Flying through the big apple? Let's go with Phantom Menace-level pod racing through a large hadron collider. Maybe the L Train, I guess.

    Them Madden deals.
Thanks for checking in, bud! Haven't heard from ya in awhile.

What I liked, at least at first, is that the CPU was more realistic in the negotiating process. I began with offering Decker straight up for Gronk, and they declined, saying they needed more value. In past years, I've been able to pull those kinds of trades off.

not gonna lie.. i normally like to DRAFT my franchise RB's but i'd prolly do what you did throwing the sink in to get Gurley and Gronk..

i'm starting a 'chise now and as much as I love building my defense and power-runner.. the QB is def a glaring concern of mine (not a fan of either fitz or geno)

Good luck with your dynasty, man! Jets are definitely an interesting choice. They have so much potential, but are weak in some crucial spots, and have a mighty tough schedule.

Just read through this thread and I totally didn't see those trades coming. Figured you might have made a trade for a qb due to the hints in one of your posts, but my mind was blown when I saw what the trades really were. Let's hope Gurley and Gronk don't flop for you.

I'm following, love the details you put in your posts. Hopefully you can take the Jets to the super bowl, I'm rooting for you!

Haha this is awesome -- love the drunken negotiation plot and dammmmmmn, Gurley/Gronk???

Only thing that scares me is as injury heavy this game is, and the history of both those guys getting hurt, I'm edge of my seat every time I see "player down" and hoping it's not one of those two rolling around in the injury animation...eeeeek!

Do it! I really like this game's version despite the extreme sensitivity on the sliders. I spent the better part of a week before I started playing these games tweaking and tweaking, until I finally found what I think is the most realistic slider set for me. Thanks for checking in!

Thanks for reading through... Most people don't anymore. I was trying to have the hints point toward the acquisition of a QB on purpose, just to make it even more surprising, and see the look on your faces (so to speak) when I revealed who I actually gave up, and who I got in return. I'm definitely going to miss Decker and Richardson, but it was totally worth it.

Yeah, I'm terrified too. I don't know if you saw what happened to Revis in week 1 for me. Dove to the ground trying to tackle Brandon LaFell of the Bengals, and ended up with a broken collarbone. Luckily, he'll be back soon, but, he missed our difficult 6 game stretch to start the season, with 5 games against 2015 playoff teams, and the other game a Primetime game against the team that cost us a playoff berth. Hopefully I can get through the Pittsburgh and Arizona games without more injuries, especially to those two guys I just got.

Yeah, it's funny how that worked out. Gronk, keeping the number 87, took Decker's jersey, who just happened to be conveniently traded at the same time. Gurley, though, was #30 with the Rams, and #3 with Georgia in college, but takes the #23, which belonged to Shonn Greene, the most important player on the Jets offense during their run to two straight AFC Championships in '09 and '10.

                          Jets Gameday Preview: Week 5

We meet today at Heinz Field, the staple of the Steel City, and home to many great Steelers moments over the years.

Enough about the trade. It's time to play a game, and this is a big one. The Jets have something to prove. Was it the right move to dump Fitzpatrick to LA? Will the addition of Todd Gurley immediately allow the Jets to run the ball? What about Gronk? Will he be Gronk, or will he be Gronk? Most importantly, can this team play offense?

You see, the emphasis today is on the Jets offense, because the Steelers' offense is among the best in the league in every single major category. The way the Jets defense has played, you can't expect much in the way of resistance, so if the Jets want to win, they have to hope that they outscore Pittsburgh, which is quite the task, because the Steelers' offense is loaded. Two weeks ago, the team of Ben Roethlisberger and Antonio Brown just went off, completely overpowering the Eagles to move to 3-0. Now, last week, they met their match, dropping one to the undefeated Chiefs, but the point still stands. AB is Big Ben's Lethal Weapon. The only problem? Martavis Bryant is Lethal Weapon 2, Markus Wheaton is Lethal Weapon 3, and tight end Ladarius Green is Lethal Weapon 4. We would add Le'Veon Bell to this list of deadly players on offensive, but he's sitting this one out due to injury. DeAngelo Williams is the workhorse out of the backfield today, but it shouldn't matter, because the Jets are the worst in the league when it comes to stopping the run.

Meanwhile, if the Jets want to run up the score, they have to do it against a defensive unit that is a lot different than those from the glory days. The biggest veteran presence is, of course, James Harrison, but other than that, there are a lot of fresh, menacing faces with a lot of upside. Rookie DT Javon Hargrave has tremendous potential, and was tearing it up in the preseason. He is joined on the front line by Cameron Heyward, a worthy, tested pass rusher. Moving to the linebackers, we find Arthur Moats, Lawrence Timmons, and the aforementioned Harrison, who will look to sack Geno, strip Gurley, and then stop in front of the occasional pass. Finally, the secondary is headed by William Gay, who should spend most of his time on Brandon Marshall.

All kidding aside, very very interesting developments to start to the franchise. Hopefully when everyone gets healthy you can have the best chance to contend -- even if it comes at the cost of my Pats.

I don't know if you know about Madden 17's in game scoreboard, but while I was playing the Steelers game, the Pats were playing the Browns, in Brady's first game back, and he absolutely went off, finding Eric Decker 7 times in the first half alone. They're not lying down anytime soon.

Gameday Recap: Jets 30, Steelers 6
Jets shut down Steelers in rainy Steel City

Todd Gurley provides the dagger in the form of a 23 yard run, with an awesome celebration, late in the 4th quarter.

How’s that for offense? The Jets put 30 points on the board, 10 more than the last two games combined. And if we’re being honest with you, the Jets left points on the board. They could have scored 38 points, if Nick Folk hadn’t missed a PAT and a 21 yard FG. On the opening kickoff, Steelers FB Roosevelt Nix got hurt as he took the ball out, which basically served as an omen. Why? The very next play, the first from scrimmage, Big Ben threw it right into the hands of Erin Henderson. The Jets were in business, and didn’t look back. First play? Handoff to Todd Gurley for a first down. Then, Geno Smith opened things up a little bit and found Gronk for a big gain that got the Jets into the red zone. Gurley kept running the ball like a beast all day, setting up for Geno to have his best performance ever as a professional quarterback. He capped off the first drive of the day by finding Gronkowski on play action, and Gronk trucked a couple of defenders to waltz into the end zone. On the next drive, the Jets established their presence of shutting down DeAngelo Williams and the Steelers’ run game. Pittsburgh ended up with 12 total yards on the ground in the rain and mud. DeAngelo kept hitting the wet grass and mud of Heinz Field, becoming more and more aggravated with each failed rush. Luckily, he didn’t even get the ball that much, since Mike Tomlin caught on early and just told Roethlisberger to air it out all day.

On the Jets’ second possession of the rainy afternoon, they were faced with a 4th and 1 from inside the Steelers’ 20. Todd Bowles called for FB Tommy Bohanon to come in and punch it through, since a field goal wouldn’t be a guarantee in these monsoon conditions. He got it, but the Jets were then faced with 4th and inches from the 3. Instead of going for it again, Bowles called Nick Folk out for a chip shot from the left hash, and he missed it left, but the Jets defense stepped up again, continuing to dominate the Steelers en route to forcing 5 turnovers from the league’s best offense thus far in 2016. The Jets made up for the mistake on offense, by pounding the rock with Gurley and Forte, the latter taking it 3 yards for the formality to make it 14-0 before halftime. At that point, life got interesting. The Steelers finally got on the board with a field goal. The Jets got the ball back trying to push it and put the game out of reach before halftime. But they couldn’t, as the Steelers vaunted pass rush finally began to get to Geno. In came, Lachlan Edwards to punt, but with the wet ball, it took the rookie punter a little bit longer to get the ball off, and there was the error. It was blocked by William Gay, charging in from the corner. The Steelers had the ball in the red zone. Instead of possibly being 21-3 Jets, it could very well be 14-10. And it would have been, if Big Ben was Big Ben. But on this day, he was a shell of himself, trying to force everything into Antonio Brown. This 3rd down from the 5 was no different. He had Markus Wheaton wide open on the flat, but tried to jam it in to AB in the end zone. Marcus Williams stepped in front of it, and had one of the easiest interceptions of his life. The Jets ran out the remaining 10 seconds, and took a 14-3 lead into the locker room.

Marcus Williams probably saves the game for the Jets. Who knew what would have happened if AB caught this...

The third quarter turned out to be a defensive battle. First of all, the entire Jets’ fanbase gasped on the first play of the second half when Gronk got flipped over after making a catch. He didn’t get up, and didn’t return to the game, but EVERYBODY R-E-L-A-X! It was just a hip pointer, and he’ll be fine. Since the game got out of hand soon thereafter, there was no point bringing him back into the ballgame. The Steelers brought out new looks on defense, which took the Jets a couple drives to get used to. On offense, the Steelers realized the Jets were giving them the short check down routes in the cover 4 defensive scheme, and took advantage of that, but their lack of a run game held them to only a field goal, albeit a field goal that made it a one possession game. But the 4th quarter? All Jets, and all Darron Lee. It started with a Nick Folk field goal, making it 17-6. Then, Darron Lee strip sacked Roethlisberger, and Mo Wilkerson picked it up, putting the Jets deep in Steelers territory. Todd Gurley punched it in after 5 or 6 plays for his first score as a Jet. But Lee, or Gurley, for that matter, weren’t quite done. Lee came up with his first career interception, saluting his teammates after being tackled, and then Gurley broke a tackle at the line of scrimmage and then went untouched for 23 yards for the dagger, even though Folk missed the extra point. How the Jets kept the Steelers to 6 points, I have no idea. But, the Jets are now 3-2. It’s all good. See ya next Monday night in the desert.

                                Darron Lee's strip sack....

Darron Lee's first interception as a pro...

This Antonio Brown catch is basically the only highlight from the Steelers today.
