Thanks. I was starting to get a little worried about the record, I've had a pretty off September until the Phillies series. Playoff-wise, the team is pretty much done now though My record chases are what's keeping the fans coming right now

Well, the record is now mine! After tieing the record, I sat on 73 for 3 or 4 games, but I finally was able to break it in what turned out to be a MONSTER game for me. Here's the vid:

And you should break the RBI record, too.

yep, broke it a couple games later. It was on a homerun so the announcers didn't say anything special about it Looks like I'm going to come up a little short on the steals record. I wanted the HR record the most, but I really want the stolen base record. Maybe next year. We just got eliminated from the NL Wildcard chase as well with two games left in the season. Bummer, but we missed the playoffs a couple years ago in between our two World Series wins, so maybe that's a preview for next season.

Congratulations on getting the Home Run record! It's unfortunate that you couldn't cap off the record with a Wolrd Series title, but it was still a good year! Next year you can maybe go out there and break your own record!

What's a guy gotta do to prove he's clean, LOL

Yeah it stinks to not make the playoffs, we seem to make them every other year I guess. We had some pitching issues this year that need attention in the offseason because we were tops in a lot of the offensive categories.

Never. The whole trick of it is making good contact by locating your swing. You can tell by the vids that I posted that I hit plenty of homeruns the other way. This isn't because I'm trying to go that way, it's just because I swing late a lot of the time because I try to locate my swing accurately.

Well the 2013 season has finished for the Braves. Here's a wrapup for the season:

The 2014 season will be starting soon and the team might be a little different this year but mostly it stays intact. The Braves were able to sign Andruw Jones on for another 5 years. Andruw will be 37 years old by the end of the first month of the season, so maybe this contract will ensure he finishes his career with the Braves. We did lose a couple guys on offense to retirement, both Shane Hillenbrand and Gary Sheffield. Hillenbrand was only with us one year, but he was a great asset. Travis Ishikawa will be back at first base this season for us. He did a decent job a couple years ago and it will be nice to have him back in the clubhouse. Sheffield's retirement ended his 26 year MLB career in which he spent 2 2-year stints with Atlanta. Gary was a big bat in the lineup the past couple years, he will have to be replaced. Sheff ends his career with a .296 career batting average with 604 HR.

There was one more retirement that will shake up our pitching rotation. Out of the blue, Tim Hudson has retired. Tim's last couple years have been a bit shakey and he decided to hang it up. Hudson has played for Atlanta since 1995 where he has compiled a 98-90 record. Tim's overall MLB record was 190-129 over 15 years. I'll miss Tim as he was one of my role models coming up playing in Auburn and then here with the Braves. Kyle Davies, who hasn't pitched on the MLB level since 2010, will return to the starting lineup in Atlanta to fill out our rotation.

There were a few other big name retirements throughout the league in the offseason. Riding off into the sunset is:
Lance Berkman (career .313 avg, 379 HR, 15 yrs)
Miguel Tajada (career .289 avg, 422 HR, 1640 RBI, 17 yrs)
Bobby Abreu (career .305 avg, 431 HR, 1641 RBI, 17 yrs)

Also retiring is former Brave SS Edgar Renteria. Edgar ends his 17 year career with a .282 career batting average. The last major retirement of the year was Mets closer Billy Wagner. Wagner retires as the all-time saves leader in MLB history with 612 saves.

In other offseason news, the Hall of Fame inducted former Brave Greg Maddux into their club. Maddux, one of the Braves aces during the success of the 1990's, enters the Hall with a 335-208 career record with an ERA of 3.09 and 3244 strikeouts. Also inducted this year was Pedro Martinez (224-103 2.87 ERA, 3312 K) and Trevor Hoffman. Hoffman retired with 563 career saves which was the all-time record at that time.

Alright, like I said, the 2014 season is right around the corner and here is what the lineup opening day is set to look like:

                            Lineup
                            RF JD Drew
                            LF Guiseppe Deleon
                            2B Kevin Bottoms
                            CF Andruw Jones
                            C Brian McCann
                            3B Willie Aybar
                            1B Travis Ishikawa
                            SS Eric Bruntlett

                            Notable bench players
                            OF Jeff Francoeur
                            If Mark DeRosa

                            Starting Rotation
                            Jeff Weaver
                            Barry Zito
                            Doug Davis
                            Kyle Davies
                            Chuck James

                            Mid-relief
                            Mike Gonzalez
                            Rafael Soriano

                            Closer
                            Benton Darby

Well, that's it. Wish us luck for the next season!

I was curious as to what your career numbers are. Any chance of becoming the all-time homerun king? What about surpassing Pete Rose as the hits king?
