                Wisconsin   23   24-47
        #14 Michigan    25   29-54

When Daniel Horton went out of the game with foul trouble, it looked like Michigan's run would unexpectedly come to an end.

But Dion Harris and Lester Abram held up, and Courtney Sims dominated inside once again, as Michigan slipped past Wisconsin in the second round of the Big Ten Tournament, 54-47. The Wolverines now face a rubber match with their nemesis, Michigan State. The home team won each meeting between the two teams this season.

        Player of the Game

Courtney Sims: 15 points, 20 rebounds, 4 blocks, 3 assists

        Lester Abram: 15 points
        Dion Harris: 13 points
Daniel Horton: 4 points, 3 steals

Mike Wilkinson: 14 points, 4 rebounds
Sharif Chambliss: 12 points, 4 rebounds, 3 assists
Boo Wade: 9 points, 7 assists

Nice win, Sims = MVP of the UM team. :y4:

                Good matchup with MSU/UM.
                Blind to this impending fate
We let the world carry our weight
It's back breaks with every mile
But we all live in denial

                    #14 Michigan            36   33-69

The rubber match between the Wolverines and Spartans in Chicago lived up to all the hype it had been given.

The two Big Ten powers traded punch for punch throughout the entire first half, with Michigan barely coming out on top 36-35. The Wolverines seemed to put MSU away midway through the second half, holding a 63-52 edge. But the Spartans 1-2 punch of Chris Hill and Paul Davus sent them on an 11-0 run, putting them ahead by a point at 64-63. Daniel Horton eventually regained the lead for UM, and Chris Hill's final 3 clanged out, and Michigan advanced to the Big Ten Championship Game with a 69-66 victory.

                        In the end, experience prevailed.

Michigan hung around all game against powerhouse Illinois--AGAIN. It was the same as when the two teams met in Ann Arbor during the regular season. Michigan actually led 31-28 at halftime, and had the Illini down 7 early in the second half. But Dee Brown and particularly Deron Williams took Michigan apart with their fast break antics, and Illinois pulled away, claiming the Big Ten Championship and a #1 seed in the NCAA Tournament with a 75-66 win.
