Notre Dame quickly found out why Michael Beasley is one of the best players in the country, not just freshmen. After being benched with 2 fouls in the 1st half, Beasley scored 17 points in the 2nd half, and finished with 14 rebounds. Beasley dominated the offensive boards and also blocked 2 shots. Fellow freshman Bill Walker scored 14 points, grabbed 4 boards, and dished out 4 assists.

Notre Dame fell behind early and lost 2 of their best players, Harangody and McAlarney, to early foul trouble. Harangody was able to come back and score 19 points, but Beasley and Walker were too much for the Irish to handle. Kansas State shot 53% from the field and dominated the glass.

Notre Dame looks to rebound at home against Northern Illinois on December 8th.

Coming off a loss to Kansas State, Notre Dame rebounded well and defeated Northern Illinois 79-68. The 3's were not falling early the Irish, but they still managed to hold a halftime lead behind good post-play from Harangody and Kurz. Luke Harangody scored 23 points and had 13 rebounds, while Rob Kurz scored 14 and pulled down 17 rebounds, a season high. Kyle McAlarney had 20 points, but just shot 2/10 from downtown.

Notre Dame now has 2 weeks off until their next game against San Fransisco.

This game was over very early. Notre Dame showed no rust after 2 weeks off, destroying San Fransisco early. The bench was able to come in early in the 2nd half so the starters could rest. Kyle McAlarney led the team with 16 points, Luke Harangody had 14, and Luke Zeller contributed 12 off the bench. San Fransisco shot 37% for the game, while Notre Dame hit a season-high 11 3-pointers.

Notre Dame has two more non-conference games left before opening conference play against West Virginia.

Trailing 70-69 with about 40 seconds remaining, Tory Jackson was able to steal the ball from one of the West Virginia players and looked to have an easy layup in transition that would give the Irish a 1 point lead. Jackson, however, missed the layup, and West Virginia controlled the rebound. All hope was not lost, as Notre Dame forced another turnover with about 25 seconds remaining. The ball was passed into Luke Harangody in the post, who was quickly double teamed. Harangody passed it out to a wide-open Kyle McAlarney who attempted a game-winning 3-pointer, but it fell just short as time expired.

Luke Harangody led the Irish with another double-double, scoring 25 points and grabbing 12 rebounds. Kyle McAlarney added 16 points and 6 assists, but missed the most important shot of the game. Tory Jackson's missed layup came back to bite them in the end, but just 1 missed layup cannot be blamed for the loss. The Irish turned the ball over 7 more times than the Mountaineers, and also gave up 7 more offensive rebounds, giving them extra possessions.

Notre Dame falls to 0-1 in conference play, and will face UConn at home on Saturday.

With both teams looking for their 1st Big East victory of the season, #21 UConn shut down Notre Dame in the 2nd half for an easy victory over the Irish. Notre Dame could not a hit an outside shot against UConn all night, and inside shots were always contested by Hasheem Thabeet. Thabeet blocked 6 Notre Dame shots while also grabbing 15 rebounds. The Huskies shot lights out in 2nd half, and ended up shooting 55.4% for the game.

Notre Dame was led once again by Luke Harangody with 19 points and 9 boards, but guard Kyle McAlarney had a terrible shooting night. McAlarney went just 1/14 from the field, 0/6 on 3's, and ended up with 5 points.

Notre Dame now must travel to Marquette for an attempt at their 1st Big East victory.

Already 0-2 in conference play, Notre Dame had to travel to #7 Marquette to take on the Golden Eagles. Notre Dame fell behind early and could not catch up. Dominic James and Jerel McNeal were too much for the guards too handle, and Lazar Hayward also contributed. Luke Harangody had another double-double for the Irish with 26 points and 10 rebounds, but no one else really stepped up. Rob Kurz had 11 points and 9 boards, and Tory Jackson dished out 6 assists, but also turned it over 6 times. In Big East play, the Irish are only averaging 65 points per game, which is 10 points lower than their average before entering conference play.

The Irish will look to get their first conference win at home against Cincinnati next week.

Uh oh not a very good conference start. You did face two solid teams though so it shouldn't be too bad in the long run.
