Re: Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense (CFB25)

Napier Finally Can Utilize Transfer Portal

For really the first time Billy was able to take advantage of the transfer portal and bring in 6 guys. This wasn't a Deebo situation as at Army, he couldn't use it then a 1 year stop and last year time was limited. We will highlight the 6 guys he brought in and unfortunately, we missed out on a TE/ HB that would have started. With limited resourced at a small school, they were restrictions on who he could go after.

Fr. DT Adrian Hogg (75 ovr from NC state)
The prize player and surprisingly we beat out some bigger schools. The best thing about him he is only a freshman and has star development with plenty of upside in him. 6'4 320 with 92 strength, 85 tackling with speed in the 70's. He has 1st round potential if the IQ rating goes up. We are loaded at DT so he will have to split time this year likely as pass rush DT.

So. OG Tyler Menzie (77 ovr from Liberty)
Just a sophomore and we aren't sure how the OL will shake out just yet. He has + development with room to grow and we specialize in OL development. At worst he is depth this year and starts the next 2 years.

Jr. DE Doug Maddox (79 ovr from Syrcuse)
Another big time get at 6'4 268 with upside and star development. Since he is a junior he likely doesn't reach his full potential. He has yet to record any stats and will be in the rotation for us likely in the backup role.

Jr. DE Taj Beckner (72 ovr from Western Mich)
It will be hard for him to get on the field unless a few injuries happen as DL is the deepest position on the team. He is strictly a run stopper at 272 pounds with just 58 speed. So it would be matchup based for him to get on the field.

Jr. SS Zach Roach (75 ovr from Umass)
This was a big get we have two great starting safeties (mid 80's rating) and at the time didn't even have a backup in the 70's. Zach will backup both S spot and start next year his senior year. He has 90 speed, but needs some work in the other areas to be a difference maker.

Sr. OT Trey Grimm (76 ovr from North Texas)
When he was signed was projected to compete to start until a +11 jump up by Talib among a few more pushes him down the pecking order. He will be a depth piece and since he is a Senior likely will not be next man up. The OL is where are attention goes and having a 80 overall maybe on the 3rd string shows how important we value this position. He is also a pass protector, and we have others that are better at that then him

Editor's note - Overall's mentioned are before coaching bumps

      2028 Recruiting

The high school recruiting as expected was a rough go with the limitations in place plus not much to sell a recruit on. The ranking did go up from the 100 range to 72nd with the transfer portal kicked in. It was all about time management here and we end up with 19 players. We had major holes at HB/LB so 10 of the 19 were for those positions.

      Impact Players Year 1
      HB Demarcus Clare
We didn't have a power back on the roster last year and this 2* is the best of the 4 power backs we signed. His 83 trucking, 80 strength with a + dev trait and some power upside will make him the power back right away. He has 88 speed and 85 acceleration, but elusiveness is lacking. He will get the first chance of getting 15+ carries a game amongst the 4 true freshman. We also are in love with a player in the 2029 class at HB.

      FB Mike Gentry
One of the power backs was going to be moved to B back / FB and its Mike. This means he will be the flexbone FB and bring some much needed speed to that position we didn't have last year. His blocking was a little better then HB Phenix and he has 6 levels of improvement. His overall may be the lowest, but he will be a major part of the team. His power and quickness may be maxed out, but with our training program his overall should shoot up this time next year when the blocking and IQ improves. His mid 80's speed isn't elite, but will be a big time upgrade.

      WR Cameron Jurovich
Another 2* that will be starting for us game 1 as the #2 WR. His 47 run block isn't ideal but with 3 levels of potential to go he should be fine next year. His 67 strength should also be 2nd on the team during the year. His speed is all over the place 89 speed, 78 acceleration and 77 agility with no upside. His 72 catching is about where everyone else is. We hope his top speed and being 6'4 can make up for the raw areas in his game.

      K Tyler Thomas
Not the biggest high profile position, but he will be the starting Kicker so could decide a game or two. We do like kicking FG's when we have the lead and he has 84 power.

      Disappointing Players
      MLB Kris Schwab
He was on our must get players a 3* athlete that was a position of need. He comes in with a high overall (70) and a dev trait. His upside is limited and we don't see him getting past like a 80 overall. He can still be a great LB as he has 90ish speed, but will be more of a sub LB.

      TE Malik Moncrief
A 3* jumbo 6'4 240 athlete that we thought maybe he could play WR. He sticks as TE as we needed players at the position only having 3 on the roster. He is upside is limited and it stings as he is one of the few 3* we went after. His blocking needs some work and that can improve so that's the plus. He is easily the most athletic TE we have so will get a shoot as #2 TE this year.

      Future Key Players
      LB Alejandro Salcedo
The 3* gem is the highest rated player on the roster and KSU is going to try and sneak in a redshirt year. He isn't at risk to transfer since he wants to stay close to home. We are unable to see his upside and potential (game glitch) so that's one reason we want to redshirt him. The 6'2 240 pound athlete will be a game changer with 92 speed, 88 acc, 89 agility and 85 tackling. He could end up moving to MLB or rush DE in the future. We kind of wanted him at FB, but he didn't have those skills

      CB Tyler Rambo
A 6'1 we about gave up on when another team jumped in and thankfully, we didn't. He is buried on the depth chart so is a lock to redshirt as the #8 CB now. The 5 guys ahead of him are all Freshman / Sophomore's and rated 76 to 80. He does have the team player badge so he could move to Safety. He has 91 speed, but low 80's for secondary hurts and makes S a possibility. The good thing about him he has a lot of upside in coverage and hands. He may not get on the field until his redshirt sophomore year, but should be a multiyear starting before the leaves.

        2029 NATIONAL SEASON PREVIEW

For the first time in a few years we saw some major conference realignment news headlined by the Pac-10 returning. We will talk about the major news and conferences here.

        Pac 10
They mostly get back to the roots with the additions of a lot of teams that were with them before the move. San Jose St a 2.5* school joins them they are coming into the season ranked off a 12 win season. Tulsa another preseason ranked team and a 3* school. This should be a good competitive conference without a clear leader with the 4* prestige schools being UCLA, Utah and Washington.

        Big 12
With Utah leaving they have the highest profile addition in former national champions Minnesota State. A 4* school they join the big boys after domination over Conference USA. They are preseason ranked 11th and the favorites to win the conference year 1. They have 16 teams still and are in jeopardy to lose a few more next year.

        Big 10
No additions here but they lose a few of the smaller schools they stole from the Pac10. They hang on to the big boys of Oregon and USC. They aren't expected to add anymore teams in the coming years.

        ACC
Just like the Big 10 they lose a few teams and don't add any. This now makes SMU the one team that doesn't really fit geographically. They are expected to add some more teams next year and Smoky Mountain and our own KSU have been rumored. They would like to add both, but we aren't sure if that will be the case.

        Conference USA
They go back to the 2 divisions and without Minnesota State it will be a much more balanced effort. Smoky Mountain is the clear leader here a 3* and 85 overall team. Wears Valley has really shoot up and is now a 3* school. They added the Alaska Glaciers a rebranded 1* school

        ----------------------------

        Heisman Watch

UGA HB - Conor Capra (Soph. 95ovr)
The former mega recruit is #1 despite being only a sophomore. He is the highest rated HB in the game with elite dev trait and potential to get a lot better. The receiving back label, but is a freak with 99 agility, 97 change of direction, 97 break tackle, 99 juke move, 96 spin makes up for the 92 speed. He is here based off potential as he should put up receiving stats in UGA's offense. He is already nursing a injury before the season starts.

SMU QB - Darren Washington (Sr. 92 ovr)
A name you may remember as he was our QB for his Sophomore year. That was easily his worst year with 17 TD and 11 Int. He has 82 passing TD and 9,600 yards. The former 3* recruit is known for his accuracy and mid 90's agility and change of direction. A real chance to win as he plays bad competiton and makes fan question why he didn't work in our offense.

Auburn QB - Jose Vilain (Sr. 92 ovr)
The improviser QB known for his accuracy with some speed as well. He had a monster year in his first year starting last year 4,296 yards, 44 TD, 9 Int. 64% and added 326 yards and 3 TD on the ground.

Old Dominion HB - Adrian Flanagan (Jr. 94)
The former 3* recruit is a odd selection here despite being one of the highest ranked HB's in the country. He doesn't have much production despite being at a small school He had about 1,000 total yards last year with 8 TD's. The receiving back we don't project will stay here long.

Notre Dame HB - Jamie Power (Sr. 94)
You got to love the power back with the last name power. His sophomore year he had 7 TD's and 5 yards per carry. He doubled his yards his junior year and raised his yards per carry to 6, but the TD's went down. Like the HB ahead of him we don't see him staying here long

QB Lyles Poised For Breakout Year

          Skill Players Preview

          QB
Junior QB John Lyles had a decent 1st year in the powerbone system and everyone is projecting a breakout in year 2 after how he looked in fall camp (+5 overall). A 6'5 224 pound star development QB with a massive arm (96 thp) and pinpoint short accuracy (98). We were hoping to see more improvement with his legs and that only saw a slight improvement. His 78 speed and 99 acceleration does give him the ability to run some. The coaches have focused on getting him to reach his full potential making for possibly the best QB in the country next year and Heisman trophy candidate. He just has to cut down on interceptions and have people catch the ball. He had a total of 22 TD's last year and the goal is 30 this year. Backup will be Fayad a dual threat who started 4 games at WR. Senior Goff is the fastest QB on the roster at 3rd string. It's safe to say the entire season comes down to how he plays and if he can improve this passing game when the defense loads the box

          HB
The HB spot is in much better shape this year with the addition of 4 true freshman power backs. That really killed the team last year as our offense is built on making the 3rd and shorts. Ed Childers (+9) shined late in the year so he will be first chance at #1 HB. He is more of a rotation guy then a bell cow as he is smaller and not elite traits. Senior Bollinger at 175 pounds shifts to the #3 HB role despite having the best overall rating at the position. True Freshman Demarcus Clare will be the power back and we hope to make him the #1 sooner rather then later. He has the best blend of size, power and speed with upside. A interesting story is Ronald Zimmons a converted WR who had a big time camp. The 5'8 and 197 pound wasn't going to make it at WR since he can't block. He has solid speed, but his 87 catching could be a real threat with Lyles short accuracy. They are 3 more freshman HB's that can step in and get a few carries if injuries happen.

          FB
We only had 2 FB on the roster last year and we like to have 4/5. It was a bust of a year for Fred Schulters the former 3* gem. He had a good camp (+7) and is poised to officially start and be the blocking FB. His high 70's speed means he can occasionally get a carry. The spotlight for flexbone FB goes to Mike Gentry and we need his speed (85) to make him a threat in the triple option. Donald Pitts a 3* gem true freshman will backup both of the FB slots. The 4th FB another blocker will be redshirted.

          WR
Trey Lewis (75 ovr) returns as #1 WR after a rare 500 yards and 8 TD's season in this offense. The #2 WR will be true freshman Cam Jurovich (59 ovr) despite his low overall we like his 6'4 height with speed and blocking potential. Fayad the QB could get some snaps as well a playmaker just can't block. Kemani Erving (68 ovr) a junior is the best blocker on the roster. Enrique Bliss (73 ovr) is a option as well, but he didn't do much starting last year. Another true freshman 6'3 Sal Tercero (59 ovr) could get some run as well. This isn't a position with depth, so we need to stay healthy

          TE
This TE room is very thin with only 3 on the roster and we have some 3 TE sets. Anthony Scifres (81 ovr) is back and the clear starting coming off a 26 catch and 289 yard season. He is a blocking type so super slow with the best hands. Sophomore Frank Garrison (75 ovr) is the best blocker we have. True Freshman Malik Moncrief (67 ovr) we have been disappointed with in camp. He is easily the best athlete on the team with 80's speed. His blocking needs some work so that could keep him off the field. Still he could put up stats because his raw tools. If a injury happens or we struggle we will play a FB at TE.

            KSU Strength Is In Trenches

            Trenches Players Preview

            OT
Despite losing 4 starters on the OL and the one returning missing the 2nd half of the year. You might as well say all 5 will be new starters as the best Zay Long (85 ovr) is still 4 months away from playing. The OL being a strength will always be the case as that's what Napier's specialty is. KSU has 12 players that grade out 79 or better. This means it will take some time to settle in on the right unit with depth clearly a strength.

Austin Talib (82 ovr) will start at LT despite being a much better pass blocker then run. The lack of run blocking scares us, but he is young with a little more upside which you with a major fall camp (+11). With the coaching boost a 98 pass blocking is hard not to play. Marshall Lodge (74 ovr) has reached his potential and a low overall, but the best run blocking OT we have. The transfer Grimm (80 ovr) likely starts game 1 at RT. We like the potential of freshman Cantrell (79) and he should be great next year and a big camp (+11). Hurns (76 ovr) just isn't a scheme fit and likely transfers this offseason. Overall we need to bring in more power scheme fit OL this year pretty badly after signing zero this year.

            OG
We love our OG room lead by the undersized Senior Mose Lacosse (88 ovr). He is the strongest (94) guy on the team and the best run blocker (85). The transfer Sophomore Tyler Menzie (84 ovr) we like better then the higher rated Hajrullahu (84 ovr). They both are strong (89) with Tyler being the better run blocker. He also a lot more upside with a dev trait. Andy Pitts (85 ovr) will get the call at RG the junior has upside and a dev trait. The 78 strength we don't like at all, but he is the best run blocker of the 4 RG's. Sophomore Quinnen Jewell (84 ovr) is next man up and a elite pass blocker (95). You could see him subbed in during passing drives.

            C
Just 2 C's on the roster so we will add one more this year. They are both highly rated, but again not really scheme fits. Blacknall (81 ovr) is a little better run blocker then Linder (80 ovr) and both are well below the 85 strength we like to start. We may end up needing to play a OG here. Blacknall is a finished product so that hurts him.

            DE
We have 9 DE's on the roster with 6 of them we are extremely high on. Alex Moe (85 ovr) at 247 pounds is the big name he has 17 TFL and 7.5 sacks last year and can get even better as just a junior. Doug Maddox (81 ovr) the big-name transfer with star development we love his 83 block shed and 88 strength with speed. Tah Beckner (74 ovr) the classic run stopper can be used in the right matchup. Julius Witherspoon (83 ovr) a junior had 6.5 sacks last year. The 294 pounder kicks inside to rush DT with the DE leading 90 block shedding. We think the sky is the limit for Kevin Kalu (81 ovr) a 268 pound Sophomore. He is very smart and fast, but is held back by 59 block shedding and 63 finesse move. Senior D'Imperio (80 ovr) likely loses his job after getting 4.5 sacks last year.

            DT
Junior Phillip Kpassagnon (80 ovr) is one of the most talented players on the team. A 296-pounder with a ton of potential that he likely never reaches. Despite just about 50% of where he could be he has 85 block shed, 83 strength, 81 tackle, 84 acceleration and 75 speed. He had 4.5 sacks last year and if the moves improve could read double digit sacks. Adrian Hogg (77 ovr) the freshman transfer has enough potential to reach mid 90's. He already has 92 strength, 85 tackle with 82 power move and once that IQ goes up his rating will skyrocket. Despite being 320 pounds mid to high 70's speed is plenty enough to play rush DT. Both players have star development which is rare for us.

Frederick Parish (80 ovr) and Robbie O'Dell (77 ovr) are both run stoppers. Robbie had a big fall camp (+10) and is just a freshman so can develop into a force in a few years. Donte House is a former 2* with impact dev we like for the future and he had a big fall camp also (+8). Bowser (76 ovr) a former 1* is undersized and provides solid depth

Sua Mix Leads Veteran Back 6

              LB & DB Preview

              LB
Sua Mix returns for his senior season after winning the nations top LB last year. He isn't expected to be able to duplicate last years 106 tackle, 6 int and 4 sack season. Abdul Brisker (74 ovr) started as a raw super speedy (89) true freshman and had 76 tackles. He improved a lot (+6) over the offseason and should be even better. We only use a 2 LB system so if they stay healthy not a lot of others will play.

Senior Brenton Cornell (84 ovr) is a starting caliber and will be the #1 backup at both spots. You shouldn't really see a drop-off with him on the field. The next two big names are the two 3* gem true freshman Kris Schwab (70 ovr) and Alejandro Salced0 (74 ovr) and we will try and sneak in a redshirt year for both of them. There is 2 more guys we just signed we are also high on that will be redshirted. We have a few more guys we think will be solid and provide depth as long as it's not a major injury like Coco Bouye (75 ovr) and Devin Mccracken (74 ovr). The numbers are thin if we redshirt all 4 guys, so we need to take full advantage of the 4-game rule.

              CB
We have 8 CB's on the roster and its spread-out great lead by two veteran starters Connor Westerman (84 ovr) and Ty Abreu (82 ovr) who started last year. They are both 6'2 with 90+ speed with one being better at Zone and the other man. Abreau has the best hands and had 4 int last year. We have two redshirt sophomores ready to take over next year. Rashawn Singleton (80 ovr) a slot player with some upside. The #3 will be Demario Bakhtiaro (81 ovr) 6'2 with amazing hands (94) that can run and lock you up in man coverage. We see him being a All-conference type of player next year. We should have moved Jeremy Runyan (77 ovr) to S since he is slower and has the team player badge

              S
We also return both starting Safeties Tyler Barbers (85 ovr) and Fred Hoke (88 ovr). You won't find a better duo at a 1* school then these two. Babers had 5 int last year and 84 tackles with Hoke having no interceptions and 68 tackles. Zach Roach (76 ovr) provides much needed depth at both spots as that was a big issue last year. He has speed and is raw everyone else. Sophomore Bid Gideon (74 ovr) another speedy hybrid type is the backup. We don't have a lot of depth here

                KSU vs Alaska

A Odd Game Kicking Off The Year

Editor's Note - This was a odd game on and off the field. A few of the highlights didn't save including the best run I've had. I've also tweaked sliders lowering my defense Int and lowering flags. I also had a lot of plays mostly because the cpu keep on getting hurt stopping the clock as I play with accelerated clock on.

We face the Alaska Glaciers a rebranded team that may be the worst team in the country. They moved to conference USA this year with the other rebrand teams. We start off with a 9-play drive and it ends with a T. We hit that true freshman for a short TD pass out of the power T formation. Backup QB Fayad then has the run of the year out of the wildcat formation a beautiful 25-yard TD run. We are looking to go up 21-0 then we get the shaft on a fumble. The first time we have ever see this type of place and it's ruled a fumble, and Lyles clearly scored a TD in our eyes. Its 3rd down we are on defense, and we have a bad call and they beat us for a long TD pass. A big 36 yard catch by the true freshman WR got the ball to the 1 with 7 seconds on until half time. We pass up the FG and QB Lyles powers it in for the score.

It was a rough 1st half for our breakout QB and the 4 drops didn't help. The big thing was a ridiculous 9 flags for 77 yards. We go to the locker room just up 7 when we should easily be up by about 21. We have 360 yards of offense and get the ball

A little later in the 3rd they hit ita 80-yard TD and cut the lead to 3 in the mid 3rd. Lyles gets hit while throwing and Alaska picks it up and all of a sudden, we are losing. We bounce back with a TD pass to take the lead by 3 in the 4th. With about 2 minutes to go our freshman HB Clare fumbles in the bad weather. The defense holds on and we win a odd and ugly game.

We def should have won this game by more winning the turnover battle by 2. The bad call cost us 7 points, but those will happen occasionally. The biggest thing was flags they got called 3 for 31. Then we got hit with 14 for 127. That easily cost us 2 TD's. Then they keep on faking injuries (game glitch) to stop the clock.

The positives Lyles was awesome bouncing back from a bad 1st half. He was 52% even with the drops and 0 turnovers as we aren't counting the fumble. He had 120 passing yards,87 rushing yards and 3 total TD. Ed Childers and True freshman Clare both had over 100 yards rushing. The athletic B back True freshman Gentry went 13 for 61. The transfer DL's both had sacks and FS Barber 2 int. Our starting OG's Pitts and Lacosse combine for 25 pancake blocks and we didn't get sacked except once.

                  KSU vs Ranked Tulsa

How Good Is This Defense ?

A interesting non-conference game vs Tulsa which was moved to a home game for KSU. The conference commish only gave us 2 home games so this helped make up for it a bit. Tulsa comes into the season ranked #12 and a member of the new Pac-12. They are led by a good defense, but lost 46 to 13 vs Arkansas week 1. They run the opposite offense then us a super-fast pace and passing offense

Tulsa takes a 9-0 lead after the 1st and then adds a FG. We get on the board with a TD run by the backup QB Fayad. Then HB Childers on a option scores. We outscore them by 7 at halftime and are down 2 points. It was looking like a offense game, but the 2nd half was all about defense with no TD's scored. We kick 2 FG and the defense gets some turnovers and we beat a ranked team 23 to 22.

A ugly win, but we will take it maybe the best win Napier has had at KSU. The defense deserves the credit here bouncing back to nearly nothing in the 2nd half. Lyles throws a bad pick late in the game and then Babers seals it a few plays later. Not a whole lot of stats in this one on offense as true freshman HB Clare didn't do much. The LB duo of Mix and Brisker gets the game ball. Childers was banged up so missed a few quarters.

Napier Makes Huge Promise If Two Recruits Commit

                    2029 Recruiting Board

We are talking about the 2029 recruiting board where we are still a 1* school. This means just 350 hours during the season so we have to very cautious of where we spend the time. We still have limits to a few 3* that have us in top 5 preseason. The grades are still rough so we likely can't beat any other school out or wouldn't be worth the risk. Like always we break our needs into 3 tiers. We have 13 seniors and 19 juniors so this won't be a huge class.

                    Major
                    QB
                    WR
                    TE

                    Mild
                    HB
                    B back (FB)
                    C
                    OT
                    MLB
                    OLB
                    CB
                    S

                    Low
                    OG
                    DE
                    DT

Napier's name has been rumored to go to a bigger school in a few years. We have learned that he made a deal with two 3* recruits. That if they both sign he wouldn't leave KSU as long as they are on the roster. You hear about players that you point to and say they turned the program around. We don't think we know we have those two players in this class. Now we just have to get them to commit.

QB is a major need Lyles and Fayad are juniors with Lyles being the starter if he returns to school. We did sign a QB this past year in 2* Coco Dell. He is more of the backup type of player. We scouted two QB's preseason both 3* and thankfully one of them wanted to come and we think he is a hidden gem. 6'1 Cory Flood from Florida who has B- dealbreaker for coach prestige which we just barley have. From the timing standpoint it's perfect as he would redshirt his first year. Then he would take over as the starter his redshirt freshman year. Even if Lyles go pro/ transfers Fayad would be the starter next year with his athletic ability.

The first thing you notice is his arm strength rated 94 which is rare for a scrambling QB that's a 3*. His accuracy mid to high 70's with short being 79 is pretty solid. He is a mobile archetype so 82 speed and 86 acceleration so not a burner yet plenty enough to be a dual threat. We would like to see some upside in his speed which we won't know until he is on campus. The biggest negative would be his abilities with just 1 mental and 1 physical

The amazing news is he doesn't have any other offers so we lead by a huge margin as he is down to his top 5 schools already. He does value the coach prestige which is a win for us. We are hoping he his 3rd interest is playing close to home over Academics. If he does we can move to the hard sell.

                    --------------------
We signed 4 power backs in the last class while its not a major need. I don't think we signed a truly special player at that spot. We would have that guy if we can get power back athlete Shamir Niswander. A 6'1 226 pound gem from Florida. We would probably play him at the B back spot and double him as the power HB like we did with Kane Udoh at Army. He comes in rated on the higher side of 3* at 563rd compared to 930 of the QB.

The first thing when looking at a power back is well power and he has that 85 trucking, 79 strength with a lower than ideal 73 break tackle. The speed is what sets him apart a blistering 91 grade with high end 88 acceleration. That combo of power and speed makes him a Heisman caliber player in the powerbone offense. They will be some competition to get him with 2 more smaller schools going for him. Despite the depth at the position, we have he would start day 1 for us somewhere.

                    -----------------------
                    TE Colin Gallagher
A 2* blocking TE with the big size at 6'5 248 pounds. We love the 77 strength and 66 run block and would play next year

ATH WR / CB Parker Childress
A 3* rated pretty highly so could play WR, CB or maybe even both. He is 6'2 with 92 jump and 88 speed. A 3* guy with Western Kentucky also wanting to get him. He has the team player badge so we like that.

ATH WR / CB Shawn Cantu
Another athlete WR type that 6'4 a little faster then Parker, but not the jumping. His lack of abilities tell us he could have limited upside.

                    WR Zach Mond
A pretty unusual player for us a deep threat WR at 6'3. He has 93 speed and 93 acceleration so we thought maybe we should move him to HB. However, we are trying to get more dynamic at WR so maybe he sticks to that position. We are his only offer at moment

                    ATH TE Troy Swearinger
A 3* guy projected to be a power rush DE with no other offers we like our chances. The purple winning time ability with size and speed make him a great looking prospect. Do we try and move him to TE at 6'4 280 pounds with 87 strength and 81 speed ?

                      Coaching Deep Dive

We haven't took a deep dive and look into the coaches in a while. We will not only look at the skills of Head Coach Billy Napier. We will also look at the two assistant coaches where Billy made his first hire as a head coach this offseason.

                      HC - Billy Napier - level 21 - B+ Prestige
                      OC - Jim Dockery - level 23 - F Prestige
                      DC - Jeff Moss - level 19 - D- prestige

                      Napier (taction)
He is now invested his time heavy in the architect skills and maxed them out for both OL and HB. This gives additional boost for in game goals, every 3-game win streak, a chance to increase best skill cap when winning a conference title. The one we are most excited about is chance to increase a random skill cap when leveling up. This will be key with so many 2* players on this team. We do have the first 2 of those for QB as well.

The taction skill tree we have also spent a lot of time at in the first few years we have those maxed out as well for HB and OL. With a boost for QB throw on the run / change of direction and for WR/TE Blocking. The fun one we have which we hope to use next year is cross training OL/DL and WR/CB. We have our eyes here on the 2nd tier and ground and pound tree. We need 5 more top 25 wins and likely will not get another this year. We could reach level 22 next game and prob invest in the QB architect since we think we have a future star going to commit to us.

The motivator was one we also wanted to do and the big one here was the off-season training boost. We have unlocked that for OL and HB as well. We don't have any plans for the time being to spend time here as we will save it for other stuff and hopefully keep our OC that has master motivator unlocked .

                      Jim Dockery (motivator)
We hired him hoping he would have the offseason training boost for QB and unfortunately, he didn't get until after the offseason. The good thing he will have that next year as that's a skill we don't have. This was our first hire and we love the guy even if his national pipeline recruiting was a lie. He has the offseason training boost just like us for HB and OL. This means we double up at the most important positions in this offense.

What separates him is he has the 2nd tier of motivator something we don't have. He has the first 2 tiers unlocked for all offense positions plus DL. This means faster recover from injuries and boost to toughness and stamina. The big increase all XP gains he has for HB, WR, OL and DL. The composure boosts he has will not mean a lot in this smaller conference. He does have a few boost to in game skills for HB and OL as well.

                      Jeff Moss (taction)
Last year's DC returns, and he shines at that both on offense and defense. This is key and it means we triple up HB's blocking and trucking and OL pass blocking. Infact of the 16 possible offense in game boost he has 13 of them. He has 13 of the 16 for defense as well and maxed out DL and DB's. He also has the cross training boost for 3 of the 4 this means we double up on all OL/DL and WR /DB. We likely will take advantage of that at some point soon just need the right player.

He is the only coach we have that has any recruiting ability so as you see a super valuable and versatile coach. The big one for us less time to scout and he has that for all defense and special team's positions. The DL is his specialty so we can give a extra 10 hours to them

                        3-1 Headed Into Conference Play

Things went really well in non conference play as KSU goes 3-1 with a big win vs Wears Valley then a loss for #1 UGA.

Wears Valley now a 3* now it's a 31 to 12 win as the defense again plays well. 339 yards of offense to just 241 and defense does it with just turnover. Lyles was banged up so split time and both QB's played well. Lyles was 7/8 with 1 TD and 0 int while Fayad also was 9/12 with 1 TD and added 45 yards rushing. The power run game wasn't as efficient with the FB less then 2 yards per carry. No standout performances on defense with the big news Senior SS Fred Hoke (86 ovr) breaking his collarbone so will be out the 7 more weeks.

The next game was on the road vs #1 UGA losing 39 to 3 with just over 200 yards of offense. The defense didn't play all that bad despite the UGA team being loaded and defending national champions. But the offense greatly struggled with 5 turnovers and 2 safeties. You clearly aren't going to beat a team like that with so many mistakes. Most of the turnovers came with the option game and not interceptions just 1 of those. Fayad again had to see snaps at QB and played well. The DB played well with 2 interceptions against the reigning Heisman trophy winner

The rest of the schedule is looking promising without a ranked team. However, we got the shaft with 6 of 8 games on the road. We have a high team rating 85 overall so will be favorites in all games despite us being a 1* team. The next 3 games all on the road will be key if we can survive that playoffs are possible.

Game Changing HB / FB Commit

                          First Commits Of 2029

We did a article a few weeks back about two 3* gems Napier was trying desperately to get. He made a promise he wouldn't leave the school as long as they were on the roster. The first of those Power back Shamir Niswander has committed. The 2nd Cory Flood we are expected to sign in a few weeks as we are his only offer. The lack of recruiting hours has lead to just 2 commits so far.

Shamir is 6'1 226-pound athlete so he can play HB, FB or B back in this offense. Since 3 of our top 4 HBs are returning next year, and we have 2 more in last year's class. We are thinking he would probably be the B back which is the FB in the flexbone. The first thing you notice about Shamir is the 91 speed and 88 acceleration as a power back. We would like to see the break tackle (73) to be a little higher, but that should come in time and he does have high trucking (85). The top two FB's in the offense will also have the benefit of offseason training which we specialize in. It will be a crowded RB room with so many players returning. As a 1* school you find a way to get players like Shamir on the field day 1. Many are saying he could be the first Heisman trophy candidate we have had.

One of the other few 3* we have on our back is athlete Parker Childress projected to be a WR. He is 6'2 physical type with 88 speed, 66 strength, 90 acceleration. His hands (74) need some work but is better at in traffic and spec catch. It is possible he could be a 2 way player for us. When you add him being a athlete with the team player badge he would be versatile player

We only have 13 seniors on this team so it allowed us to scout and be limited in who we offer this year. We still have 14 guys we need to scout on the board whenever we can get some free time.

                            Conference Opener Against App State

                            Where's the defense ?

App state is up 10 to 0 after a few plays in the 2nd quarter. Then they score again to go up 17-0 and KSU has had zero offense. Finally, we get on the board with a TD run by the 3rd string QB. App State's QB Reyna just keeps on destroying us more so than the reigning Heisman trophy winner at UGA. We end up swapping TD's, but we get the 2-point play and they don't so the lead is down to 11. Transfer addition Zach Roach starting this game because injury gets a beautiful jumping interception in the endzone. It's 1st and goal from the 1 and we can't punch it in the endzone. Finally, a load option scores, however it's after the 2-minute timeout. We again get the 2-point play on a power I toss and the lead is somehow down to 3. App state HB Church has the most amazing run we have seen in years breaking tackles. Despite running out of bounds we can't stop their ground game and we lose by 3.

A awful showing in the 1st half and it's a surprise we made it close being down 17. We had no answer for their offense and I don't know if we have ever gave up more rushing yards then we got. The good news is no interceptions again for Lyles and HB Zimmons made a few plays

                              Must Win Road Game

Do We Have A New Star Developing ?

A must win game for KSU after the 2nd loss last week that likely ends in dreams of going to the playoffs. The schedule gets easier the end of the year so if you win out can still get to the conference championship game. Lyles is a special talent with more passing than runner. The offense is mixed up with a QB as accurate as anyone in the country.

A huge play gets us started a 70-yard option for leading rusher Childress. The defense which looks terrible last week has done a 360 this week and giving Liberty nothing. They score on a reverse pass a rare play call, thankfully for us a holding call takes it off the board. It's still just 7-0 in the late 2nd until Liberty ties it up. We get the ball back and put in our receiving back Zimmons the converted WR since its just 1 minute till half time. He puts up some big time plays and caps it off with a 1 yard TD catch. Its 14 t0 7 at halftime.

We have them 3rd and long and somehow they beat us deep for a 68 yard TD to tie it up at 14. Lyles has his best pass of the year hitting HB Childress for a TD catch that could have been picked off. It's 3rd and 35 for us at the 12 after back to back bad pitches. We just throw it deep and hope for the best and get bailed out with a PI call. Then we fumble the ball and the rare wining coaching challenge continues the drive. This continues the drive in the 4th and we have it at the 9 with just about 3 minutes. We don't realize QB Lyles is hurting and he fumbles and we lose it. This has been a roller coaster drive and now Liberty can send the game into overtime. In the final seconds our CB breaks up a pass on a big hit and we win 21 to 14.

A ugly game and looking at the stats we should have won by much more. We out gained them close to 200 yards and just lost the turnover battle by 1. We got back to our roots and was able to run the ball for over 300 yards. It seems like when our FB is getting 4 yards a carry it just takes this offense to a new level. Alex Moe wins a national award with 3 sacks and this defense was lights out tonight. The stat line for Childress is impressive with 152 yards and 2 TD. The player we are most excited about is Sophomore HB Ronald Zimmons. The best hands on the team could be a real weapon with the short accuracy of Lyles. He will be the #2 HB for the next game.

                                A Rare Shoutout Game

Can We Stop One of Nation's Best HB's ?

We can't afford a 2nd conference loss and make the title game. A win here you finally get a few home games down the stretch and some easier team's. Old Dominion has a HB that's one of the best in the country. He was on the preseason Heisman list. They run the turbo kind of run heavy offense so very annoying to play against. The type of pace where we can't even call another play between plays.

We start it off right a 11-play drive that's all runs and the backup FB gets the TD. Right away we see the turbo offense, but our all everything LB Sua Mix get's the 3rd down stop. Backup QB Fayad out of the wildcat scores on pretty TD run and we are up 14-0. QB Lyles powers it in on 3rd and goal and its 21 to 7.With less the 1 minute until half time they return the KR for a TD and miss the 2 point play. Its 21 to 13 and this is showing signs of a rare shoutout game for us. They can't stop us on the ground we have 212 yards.

Our CB Westbrook makes a big PBU on 3rd down then our starter HB Childress on 3 carries doesn't get the 1st down. They have us 4th and goal at the 1 and surprise us throwing. Thankfully they miss the 2-point play and we are up 2 in the mid 3rd. Zimmons our receiving HB makes a catch then fumbles and they take over close to the redzone. The defense holds them to a FG inside the 5 and now we are down 1. A ugly play happens next they intercept the option pitch and again take over close to the redzone. Its 3rd and goal at the 1 and they score on a pass and just like that we are down 8. a 3rd turnover in a row for us next, but we get one back. Backup QB Fayad another big run sets up Lyles to power it in. Clare ties the game up on a power I toss on the 2 point play.

That star HB we talked about for them makes a massive 73-yard TD run and we are down 7 with 6 minutes to go. We slowly move the ball down and snap it about 8 yards away as time expires. The power option works and this wild and crazy game is going to overtime. The 1st play of OT for us Fayad scores a TD, but they would match it. They have a WR open on 3rd down in the endzone and the QB who is more of a runner misses him. A potential conference changing miss for the QB as they settle for 3. Clare the true freshman power back gets a 1st down on 2nd and 15. We work the ball down to about the 5 and we call a FB dive. However, we see nobody is lined up in front of the QB and we change to a QB power. This is risky as a fumble and the season is basically over. He powers his way into the endzone for the 3rd time and we have our most exciting win at KSU.
