                Recap

In a similar low-scoring game like last year's NCAA tournament game, Notre Dame came up on the wrong side this time, losing at home 69-58. Notre Dame shot poorly from the field while Washington State shot just above 50%. Notre Dame started the 2nd half on a 12-2 run to take the lead, but Washington State retook the lead and put the Irish away. Kyle McAlarney led the Irish with 18 points, while Luke Harangody scored 16 points and grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Irish must now travel to face an unbeaten Xavier team.

Wow how'd you lose to WSU? They probably had a really young team, but maybe that worked in their favor?

Sweet 16 isn't bad with a bunch of scrubs.

I couldn't make shots lol. Even the open shots weren't falling... it was tough, especially at home.

I think Moses Wafer is the type of player you would like... athletic, quick, and can shoot the ball.

Those were a couple of tough losses, especially the one at home. That might not look too good on your Big Dance resume but a strong showing in conference play will offset that. The game against Valparaiso could be a sign that your team may struggle and be inconsistant at times. I'd watch out for some of the "lower level" Big East schools once conference play starts.

                          Recap

Notre Dame had to come from behind in a hostile environment to escape with a 75-74 victory over Xavier. Notre Dame started off red-hot, but cooled down as Xavier took an 8 point halftime lead. Down by 3, Kyle McAlarney nailed a 3 that tied the game at 71 with 50 seconds to go. Xavier's Henry Butt then drained his own 3, taking the lead with 24.6 seconds left. The Irish got a quick two, and fouled Butt who stepped up to the line for a 1-and-1. Butt missed the front end, and Moses Wafer rebounded the miss, went coast-to-coast, and hit a tough layup with 2.3 seconds left to take the lead. Xavier passed the ball deep down court to Derrick Brown, but he missed a deep 3 at the buzzer.

The freshman Moses Wafer led the Irish with 23 points, while Kyle McAlarney and Luke Harangody each added 19 points. Tory Jackson didn't score, but he did pass out 11 assists.

Notre Dame will travel to Loyola (IL) to end their out-of-conference schedule.
