Summary – The Dodgers played well today, but were unable to pick up their 9th straight victory as they lost to the Pirates 5-3 and finished 6-1 on the homestand. LA was unable to pick up timely hits as they have been doing for the last week or so. They hit the ball hard all over the field, but usually right at someone. “This is how the game goes,” manager O’Neil said. “You win some, you lose some. There will always be another day to improve upon the last. We were fortunate enough to win 8 in a row, but now it’s gone and done with. We will look to start a new streak in New York!” The Dodgers will fly to NY to play the Mets and then fly to Montreal to play the Expos.

                  Summary –
The Dodgers came into tonight game looking a little sluggish as they didn’t record their first hit until the 3rd inning with a bloop single off the bat of Alex Cora. They got two huge swings off the bats of Daryl Ward and Mike Kinkade, to defeat the NY Mets 3-2. Their pitching was fantastic, as usual, until the 9th inning, when everything fell apart. Gagne, usually Mr. Automatic, gave up three hit and almost blew his first save of the year. Luckily, he was able to get out of the jam and give the Dodgers the victory. Game 2 of the series will be played tomorrow night.

                      Summary –
The Dodgers did a great job of hanging in the game against the Mets tonight. Dreifort didn’t have his best stuff, but he pitched well enough to give his team 6 innings and a chance to win the game. The Dodgers offence relied on the long ball. 3 home runs were hit tonight by the “Boys in Blue,” that lifted them to a 6-5 victory. “It’s nice to get a ball out of the park every once in a while. I know that’s not my main duty on the club, but I have been working hard on hitting the ball hard and it has paid off,” Ensberg said after the game. Ensberg has been pressing a bit since coming over from the Astros. “I think I was just a bit nervous coming back home and filling the shoes of a once great Dodger prospect [Beltre]. I have come to the realization that this organization wants me and they are just as committed to me as I am to them.”
For the second straight night, the Dodgers faced a south-paw and hit the ball well, considering their lineup is left-handed dominated. The Dodgers are looking great as they continue to lead the NL West over the Rockies. Final game of the series tomorrow night.

                          Brown off the DL

With Kevin Brown being activated from the DL, the Dodger made a move that may surprise quite a few people. The sent down set-up man, and only lefty in the bullpen, John Rocker down to the minors to make room for Brownie. The decided to leave rookie Juan Cruz in bullpen for the time being. "We feel it is the best move for our team. Rocker is struggling a little bit and this will give him a chance to pitch more and regain his swagger," manager O'Neil said.

Brown, however, will not be in the starting rotation. He will end up in the bullpen as a set-up, long-relief pitcher for the time being. The Dodgers will continue to have Kirk Saarloos in the starting rotation. Brown is 1-2 with a 4.81 ERA. The only way Brown will be back in the rotation will be if a starter either injures himself or is struggling severe enough to warrant a change. The Dodgers have been shopping Brown around, but so far there have not been any takers. Nobody can afford Brown's salary. The Dodger said they will continue to shop Brown.
