Re: Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense (CFB25)

    This Could Be The Year

We are finally back to update everyone on the 2032 season and it's been a great one starting off with a bang with the Penn State win we talked about previously. The 2nd time on the road vs Virgina Tech and we win a narrow one 26 to 23. We had 486 yards of offense with just 32 of those in the air and was 3 yards away from having 3 guys over 100. HB Clare lead the way 166 yards on 24 with QB Flood adding 105 and both with TD's.

After a bye week we finish up the series with Auburn and this year at our place. It was a easy win as the preseason ranked Auburn loses 3 of its first 4. Despite the score we had just 325 yards on offense and the passing game again 30 yards. It was FB Niswander leading the way with over 100. This game was about the defense with 3 interceptions by Senior CB Tevin Johnson. We won 35 to 17

Next up was Duke on the road and they came in surprisingly ranked and weeks later are still ranked 12th. We win this won pretty easy 37 to 14 with both teams a little over 300 yards of offense. HB Clare was the leader here 105 yards on 17 carries with 3 more interceptions by the defense.

We played NC State again on the road and win easy here 44 to 14. A big day by the offense 499 yards and 425 on the ground. Flood again under 100 yards passing despite a long 8318318 Comet - 8 Comet - TD catch by the 95-speed 6'4 true freshman. A monster day by Clare as we try and get him in the Heisman race 175 yards and 3 TD with over 8 per carry. Junior power back Phenix has 108 as well. The defense again is creating turnovers with 3 by SS Tyler Baskerville.

The final game to recap on paper the easiest we will face the Hooterville Farmers of Green Acers. We win 42 to 28 and their QB couldn't be stopped the best performance against us all year. He had 235 passing yards, 34 rushing (counting the sacks) and 4 TD. We roll up 526 yards of offense with 415 on the ground so finally 100+ passing game. Phenix had 141 on just 8 carries with QB Flood adding 88. Clare was held in check just 3.5 on 24 carries, but did score 3 TD's. We have 5 different guys get sacks. We are redshirting speedy HB Morgan Godchaux, but he got 10 carries today. He got nothing just 11 yards, but did score a garbage TD late.

    Key Stats

    QB Flood = 60%, 371 passing yards, 7 total TD, 1 Int, 418 rush yards, 5.6 Avg
    HB Clare = 651 yards, 11 TD, 5.3
    HB Phenix = 450 yards, 8.5 Avg
    FB Niswander = 422 yards, 5.0 Avg, 5

    S Baskerville = 37 tackles, 1 sack, 3 int
    LB Salcedo = 32 tackles, 5 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 Int
CB Tevin Johnson = 14 tackles, 3 Int
LB Kris Schwab = 32 tackles, 7 TFL, 2.5 sacks

      2033 Recruiting

As KSU becomes a better program they are still under a recruiting budget limited by 4* with a increase in budget coming next year. With only 14 seniors it allowed them to be picky on recruits and do a lot of scouting. This class will be heavy on offense skill type players with needing 3 FB's.

      Commits

      CB Nick Hixon
A 6'1 CB from Alabama comes in ranked #344 overall. The 4* is a gem highlighted by 98 speed and 82-man coverage. We are banking on a lot of upside here a 6'1 CB with that type of speed is what we like. We need some CB's so expect him to play right away. We lost out on another 4* CB to Clemson, but we had Nick higher on our board.

      DE Amari Pettis
The highest rated recruit we have ever signed at #174 overall. The 4* gem could be our first 80 overall as a true freshman. The 6'3 and 249 pound has 89 strength, 80 power move, 81 tackle with speeds around 80. Part of the deal was he we couldn't redshirt him so look for him in the 2nd unit next year.

      WR / ATH Frank Butts
A 3* gem that is our type of WR 6'4 physical type with 89 speed and 73 strength. He has just one badge so might have more limited upside then we would want. It's possible he ends up at CB since he is a athelte.

      HB Forrest Burfict
We are always partial to the power HB and we didn't sign one last class on purpose. That way this year we could redshirt the guy we sign then have him ready to start as a redshirt freshman. Forrest is a nice looking back 92 speed, 86 acceleration, 85 trucking, 79 break tackle, 79 strength. The big question is what's his upside since he isn't a gem and just a 3* recruit. We are still waiting for that generational 5* power back guy, but Forrest isn't that level of a player.

      Committing Soon

      DE Quinterrius Carden
A 3* Athlete power rusher likely to play DE at 6'3 268. He has 79 speed, 82 strength, 83 acceleration with the team player badge. He will redshirt assuming he sticks at DE.

      TE Frederick Abreu
We only have 3 TE's on the roster next year so we need at least one in the class. Fred is a blocking TE that's a 3* gem at 6'3 and 251 pounds. He has 83 strength and 67 run blocking. We don't expect much from him athletically. he has a chance to play next year as a #3 TE if we don't get one in the portal. Since we are deep at FB they double for us as backup TE's so maybe he redshirts still.

Despite Slipup Playoffs A Near Lock

Clare Has Career Game Vs Miami

Things got started at home vs then 7-1 Smoky Mountain Black Bears and it was a 35-25 win. This should have been a bigger win we outgained them 477-251, but was -3 in turnovers. We had two backs go for over 100 yards and our FB added 81. Phenix was 16/113 with 1 TD while Clare 21/110 with 3 TD's. The speedy freshman WR had 4 catches for 50 yards which is a lot for us. Star LB Schwab lead with 8 tackles with 3 people having one sack.

The biggest game of the year on the road vs top 10 Miami and going into the 4th we were up 20-3 and looked like one of the biggest wins we have had. They exploded in the 4th quarter with 21 points. HB Clare for us wins the game with a long breakaway TD.*A game for the ages for him 22 carries for 210 yards and 2 TD's. The freshman WR Atwell had 49 yards receiving. A massive win as this basically clinches a spot in the ACC game baring something crazy happening

FSU a talented team with a bad record spoils the perfect season winning 20 to 14 in a defense game. The next game vs Georgia Tech on the road a rare high scoring game we win 48-30as both have 400+ yards of offense. We are upset as they score 20 points in garbage time. Their QB had 361 yards and 4 TD's but had 2 interceptions. The 99 strength freshman Dillon Butts had 1.5 sacks as we got a lot of 2nd and 3rd stringers in. One of those was former Athlete Denzel Ansah who had 64 yards on 7 carries and is currently redshirting. Both Niswander and Clare go over 100 yards and 1 TD's. We had 3 rushing TD's by QB's including 2 from the starter Flood.

Re: Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense (CFB25)

          Wild Ending To Regular Season

Despite the loss to FSU that was the only one so playoffs seemed like a lock. However the ACC race was very tight so a 2nd loss likely means no ACC championship. The last 2 regular season games didn't go as expected

We score a TD in typical fashion vs #10 Clemson at home a long drive on the ground ending with a TD run by HB Clare. While in the redzone QB Flood threw his 2nd interception and Clemson tied it up at half. Fast forwarding to the 4th it was a very ugly game less the 400 yards off offense for both teams and a total of 5 turnovers. In a tied game late in the 4th Senior Jared Mckoy (82 ovr) gets his 3rd interception and we are in + territory to win the game and the ACC south. The Clemson defense holds up and we have to settle for 3 and they get the ball back with a little under 2 Minutes and 2 timeouts. Their speedy QB Randall Wear dusts off those turnovers and is on fire. They have the ball inside the 5 with less then 30 seconds and he hits a open player on the opposite side for the game winning TD. The 2nd loss for KSU and we will not win the ACC south and now the playoffs aren't a lock. A ugly game for the offense QB Flood 2 interceptions on 10 passes and no player over 100 yards.

The next game the 3 win Wake Forest we had already planned on playing a few freshman that were redshirting. Even though we officially were out of the playoff projection we were not sweating that with a ranking of 8. With a win here then not playing in the conference championship game some other teams would lose and we will be right back in the playoffs.

Wake Forest came out of nowhere and KSU was in major trouble down 24 to 3 at halftime. A loss here and you don't make the playoffs. The 2rd quarter saw one TD, but the 2-point play didn't pay off. It's 24 to 9 going into the 4th quarter and then Wake adds a FG making it 27-9 and it was beyond panic time in this run heavy offense. During the game we went to freshman QB that's redshirting Barry Cano and he provided a spark. QB Flood runs in a short TD. Then Cano finds a TE for a 2 and we are back in business. The defense holds up and we are down 7 for the final drive of the game. We are banged up at HB/FB and the injured FB Niswander scores to send it to overtime. We swap TD's in the 1st overtime. Then the start of the 2nd a beautiful interception by Baskerville. We just need a FG to win, but with a wild game aren't risking anything. Clare breaks a long run then the true freshman speedy Godchaux wins the game.

What a thrilling game maybe the best we have played all year. Clare continues his epic career as a 2* player 23 carries for 197 yards. The QB race is going to be thrilling next year as we don't win without true freshman Barry Cano who was 8/17, 111 passing yards, 48 rushing yards and 2 TD's.

KSU Draws UGA Yet Again In Playoffs

The good news KSU got the ACC championship game off and got back in the playoffs after a few weeks of rest. They also get a home playoff game which is a 1st. The bad news is Georgia for the 3rd time in the playoffs overall. They beat us 30-0 in 2030 in the playoffs. We have also played them twice in the regular season and always losing big to them at various stops. They come in rated 90 overall and us 85 overall. Will this be the year we finally are able to beat them ?

            UGA 4 Players

            QB Boon
After missing most of the year he is back starting with 13 TD, 0 interceptions and 57% on the year. He is a field general QB so not really a threat to run but 91 overall rating for arm and accuracy

            HB Oscar West
Starting HB and highly rated Blough is injured after nearly 1,000 yards and 10 TD. The mostly unproven Oscar West is the #1. He has mid 90's speed, but only had 18 carries this year. He has 3 true freshmen behind him on the depth chart

WR Nate Wiseman / Jimmy Calloway
Jimmy is a deep threat with mid 90's ratings in hands, elusiveness, IQ and quickness. Nate is another deep threat with 96 quickness, 99 elusiveness, and 94 route running. They both had 1,000 yards this year and double digit TD's each.

DE Jayln Daly / Jameson Tabor
Another elite pair of seniors for UGA and both well over double digit sacks. However, we rarely pass the ball so can they hold up vs the run as speed rusher? They are rated 85/88 run stopping and UGA typically is in a 3 man front with only 3 NT's on the roster.

            KSU Key Players

            QB Flood
A disappointing sophomore year has put his job in jeopardy next year. He had 4 passing TD's, 4 interception, 57% passing and less 1K yards. He rushed for 936 yards last year and just 562 this year. He needs to make some plays in the passing game to open things up

            HB Demarcus Clare
After getting snubbed from HB of the year he is going to be angry. A monster year 1,387 yards, 20 TD on 5.8 per carry. It's hard to see how we win if he doesn't play well.

            LB Kris Schwab
His stats may be a bit disappointing, but he is the most talented player on the team and best pass coverage LB. UGA throws the ball a lot and he needs a good game for the pro scouts

            OL
The OL is younger then usually and playing a elite front of UGA. Can they hold up with all 3 underclassmen in the interior

              2032 Playoffs - Round 1

KSU goes into this game not playing the best football and needing a miracle comeback against a 3-win team to still make the playoffs. Starting QB Cory Flood a once prized recruit had a bad year and many project him to lose the starting job next year despite his 90 speed. Also, It's 2032 and Napier despite a bunch of wins has yet to win a playoff game. The game is at home vs the in-state giants UGA

Both teams 1st drives end in punts as each team gets 2 sacks. QB Flood scrambles on a pass play for a TD to start the scoring. They answer with a deep ball to Wiseman that sets up a short TD run and It's tied at 7 as we start the 2nd quarter. We got stopped on 4th and 3, but thankfully we make them go 3 and out. It's 3rd and 10 in the redzone and Flood back in at QB and the lack of accuracy shows and he misses a open potential TD. After we hit a FG they march down in 30 seconds to tie it at 10 going into the break.

Flood got banged up so we decided to just go with the 3rd string QB for the series. In case the hero true freshman of the Wake Forest game is needed for a title run. He is a more accurate than Flood just a step slower and has the best pass of the night. He hits our #1 WR on a fake toss play down to the 1. We then have the biggest disaster we have had all year. Miscommunication (wrong button) leads to us not knowing the play and we choose not to call a timeout since we see it's a wildcat formation. Instead of a QB run its a double reverse pass from the wildcat and we lost about 157 yards on the play. That anger has us go for it 4th and goal at the 3 and we get zero points out of this.

It's still tied at 10 as the 4th gets underway and we get the ball at the 50. We are inside the 5 and it feels like they are going 100% run commit so we pass. That doesn't work either and settle for a FG. They answer quickly with a TD and we are down 4 with 3:30 to go and a QB at severe injury risk. We hit them with a power option to Clare and he is down at the 22 a huge 32 yard gain. The next carry he breaks a tackle and is down to the 7 and showing why he is the best HB in the country.

He walks in for the 1-yard TD and we take the lead with 39 seconds to go. They find Calloway for a 15 yard catch to the 44 with 20 seconds to go and 1 timeout. They just need a FG to send it to overtime and have a really good kicker. Then #97 Swearinger blows past the LT for the sack and we win out first ever playoff game 7 years in.

                2032 Playoffs - Round 2

Is Flood Now QB1 Next Year?

KSU and Napier is coming off it's 1st ever playoff win finally breaking the glass celling and facing the 1st seed Nebraska. The first drive is going well close to the redzone when a rare straight fumble by star HB Clare is a turnover. They had the ball inside the 5 and our best CB Tevin Johnson intercepts it in the endzone and returns to midfield. We are again close to the redzone when a fumble is another turnover. This time it was a bad pitch on the QB's part and no points scored with just 4 minutes till halftime.

They beat us deep a 65-yard TD catch on a wide open WR. We are driving less then 2 minutes around midfield and with nobody open the QB panics and throws a interception. It gets worse as its returned for a TD and its now 14-0. Our QB Flood redeems himself before half throwing and running a nice looking scramble TD cuts the lead in half at half time.

We hold them and get the ball back and Flood runs it in to tie the game in the mid 3rd. This is now 71 rushing yards and 2 TD for him. We are forced to punt it and get a massive break they hit our punter and its new set of downs. Flood bootlegs and its open and he scores his 3rd TD of the game to tie it. The next play they beat us deep again 81-yard TD pass.

Flood wasn't done with a performance out of nowhere in the biggest game of the year. He lines up the wildcat and his 4th rushing TD ties the game with 9 minutes to go. They have us 1st and goal at the 5 which is usually automatic points, but a 3rd down sack by Butts forces them to kick the FG. We are down 3 with 5 minutes to go.

We call a wildcat and run left and its wide you know what open 85-yard TD run and the biggest play we have had in 7 years. This is now 197 rushing yards and 5 TD for our QB Flood. It's 3rd and inches we top them for a loss then on 3rd they get a false start. We are one play away from winning again as just 2 minutes remaining. Rains finds a wide-open player for a 12-yard gain in the middle of the field. They go on for a 3 yard TD run and we are down 3 with 1:18 on the clock

Flood escapes pressure throws in the middle of 3 guys and Atwell our #1 WR drops it around midfield. A massive drop as we just need a FG. Its 4th and 3 we go to our best player on a Iform toss and Nebraska stops it and we lose.

                    2032 Graduating Class

                    Major Loss (key starters)

                    HB Demarcus Clare
What a epic career for the former 2* recruit that goes down as the best player Napier has ever coached despite his 83 overall. He didn't win as many awards as he should have, but did get 1st team all American this year. He breaks all Napier's rushing records and his career gets 4,894 yards, 48 TD on 5.5 per carry. His best induvial season was his senior 1,596 yards and 21 TD. His core ratings won't blow you away lead by 89 trucking, 84 strength, 90 speed, 87 acceleration

                    LB Kris Schwab (93 ovr)
He gets drafted in the 1st round and one of three players that went pro early. He was a great combo of speed (89) and zone coverage (90) and IQ (90). His stats his last year a bit underwhelming as tackles were 30 fewer then previous season. His career stats in 3 years 290 tackles, 34 TFL, 26 PBU and 10.5 sacks

                    LB Alejandro Salcedo (86 ovr)
We were higher on him then his partner Schwab coming out of high school and he ending up being outshine by him despite the 92 speed, 88 acceleration, 99 awareness and 99 pursuit. He finishes with 227 career tackles, 37 TFL, 14 PBU, 13 sacks. He ends up going in the 2nd round of the draft.

                    OT Jonathan Bearden (93 ovr)
A 3 year starter with elite dev that we got in the transfer portal was a great LT. He was a better pass blocker then run blocker and highlights 90 pass block, 99 strength, 93 lead block and 99 awareness. He also leaves early and goes in the 1st round

                    DL Roger Wilkins (88 ovr)
He finishes with 20.5 career sacks and 31 TFL playing DE and rush DT for 4 years. He had 97 strength, 87 acceleration 82 power move with block shedding being in the 60's. He only had 4 sacks his senior so that hurts his career ranking. He was a 3 year starter and got drafted in the 5th round

                    CB Tevin Johnson (87 ovr)
A 3-year starter with 10 career interceptions, 192 tackles and 29 PBU. He shined with 98 man coverage mixed with 91 speed with only a 73 tackle. He was the #1 CB the last 2 years and got drafted in the 7th round

                    DT Adrian Hagg (87 ovr)
A 4-year starter at the DT position and put up pretty big stats for a 320 pounder. We got him from NC State and he had elite development leave with 97 strength, 96 tackle, 85 block shed and 79 acceleration. He finishes with 111 tackles, 49 TFL and 16 sacks. His 70+ speed meant he could also play rush DT and stay on the field. We are pleased to see him sneak into the 6th round of the draft

Mild Loss (Key backups or role players)

                    DT Robbie O'Dell (85 ovr)
A good rating but was never a full time starter and just 13 career tackles.

                    CB Jared Mckoy (82 ovr)
He shared time until a breakout senior year where he had 56 tackles and 4 interceptions. His 71 zone coverage rating makes him replaceable

                    K Tyler Thomas (82 ovr)
A career 81% kicker and 85% the last 2 year and did a really good job from 40+ out later in his career even on the road.

                    TE Brian Duck (82 ovr)
He started the last 2 years and despite being a blocker he did have 846 yards and 7 career TD's. A 79 run block rating with 80 strength.

                    TE Malik Moncrief (75 ovr)
We thought he would have a better career when we spent a lot of time recruiting him as a 3* athlete. Once he got on campus his potential was limited and had a 75 run blocking with speeds in the low 80's. He was the #2 TE with 538 career yards and 3 TD's

                    OT Raekwon Cantrell (79 ovr)
He only started his senior year, but was the best run blocker on the team (93)

Small to No Impact (didn't play)

                    C Dom Linder (82 ovr)

                    HB Anthony Selzner (79 ovr)

                    DT Antoine Stick (81 ovr)

                    WR Cam Jurovich (73 ovr)

                      Napier's 1st QB Controversy In A Decade

Last Year's Starter Flood Transfers Out

We expected a QB controversy after 4* Barry Cano redshirted and helped a comeback win in the 1 game he played. However, It's not with him and Cory Flood who has started the last 2 years. Flood is one of the fastest QB's in the country (90) so while on paper a good fit for this offense. He struggled with accuracy and had more interceptions than TD's in 2 years starting. After only small improvements in the offseason, he has transferred out and should start at UL Monroe.

The newcomer is redshirt Sophomore Armon Tripucka who we just barely got a commit from in the transfer portal. The 6'5 221-pound field general QB with star development reminds us of the best QB we have had John Lyles. Armon is a good balance of 84 speed, 88 agility, 88 short accuracy, 84 mid accuracy and a very strong 96 arm strength. When you factor in 2-4 areas of improvement from key areas like quickness, elusiveness and accuracy it's what you love to see.

Barry is a former 4* also with star development and upside at key area's just maybe a hair less then Armon. He is a year younger so he is more likely to reach that potential. Barry's straight line speed isn't as much (-2), but overall a more dynamic runner with +11 acceleration, +26 break tackle and +12 ball carrier vision and +17 carry. His arm isn't as strong (-4) and the accuracy is basically a draw. He is better at throwing on the run (+11). He had a good offseason improving overall by +5 which is why he is still on the team over Flood.

The thing that makes this interesting is Cano has a playing time guarantee so if he doesn't start he will transfer out. It's also not fair to bring Armon in and then not play him. With a easy game against the Stamford Rasslers to start we do expect both QB's to play. Because they are so close I don't think we can make the call from just practice. Who would you start at QB in a 80% run offense where we would like to throw it a little more.

                        2033 Final Recruiting

Here's our recruiting class a smaller class with 18 people total including 3 transfers and 1 specialist. The recruiting budget will go up next year making 4* as the base instead of 3*. We had the 55th ranked class

                        Immediate Impact Players
                        QB Armon Tripucka (80 ovr)
We have talked alot about Armon in the previous article, but are thrilled Armon only came in at 3* in the transfer portal. He will compete for the starting QB job this year and we love this type of QB for the offense who can run enough and make plays with his arm.

                        DE Amari Pettis (77 ovr)
Part of the negative of the high-profile guys they don't want to redshirt so we will have to find a way to get him on the field. One way did that was moving 282-pound Swearinger to DT to open up room at DE. A power rush with star development and a boatload of upside. He has 89 strength, 82 power move and low 80's speed with a lot of room to get even better.

                        CB Nick Hixon (80 ovr)
The highest rater player we have ever signed as a 4* gem and he will start as the #CB. A 6'1 CB with 98 speed and 90's other speed ratings. One potential problem is he has 82-man coverage and 65 zone and we play a lot more zone. A ton of upside in this player with hands, zone coverage and run stopping. He could easily get to 95 overall range. We don't have plans for him to play any offense.

                        Future Star Players
                        HB Forrest Burfict (68 ovr)
We have four power HB/FB's graduating so a lot of pressure on him to have a good offseason. His development is impact so not as good as it could be. A power HB is already a hoss with 84 break tackle, 90 trucking and 79 strength. A bit of a mixed bag with 92 speed, 86 acceleration and 82 agility, 77 change of direction. The key improvement areas to make him special is 3 in both power and elusiveness. If he can improve those and get that overall up to 90 range for the voters he could win the Heisman one day

                        C Quincy Flavors (61 ovr)
What a fun story we found him on the last day of recruiting as he had no offers. Since he was a 2* he was being overlooked, and we found a diamond in the rough with star development. We went ahead and moved him to C which will hurt his overall grade for the time being. Just major amount of upside and will obviously redshirt. It's rare to see agile OL with 89 strength.

                        DE Timmy Burns(73 ovr)
A power rusher at 247 pounds that matches up pretty well in a lot of areas to Pettis playing the same position. He has 89 strength with speeds around low 80's with 78 in both types of moves. He will get 2 years of development with the depth we have at the position. He has at least 3 ladders of improvement for every skill

                        X Factors
                        FB Andres Vasquez (63 ovr)
A big ol boy at FB at 296 pounds who was projected for C/DT. He has 80 speed/acceleration so athletically he is fine. His blocking is maxed out as well 68 run block and 84 lead block. He isn't going to be able to catch passes or carry the ball so would be a blocker only. This is a project to see if he can play FB and probably will be the #2 FB blocker.

                        FB Donavan Bynum (61 ovr)
Niswander is leaving so Bynum will redshirt then take over the flexbone FB role. We searched far and wide and didn't love any of the options. Bynum has 90 speed, 91 acceleration, 88 trucking, 82 strength, 77 break tackle so the raw numbers are there. The problem is he doesn't have upside in the key area's and only normal development. With limited upside he could be a player we recruit over in this class.

                        TE Fred Abreu (67 ovr)
He has star development so you love to see that and we have yet to have a difference maker at TE. He has some upside in key areas like blocking, hands and route running. He has just 71 speed and 73 acceleration so will he be more than just a blocker?

                          2033 Offense Preview

This will be a different offense with new names to know as the best player we have ever coached Demarcus Clare has graduated. The QB controversy looms over the offense and which one of the new transfer Armon or 4* Cano wins the job. You can check more about that a few articles up in short we will be more accurate at QB so hope to throw it a little more.

It will be Shamir Niswander the FB that will also double as the power back. The senior will see the biggest jump in stats and could reach that 1,000 yards+ and 20 TD. Kenya Phenix is officially the #1 HB after a 879 yard season with 7 yards per carry also is the #2 power back. The former 5'9 WR recruit Godchaux is easily the fast HB we have had the highest overall grade as a redshirt freshman. We want to get him in space and as a 3rd down pass catcher. two more redshirt freshman Jewell and Ansah provide depth. We have 4 senior FB's on the roster with Rudy Mekari doing the dirty work.

As always, the WR group is the lowest rated and a lot of pressure on Nate Atwell as the #1. He has 95 speed and the best blocker at the position. However, his agility and acceleration are only around 80. He was over 400 yards last year and with a more accurate QB he could maybe double those yards. We moved Donald Pitts the best run blocker on the entire team including OL to TE. We are hoping that makes this run game even better and will also still play FB some.

This OL is special even with replacing two OT's as Bearden went pro early. You have grades 87 to 89 for everyone with no seniors in the starting lineup. They also have upside as well so watch out next year. Some of the starters like Yazzie and Cologne are still a bit raw in blocking.

                            2033 Defense Preview

The defense must replace some key players losing five players drafted including three in the first 3 rounds. The DL and LB are the strength with the DB being the potential weak area. This is a very young defense with only 5 seniors total and just 3 starters.

The DL is stacked the most talented we have ever seen. The DL was so talented Troy Swearinger the most talented player on the defense was moved to DT. He is just a junior and could go pro if he reaches some more of his upside. He went from 4.5 sacks to 8.5 and probably will reach double figures this year. The players behind him at DT are solid, but we don't see a difference maker. Dillon Butts our favorite player on defense had 8.5 sacks as a freshman and got even better. A speed rusher so low 80's speed and much more room to improve and that's possible since he has star development. He has 99 strength that sets him apart with mid-high 80's in both moves. Abdul Kenyon a 280 pound DE with a ridiculous 89 speed and 86 acceleration. Just a freshman is raw in other areas so watch out for him in future years. Amari Pettis one of the most talented players we have signed we somehow have to play. Enrique Andries a 4* with star development 87 speed, 89 acceleration, 88 finesse move and a boatload of potential.

Tommy Gage has quietly got better every year and should explode as a senior finally getting real minutes. Josh Forsett another player finally getting to play as a senior. He has always been a odd players as a 5'11 and 217-pound power rusher. Ben Bercovici shockingly had the best offseason on the team despite his normal dev. He will get a chance to be the sub starting LB and has 90 speed with 89 zone coverage. A lot of speed in this unit, but not the quality of player that we lost last year.

The DB is without a star player and the biggest weakness. Tyler Baskerville had big stats last year 94 tackles,5 TFL, 5 int and 2 sacks and his 89 zone coverage is big time. Andre Wusu the freshman shoot up this offseason and has elite development as a former 3*. He had mid 80's on coverage and hands and a lot of upside. Cam Conklin now a junior we loved his 94 speed, just hasn't improved. He has had 134 tackles the last 2 years. The transfer Damarius Cheeks is a key player as well 94 speed with star development just very raw outside of speed. The CB room scares us Shawn Cantu at 6'4 can play man or zone is the #1. The true freshman Hixon will start the bet player have ever signed. Jabari Daly will be the slot a 6'3 CB with 92 speed can catch and play zone

                              2034 Recruiting - 5 Must Have Guys

We have finally had enough success to use 4* as our base in recruiting over 3*. We have 15 seniors with HB and CB being the major needs. Overall not a ton of must have major needs. Let's look at the top 5 guys on our board now that we are a 3.5* school

                              ATH / WR Jason Brower - 4*
We didn't find Jason in the offseason so Clemson got a jump on us and the best WR prospect we have ever gone after. A 6'4 athlete so could maybe play some DB as well, but he is all WR for us. A physical player with 75 strength already has 97 speed and 93 acceleration. Just high 70's to low 80's for other ratings since he is a gem those should come with upside. We aren't sure what his blocking is like, but a physical WR with 97 speed we haven't scouted anyone like this

                              ATH / HB Cam Wilcox - 4*
A power HB is a big need for us so we might sign 2 and Cam is the best we saw and one of the best ever. He has the trifactor 84/85 in trucking, break tackle and strength with 5 total badges. He also has 93 speed and 88 acceleration. If he comes with power/speed upside then watch out. We will have to beat out the instate Colorado (and KSU) and don't have a pipeline state here.

MLB Jalen Purvis - 4* gem
A field general MLB with 89 tackle, 89 acceleration, 79 pursuit, but just 1 badge total. A fast guy as well 92 speed and 89 acceleration. We did make his top 5 and will bring him in for Duke. We have our work cut out to sign him as Oregon, Nebraska and instate Iowa State going after him. A no brainer lock for a future star player

TE Lenzelle Spears - 4* gem
A 4* gem blocking TE with 83 strength and 73 run block. The big question is how is he athletically (also hands) as typically blocking TE are low 70's. We are going all in for him and hoping to catch some upside and make up the slower blocking TE's we usually start. He has offers from Smoky Mountain, hazzard and Auburn, but we lead.

TE Jamichael Maginn - 4* gem
We have always wanted what a stud 5* type of TE can do in our offense. One that is athletically a freak and can eventually block. We get some many good matchups with run heavy boxes. He is a 6'5 and 253 pound with 84 catching, 89 acceleration and 88 speed. We love our odds to sign him as the only other offer he has is Rice. He might be such a pass catching threat we just have to deal with him being a bad blocker. However, if he does come with blocking upside then watch out.

                              Others

                              LB Jackson Mueller
A 4* gem run stopper OLB whose attributes don't blow you away. The mid 80's pursuit and tackle with being a gem we like him as a MLB

                              DL Nico Emmanuel II
A 294-pound run stopping DE who would play DT for us. He is 80+ in a bunch six things and has 6 offers

                              ATH / HB Duke Ekanem
We are his only offer we should sign him a 3* gem we could play at LB or FB. His trucking and break tackle are much worse then Cam's are. We think the power will come and already has the 93 speed and mid 80's agility and acceleration

                              WR / HB Andre Ha
Also a cool name the deep threat WR with 95 speed / acceleration would play HB for us.

Hazzard Offense Soars while QB still Unknown

                                2033 Season Kicks Off

The 2033 season kicks off with a couple of winnable games until the big OOC matchup #2 Nebraska on the road. That's the team that beat us in the playoffs this past year. The Stamford Rasslers are week 1 and they are one of the worst teams in the country and this one got ugly fast. A 55-10 win so a perfect opener to get a lot of players some playing time. We think this is the most points we have scored in 10 years. They couldn't stop the powerbone offense as we roll up 646 yards of offense with 478 on the ground.

If you were grading the QBs Armon Tripucka gets a slight win as Cano had 2 turnovers. They both had 9 competitions with passing yards in the 80's. Armon had 2 rushing TD's with both 1 passing. Both Phenix an Niswander was over 130 yards.

Hazzard isn't in a power conference, but was ranked last year and has a 82 team overall so not a slouch. Hazzard jumped out to a 10 point lead in the 2nd and we tie it up at halftime thanks to a big pick 6 by our 6'4 CB. We explode in the 3rd quarter with 21 unanswered points. They come back with 21 of their own in the 4th, but we hang on to win it.

This was a pretty close game and had us worried as we had no answer for their passing game. Kevin Keenan for them 415 passing yards and 5 TD's. Despite them throwing 2 interceptions we had 3 so we lost that battle by 1. A lot of offense here with both teams over 500 yards. It wasn't as good of a day for the QB's as Tripucka threw 2 interceptions, but hit 2 deep balls so had 200 passing yards. We have learned he will get the start in the big game next week.
