NEW YORK GIANTS: Look for answers after blowout loss..

      9/13/15

      Written by: Adam Schefter

The New York Giants are at a cross road even this early in the season. A 34-3 blowout loss today in Orchard Park by the Buffalo Bills showed that the Giants Off-Season is a work in progress.

"It was the first game of the year and it's a work in progress for us. It be pretty foolish to be hitting the "panic button" right now." Giants Head Coach Todd Bowles stated.

He was hired by Tom Coughlin who retired after last season and became the G-Men General Manager.

Last year Eli Manning had 30 Touchdowns and over 4,000 yards with Ben McAdoo as the Giants Offensive Coordinator.

"Last year we had a pretty good Offense and it's only the first game of the year. " McAdoo stated.

A great Offense that completely stalled inside Ralph Wilson Stadium when Eli Manning threw 3 Interceptions.

"We can't explain it. Just one of those days where nothing worked. We need to be much more better for the season." Giants Quarterback Eli Manning stated.

The New York Giants will continue to look for answers in Week 2 when they host the rival Washington Redskins on Thursday Night Football..

Last year both the Dallas Cowboys and New York Jets made the Playoffs. Gang Green lost to the Titans in the Wildcard Round while Big D made it all the way to the NFC Championship giving Dallas Head Coach Jason Garrett praise. Rex Ryan named former USC QB John David Booty the starter as Geno Smith torn his achillies. The Jets returned to the Playoffs with Booty under center.

COWBOYS lose Romo, comeback fails against JETS, lose 35-21....

          RECAP

East Rutherford, NJ- The New York Jets(1-0) knock off the Dallas Cowboys(0-1) today inside MetLife Stadium but Dallas almost made a epic comeback.

"Almost? Almost is unacceptable. We don't hang our hat on almost. We lost today and that is not almost. That's fact." Dallas Cowboys Owner Jerry Jones stated.

Dallas(0-1) fell into a deep early hole as New York(1-0) took a 28-0 lead into halftime.

"Being down that much at the half was rough for us. We went in and talked things over and I felt we clicked more going into the third." Cowboys Head Coach Jason Garrett stated.

The Jets jumped all over the Cowboys from the opening kickoff as Rex Ryan's Defense was dominating Dallas from the opening snap.

"First half was us executing perfectly. In the second half we just kinda took our foot off the gas." Jets Head Coach Rex Ryan said.

Dallas was stale in the first half. Punter Chris Jones had 3 punts and Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo struggled throwing just 36 yards and a pick. He left the game early in the second with a injury. He landed hard on his shoulder breaking his Collarbone.

"I landed hard and broke my Collarbone. It's a rough start to the season already." Cowboys Quarterback Tony Romo said.

He will miss the next 6 Games as Dallas turned to backup Brandon Weeden.

Weeden was solid in relief for the Boys as Dallas put points on the board in the second half and outscored the Jets 21-7.

Weeden had 336 yards and a Touchdown.

Jets Quarterback John David Booty had 179 yards and 3 Touchdowns as the Jets Faithful praised their "savior".

In the second half Dallas(0-1) found some consistency for Touchdown Drives off Running Back Demarco Murray's 2 Touchdowns that cut the Jets lead 28-21.

But backup QB Geno Smith in mop up duty sealed the game by handing off to backup RB Chris Ivory who crossed the Goal line for a 35-21 lead.

Chris Johnson had 116 yards and a Score.

Cam Newton will look to prove that his 2014 campaign was just a slump and that he is worth the 107 Million Dollars Carolina gave him. Newton struggled in 2014 and the Franchise Quarterback was benched for Derek Anderson after a 1-7 start. The Minnesota Vikings missed the Playoffs in Mike Zimmers first year. This year they added to their Defense and the rebuild continues. Carolina missed the Playoffs. Both Teams look to rebound in 2015.

Cassel's 3 Interceptions prove fatal as VIKINGS lose to PANTHERS 19-6...

                RECAP

Charlotte, NC- The Carolina Panthers(1-0) redeemed themselves from a rough year last season with a 19-6 victory over the Minnesota Vikings(0-1).

                At least for now...

"Always nice to get that first win out of the way. We remember what happened to us last year after we won Week 1." Panthers Head Coach Ron Rivera stated. "We need to stay focused."

The Panthers dominated the Vikings and shut down Minnesota Quarterback Matt Cassel as Carolina's Defense was amazing. Specifically shutting down the passing game.

"Our guys executed perfectly I thought. They were just focused from the first snap." Panthers Defensive Coordinator Sean McDermott said.

Carolina(1-0) took a 7-0 lead on their first drive when Panthers Quarterback Cam Newton threw a screen pass to Rookie RB Dematrae Boatwright.

"First Career TD Pass from my boy Cam! Gonna be a fun season." Boatwright said. The Rookie RB finished with 101 yards.

Vikings RB Adrian Peterson racked up 145 yards but a fumble deep in their own territory just added to the Panthers lead.

Vikings Quarterback Matt Cassel attempted to answer back but was intercepted by Panthers Linebacker Luke Kuechly in the Panthers endzone.

"He jumped our route. Props to him for making a great play. Great Player." Cassel added.

This is where the struggles began for Minnesota(0-1).

The Panthers dominated the pass game holding Matt Cassel to 157 yards and 3 Interceptions.

Cornerback Josh Norman got Cassel's 2nd pick and Carolina took a 16-3 lead into halftime as the Vikings Defense returned the favor in making Carolina struggle to put up points.

A glimpse in the right direction for Mike Zimmer's Defense. Holding Carolina to 4 straight Field Goals after blowing major coverage for Newtons Touchdown.

"We buckled down after that. It's a step in the right direction for us Defensively." Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer said.

Cam Newton had 182 yards and a Touchdown as Minnesota contained him for the rest of the game.

"Great Defense over there. Mike is a great Coach." Newton added.

Veteran Safety Charles Godfrey got Matt Cassel's 3rd pick early in the second half.

"Bad Offense for us. We couldn't get anything going at all especially in the Passing Game. That's something we need to look at this week for next week." Vikings Head Coach Mike Zimmer said.

Both Team's Secondaries shut down the Passing Game as the leading WR was Jarius Wright with just 34 yards.

                Minnesota(0-1) had 314 yards of Offense to Carolina(1-0) 301.

REDSKINS spoil Dan Quinn's debut with 35-24 victory over FALCONS...

                  RECAP

Atlanta, GA- Up 21-14 at the half, new Falcons Head Coach watched his lead slip away in the second half.

"Way too aggressive. Too many risks, sloppy decisions, everything just crumbled for us." Falcons Head Coach Dan Quinn stated.

After back to back 4-12 Seasons, Mike Smith was fired last year. Dan Quinn soon took over.

The Falcons(0-1) looked solid in the first half with Quarterback Matt Ryan leading that high powered offense dropping 21 points.

But Redskins Quarterback Kirk Cousins found Desean Jackson break free for a epic 35 yard Touchdown that sent the score at the half a 21-14 Falcons lead.

Cousins got the start over Robert Griffin III who was nursing his broken thumb from Pre-Season. RG3 will return next week.

In the second half, Washington(1-0) shut down the Falcons as Matt Ryan began to struggle.

Ryan finished with 308 yards, 1 Touchdown, and 1 Interception. However he missed half his throws as the Falcons Offense began to struggle.

"Just never seemed like we got into much of a rhythm. We got a few Touchdowns in the first half then kinda checked out in the second." Ryan stated.

Redskins Defensive Coordinator Jim Haslett made some adjustments at halftime and Washington only allowed a John Potter Field Goal all second half.

Atlanta did finish with 566 total yards but only allowed 24 points.

Redskins QB Kirk Cousins was in rhythm today inside the Georgia Dome dropping 252 yards and 3 Touchdowns.

Redskins RB Alfred Morris contributed 97 yards and 2 Touchdowns. Falcons RB Devonta Freeman had 107 yards, Steven Jackson rushed for 2 scores.

"Offense was clicking in the first half. We just kind of fell apart in the second." Falcons Offensive Coordinator Dirk Koetter stated.

Matt Ryan's lone Touchdown was to arguably the best WR in the Game not named A.B, Julio Jones. He finished with 90 yards.

Redskins D-Jax helped Cousins out with 101 yards and 2 scores.

"I thought it was an impressive win for us. A step in the right direction from last season." Redskins Head Coach Jay Gruden said.

Washington(1-0) did make quite a splash in the Off-Season with their Free Agent signings.

The Skins will have a short week however as they prepare for Thursday Night Football.

Atlanta will enter a tough stretch on the schedule as their next 4 Games are on the road. Arizona, Jacksonville, New Orleans, and Dallas.

Henery misses 4 Field Goals, BUCCANEERS stomp EAGLES 47-7...

                    RECAP

Tampa, FL- The Tampa Bay Buccaneers(1-0) just dominated the Philadelphia Eagles(0-1) and it wasn't much of a contest.

Tied 7-7 in the second quarter, the Bucs rattled off 40 straight points.

"It's a crappy feeling knowing how we performed out there. It's just sickening. I am embarrassed. I know the guys in here are too. Absolutely the worst performance by our Football Team." Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly said.

Tampa completely steamrolled Philly as new Quarterback Brian Hoyer threw 212 yards with a Touchdown. Running Back Doug Martin had 3 scores as the Bucs pounded the Birds by 40 points in the sunny Florida weather.

"Great execution by us. Amazing game. We just did everything extremely well." Buccaneers Head Coach Lovie Smith stated.

Super Bowl 50 is at Raymond James Stadium this year as Tampa was upset in the Divisional Round by the Dallas Cowboys.

Eagles Quarterback Nick Foles had 196 yards and a Interception as Tampa's Defense forced multiple 3 and outs for the Eagles.

"We couldn't get anything going on Offense and we left our defense out to dry. Not a very good feeling in this Locker Room at all. " Eagles Quarterback Nick Foles said.

Eagles Kicker Alex Henery missed 4 Field Goals as Philly struggled to move the ball at all and score.

"It's one of those games where in order to fix it moving forward you have to look at yourself in the mirror first." Eagles Head Coach Chip Kelly said.

In the Run Game both Defense's showed up as neither Philly nor Tampa could really get much of anything going.

Shady McCoy had 78 yards and a Touchdown as Doug Martin had 77 yards and 3 Touchdowns.

Yeah that Defense was insane. Hands down one of the toughest D's I faced in Madden. I was Philly obviously and was held to constant 3 and outs.

Locker tosses 3 Touchdowns, TITANS beat JAGUARS 31-17....

                            RECAP

Jacksonville, FL- Jake Locker was in the zone today with 204 yards and 3 Touchdowns. RB Shonn Greene rushed for 119 yards and the Tennessee Titans(1-0) beat their South Rival Jacksonville Jaguars(0-1) 31-17 on Sunday.

"It's always great to get victories over your Division Rivals. Today Jacksonville was a very good opponent. They played very well." Titans Head Coach Ken Whisenhunt said.

It was a Defensive slugfest down in DUVALLL when both Teams stepped up and took it to their opponent.

Titans Defense held Jaguars Running Back Storm Johnson to just 54 yards. FB Bradie Ewing had a rushing TD from the 3 yard line. Jaguars Quarterback Blake Bortles had 282 yards, 1 Touchdown, and 2 interceptions. He was sacked 7 times.

"We had plenty of chances their especially in the first half when it was close. We need to be better about executing and protecting the Football." Jaguars Head Coach Gus Bradley said.

The Titans(1-0) took a 7-3 lead into halftime as both Defenses took center stage.

Jacksonville(0-1) struggled to start the 3rd Quarter when Blake Bortles pass was intercepted by Titans Safety Michael Griffin who ran 33 yards for a Pick-6 as Tennessee took a 14-3 lead.

"Bad pass. That's on me." Bortles added.

"They're a very good Defense over there." Bradley added.

In the second half Jake Locker found rhythm tossing Touchdowns to Dexter McCluster and Derreck Taylor.

The Titans had 334 yards of Offense to Jags 292.

The fans in Jacksonville booed the Jags as Blake Bortles went down 7 times with sacks and had 2 turnovers. Some even made chants for Tim Tebow and Jordan Rodgers to take over at Quarterback.

"The fans were as upset as we were today. I get it." Bradley continued.

Saleh's Defense shines in CARDINALS 41-14 thrashing over LIONS..

                              RECAP

Glendale, AZ- Last year the Arizona Cardinals(1-0) went 11-5 and entered the Playoffs as a Wildcard Team. The Cards tried to become the first Team in NFL History to host their own Super Bowl.

They lead the NFC West for most of the year and former Defensive Coordinator Todd Bowles had Arizona as the #1 Defense in the NFL.

The dream ended after losing 3 straight NFC West Division Games dropped them to the #6 Seed behind San Francisco in the Playoffs.

The dream officially ended on Wildcard Weekend in Chicago with a loss to the Bears.

Todd Bowles left the Desert for New York taking his first Head Coaching Gig with the New York Giants.

Many questions in Arizona were unanswered until today. Could the Defense still be great?

Robert Saleh was hired for his first Defensive Coordinator Position by the Cardinals after spending last year as a Linebackers Coach in Jacksonville. He was with the Seahawks Super Bowl in 2013 as a Defensive Assistant learning from Dan Quinn and Pete Carroll.

Saleh's Defense was absolutely dominant today over the Detroit Lions(0-1).

"It was great to see our guys go out and execute. Made great plays and did our jobs. Very good way to open up our Season." Saleh said.

The Cards(1-0) Defense reminded us of last year if not better.

On Detroit's first Possession, Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford fumbled the ball and it was returned 26 yards by Cardinals Calais Campbell for a 7-0 lead.

Arizona took over after holding Detroit to a 3 and out. A pattern for today's game. Lions Punter Sam Martin had 5 punts for over 311 yards to Cardinals Dave Zastudil 3 for 161.

Rob Bironas kicked a 21 yarder for a Cardinals 10-0 lead but they wouldn't stop there. Running Back Jonathan Dwyer rushed 14 yards for a 17-0 Cardinals lead.

To kick off the second half, Cardinals Quarterback Carson Palmer found trusty Larry Fitzgerald in the end zone for a 24-0 lead.

                              It was all Arizona today.

"Detroit is a good Football Team. The Weapons they have and Matthew (Stafford) at Quarterback. Give them props. They will bounce back." Cardinals Head Coach Bruce Arians stated.

But the Lions were absolutely punished by Arizona. Quarterback Matthew Stafford was under pressure every snap.

"Terrible job by us especially on Offense. We buckled hard under pressure." Lions Head Coach Jim Caldwell said.

Stafford had 190 yards, 2 Touchdowns, and 2 Interceptions as he struggled against the Cardinals Defense. He fumbled in the first.

"Hard game for us for sure. Me personally. I take the blame for this. I let these guys down." Lions Quarterback Matthew Stafford stated.

Staffords 2 Touchdowns were in "Garbage Time" as Detroit was ran over by the Cardinals Offense for 492 yards.

Cardinals Running Back Jonathan Dwyer rushed for 201 yards and 3 Touchdowns as QB Carson Palmer threw 282 yards and a Touchdown.

Reggie Bush left the game in the first quarter as he fractured his elbow fumbling the ball.

Rodgers leaves early after injury, PACKERS cruise past BRONCOS 40-15 in Denver...

                                RECAP

Denver, CO- Packers Quarterback Aaron Rodgers was playing like the MVP he is. Tossing 4 Touchdowns and had the Green Bay Packers(1-0) with a commanding 28-6 lead heading into halftime against the Denver Broncos(0-1)

But that ended with a Von Miller Sack that broke Rodgers thumb on his throwing hand before halftime.

"We took him into the Trainer's Room and ran some test on him. We wanted to make sure Aaron (Rodgers) could throw the ball. He was in some pain and he stayed behind for X-Rays with the Medical Staff. " Packers Head Coach Joe Philbin said.

It's now being announced that Aaron Rodgers has a broken thumb and may require surgery and could miss the next 4 or 5 Games for the Packers.

"Von (Miller) got me good." Said Rodgers. "His helmet just kind of grazed my thumb and I feel some pain in it. We know it's broken but won't know how bad until we get some more X-Rays."

Rodgers was lighting up the Broncos Defense for 227 yards and 4 Touchdowns with three of them to Jordy Nelson who also had 100 yards receiving.

Denver(0-1) appears to be off to a sluggish start as Peyton Manning struggled vs the Packers Defense.

Manning had 275 yards and 2 Interceptions. Denver struggled to move the ball.

"Rough day for us. Green Bay played very well. We need to bounce back after this one." Broncos Head Coach John Fox said.

In the second half Green Bay(1-0) turned to Joe Callahan at Quarterback. The young 22 year old had just 80 yards and a interception in his debut.

Callahan saw no NFL action in 2014.

The Packers racked up 482 yards total and Denver picked up 398.

Eddie Lacy had 111 yards and 1 Touchdown. James Starks had 69 yards and the Broncos struggled to do anything on Defense.

"New scheme for us. We will only get better as the Season moves on." Broncos new Defensive Coordinator Wade Phillips said.

Montee Ball was held to just 57 yards and a score as Philbin's new system kicked off with a bang.
