The Bearcats held off a big performance from Pittsburgh's star guard Carl Krauser who had 44 points, to get the win 85-76 in Oklahoma. Krauser hit 8 three pointers and had 8 rebounds as well. The Cincinnati backcourt is what helped them win, Jihad Muhammad had 21 points and 6 steals, and Nick Williams had 16 points and hit 4 three pointers. With the win the Bearcats advance to the sweet sixteen for the first time in over eight years.

Cincinnati's defense is what won the game, they forced the Panthers to committ 17 turnovers, and got 25 points off of them. The Bearcats were down 36-29 at halftime, but stepped it up in the second half and forced more fouls. Panthers senior forward Chevon Troutman got into foul trouble late in the game, allowing James White to drive in more often and seal the win at the foul line. Cincinnati hit 17 free throws, Pittsburgh only hit 9. Cincy will face the California Golden Bears next, Cal defeated Fairleigh Dickinson 64-52 last night.

Some high seeded teams were upseted in round two action. Kansas, who two days before barely got the win over Tennessee Martin in double overtime, lost to Tennessee 85-69. Oklahoma State was also knocked out by Iowa State by eight points, Curtis Stinson led the Cyclones with 24 points. Washington was defeated by Mississippi St. 81-65, led by Lawrence Roberts 27 points and 11 rebounds. The Gators also pulled off an upset, as they beat Texas in overtime 63-59.
