Wolverines tame Hoyas behind Horton's performance

What a great way to start your final collegiate season.

When he was on the bench, the Hoyas of Georgetown rallied to within 6, erasing a 17 point deficit.

Then Daniel Horton came off the bench and sank a pair of triples, and the Wolverines ran away with a 65-54 victory.

Horton has started the season red hot, putting up numbers that if he keeps them up, could land him both the Wooden and Naismith Awards at season's end. Monday was no different as he flirted with a triple double with 25 points, 10 assists and 8 rebounds. He also continues his march towards Gary Grant's all-time Michigan record for assists.

            Player of the Game

Daniel Horton: 25 points, 10 assists, 8 rebounds, 2 steals

Lester Abram: 14 points, 3 rebounds, 3 steals
Dion Harris: 8 points, 2 steals
Courtney Sims: 7 points, 9 rebounds, 4 steals
Chris Hunter: 6 points, 5 rebounds, 5 steals

Ashanti Cook: 16 points, 10 assists
            Lavell Chase: 16 points
Brandon Bowman: 11 points, 20 rebounds
Roy Hibbert: 6 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks
Rayshawn Reed: 3 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists

Daniel Horton countdown to 731: 634

            Next Game: Southern California (1-4) @ #11 Michigan (3-1)

Horton has legendary performance against Trojans

In his continued trip towards Michigan history, point guard Daniel Horton was sure to provide some great moments, and awesome performances, but no one expected this.

Horton led Michigan's blitzkrieg offense to 30 fast break points as he scored 22 points and dished out an incredible 20 assists. Dion Harris was the main benefactor of Horton's generosity, as he led five Michigan players in double figures with 30 points.

The Wolverines face two big tests next, both at home, against Kansas and Kentucky.

Wolverines stun Jayhawks with second half explosion

Any other season, it probably would be Kansas taking Michigan out to the woodshed.

But this is a down year for the Jayhawks. There is no Kirk Hinrich, no Nick Collison, Wayne Simien, Keith Langford, or Aaron Miles. And that led to an unbelievable beatdown, cued up by a 35-4 run at the start of the second half that put Michigan ahead 75-30. The final: Michigan 101, Kansas 54.

Daniel Horton continued his dominance with another double double, this time in points and rebounds. Four Wolverines had at least 7 rebounds, 3 had 5 assists, and 6 were in double figures.

The other dominated 'K' in college basketball visits Crisler Arena next, as Kentucky comes to Ann Arbor.
