taken the coaching job at Evansville.

The Monarchs were in the final mid-major poll and I never thought that I would get that job. Coach Taylor took the job at Maryland so it opened up and was slotted before Evansville.

I am expecting some growing pains at ODU because I am coming in with a different offensive & defensive playbook than what coach Taylor used. The Monarchs' strength looks like it's defense and it's rebounding.

Army finished with an overall rating of 74. I think that with the Patriot League having a conference RPI of 18 also helped.

I'm going to miss watching Jacobson during his senior year. He's quite a shooter and the Black Knights wouldn't have done what they did without him. He was just head and shoulders above everyone in the conference.

            Thanks for the replies, guys.

The overall numbers aren't that bad, either.

ODU is only 1 point higher than Army for offense and 1 point lower for shooting. The rest of the numbers are 3-5 points higher.

I think that we have a chance to do pretty well this season and build upon the success last season under coach Taylor. Hopefully my assistants and I can bring in some really good recruits for next season like we did while at Army.

Lett and Causey will probably carry most of the load offensively, Lett especially due to his probable height advantage. At 6'9", he's towers over most of the other guards. If I decide to go with a 3 guard lineup during some games, he may be moved to small forward.

                          Thanks for the replies.

                            2011 Midnight Madness

After graduation ceremonies at West Point, coach Knight and the staff went on the recruiting trail for his new school. Two recruits who were offered scholarships by coach Taylor, forwards Mire Ray and Byron D!ckey, accepted them and the others decided to go elsewhere. Coach Knight offered the remaining eligible scholarships out but only guard Chase Grizzard accepted.

After a meeting to introduce themselves to the players, coach Knight put the team through the drills and on October 24th, the Bob Knight era at ODU officially started with the annual midnight madness, drawing about 63% of the Constant Convocation Center.

After the unveiling of the team in front of the fans and local media, coach Knight addressed the team and after announcing the starters who would open the season, he told the reserves to not expect the number of minutes that they had gotten under coach Taylor. He told the reserves that he expected them to be ready when called upon to give the starters a breather and they would get more playing time when possible.
