NCAA Tournament First Round
#13 Nicholls State @ #4 Notre Dame
Team 1st 2nd Final 19 38 57 47 31 78
Recap
Notre Dame made sure they weren't going to be bounced from the opening round of the tournament like they were last year by jumping on Nicholls State early and often. Luke Harangody scored 12 of Notre Dame's first 15 points, and Nicholls State had no answer in the post. Nicholls State was only able to shoot 7/28 in the 1st half while Notre Dame built a 28 point lead.
Luke Harangody finished the game with 28 points and 11 rebounds, while Ryan Ayers contributed with 12. Kyle McAlarney had an off shooting night, only scoring 9 points while going 1/8 from deep. Ryan Bathie tried to fuel a comeback by hitting 7/11 shots, including 4/8 from 3.
Notre Dame advances and takes on 12th seeded Washington State who defeated Florida State 84-64 in their 1st round game.

NCAA Tournament Second Round
#4 Notre Dame @ #12 Washington State
Team 1st 2nd Final 29 40 69 25 34 59
Recap
Both teams started off slow shooting the ball in the 1st half, but Notre Dame was able to hold a small lead at halftime behind 8 points and 8 rebounds from Luke Harangody. Derrick Low, who scored 23 points in Washington State's 1st round victory was held to just 5 points in the half, while the team shot just 8/25. Notre Dame's Kyle McAlarney and Ryan Ayers each picked up two fouls early in the game, so two of their best three points shooters were forced to sit the bench until the second half.
The first 6 minutes of the second half went back and forth between the two teams, until Notre Dame finally put a run together and built the lead to 17 points. Washington State chipped into the lead, and finally got it to within six, but Luke Harangody and Kyle McAlarney were able to ice the game by hitting all of their free throws. Harangody led all scorers with 22 points, and also grabbed 14 rebounds. Rob Kurz scored 13 points, Kyle McAlarney scored 12, and Jonathan Peoples had 10 big points off the bench.
On to the Sweet Sixteen to face... Memphis!

Starters

C Luke Harangody, JR (83)

I plan on running a 3-guard lineup to start off games. I think Moses Wafer can be a big factor on this team even though he's just a freshman, but if things don't work out well, I won't hesitate to start Ryan Ayers since he's the senior.
