    Army's 2025 Recruiting Update

Lets talk about the 8 commits we includes 4 of our 5 3* targets.

OT Sam Ojomo - 3* Gem
While a 3* he is ranked 1,200 so not a top tier one, but should come with a dev trait. He has the 87 strength we like and mid 70's for power blocking with 81 impact blocking. With the expected development of last year's OL it might be hard for him to start and likely ends up 2nd string. From day 1 we said our OL will be the best position we have and Sam should be a stud in a few years.

HB Nathan Rachal - 3* Gem
We are thinking our stars he wanted to come to us about the highest rank guy we are allowed to go after. He is a gem so should come with upside and a dev trait. We do know he comes with elite road dog mental ability. A power back at 5'10 and 234 pounds with 82 strength, 79 trucking and 81 break tackle. The 91 speed, 89 acceleration is what you love to see with the power just is held back by 83 agility. This puts some pressure on the 2 power backs we signed last year to play well and improve in camp. His 83 carrying is also nice as a high schooler. He is listed a pure HB so not likely to play FB for us.

    QB Amari Kern - 3*
We signed a QB last year, but Amari the plan is to start for us in year 2 for him. A 6'2 194 pound 3* scrambler has elite road dog mental badge. He is a pure QB so not crazy fast 78 speed and 86 acceleration. His ceiling could come down to the dev trait and the speed potential. What we like about him is the 89arm strength and mid 70's accuracy. We can't wait to get him on campus so we can see his upside. If he is legit then he will have the OL/ HB's to take this offense to peak potential.

    ATH Parker Slater - 3*
We need a future C with ours maybe going pro after this year and we have our guy. The 6'3 308 pound jumbo athlete is a fun one with 89 strength and a little bit of speed. In a perfect world Brady Small comes back and he get the training boost heading into his sophomore year and start

    ATH Rich England - 2*
He officially projects as elusive HB and since we signed one last year we are assuming he can also play DB. A 6'1 CB with 90 speed, 88 change of direction and 87 acceleration is a great base as a 2* corner. He could play year 1 since we need help at CB

    ATH Devante Bradbury - 2*
A 5'9 225 pound power back so projects at HB which he will not play for us. We don't know if we will play him at FB, MLB or OLB just yet. His 90 speed, 89 acceleration are great just brought down by 79 agility. He has the strength, and trucking so would be awesome FB/ B back in our offense. However, we need speed at MLB and he could get on the field sooner.

    CB Noah Kane - 2*
A lot corner which was a major need we need to sign four CB's. He is only 5'10 a little shorter than we prefer so projects as a slot CB. He is fast with 88 speed, but other speeds are lower. His man coverage is better than zone which we like. Has two mental badges one of them being silver

    CB Wade Mangum - 2*
We really like Wade and think he can be our #4 CB next year as the 2,070th best player in the country. A 6-foot corner with 91 speed as a 2* is hard to fine especially when you add in 69-man coverage. The agility and acceleration being low 80's is concerning

      Army's Offense Wakes Up

HB Short Emerges as Offense Star

After a rough start to the season which saw just 2 wins in 6 games including some tough loses and a 4 game stretch where 21 points was the high. Army has got back to back wins beating Air Force and UTSA to get to a respectable 4-4.

Army was up 26 to 10 on UTSA going into the 4th and once again came close to blowing it. They barely hang on 29 to 24 behind 454 yards of offense. Napier made it a point to pass the ball more have a embarrassing 1 yard the previous game and this game had 138. Noah Short lead the way 136 yards on just 12 carries with 1 TD. QB Mitchell Bolden had 2 rushing TD's and 0 turnovers. Freshman HB Tony Keye who exploded last game after doing nothing had a solid 62 yards and 1 TD on 12 carries. FB Udoh was held to just 3.3 yards Per carry.

Air Force came into this game with a winning record, but was without its top 2 FB's and the offense really struggled because of that. Army finally wins comfortable 33 to 16 and wins the yardage battle 470 to 238. The passing game was again better Bolden 100 yards with 2 TD's. Short again was amazing 152 yards on 9 carries and a TD. We limited his carries some as he had signs of wear and tear. Keyes for the 3rd time in a row played good 9 for 52. Also another true freshman power back Tevin Hocker averaged 8 yards a carry.

Re: Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense (CFB25)

Freshman LT Godfrey Has Massively Improved Since Week 1

When Napier decided to start two true freshman in the OL this year he knew the struggles would happen and they did going 2-4 in the first six games. Joel Godfrey the 2* gem OT wasn't even the highest rated OT of the true freshman. He got the start because they saw he had upside and potential (dev trait) once he got on campus. He initially graded out only a 61 so 10-13 points lower then backups on the roster.

Well, Billy's decision has paid off and Joel is already up to a 68. While his improvement hasn't came exactly in the area's you would like with more pass protection then run. That's a massive improvement and with a full offseason training with Napier specializing in OL training that grade we think will be around 80. The other true freshman OG Romero has also seen small improvements this year.

He isn't close to reaching his ceiling and you are starting to see why we projected the 2* to be a 1st round pick and 90+ overall before he leaves. With a 3* gem Sam Ojomo coming in in 2 year's this OL is going to be elite in 2 years.

Army' On 4 Game Win Streak

          Short Nation's Best HB ?

Army is officially on a win streak and this is 4 in a row to make them 6-4 on the year.

Army beats UAB 27 to 270 a game where the offense was just ok. The total yards were basically even with no turnovers on either side. Short has a big game 129 yards and 2 TD, but a lot of those came from option plays on good pitches. The power backs were held in check still the true freshman Keyes found the endzone.

Rice came in struggling here and the worst team in the conference. Army does pick up the win 24 to 17 even though it wasn't the prettiest of games. Both HB's Short and Keyes go over 100 rushing yards. Keyes it looks like has finally turned the corner and this makes several big games in a row. The passing game was better despite #1 99 speed Clerk being out for the season. The true freshman Overbaugh played well in his first start.

Army had like 6 players on defense hurt so the bye week is much needed next week. In fact Army got some help and still have a outside chance to make the conference championship game. Army somehow is ranked 23rd now despite having 4 losses.

            Goodbye Win Streak

            Turnover's Sink Army

Army had won 4 in a row in this rebuilding year and ranked 23rd even though they prob shouldn't be. All of a sudden the conference champ game was possible. Turnovers killed the team last year and Junior Mitchell Bolden had did pretty good there. However things went south in that area this year and that lead to the worst loss of the season. Army loses 4 turnovers one while you are close to the redzone on the 1st drive. Then 2 more that got returned for TD's and another that was close to it. The offense was pretty non existent outside of Short going for over 100 yards and a few catches by the true freshman WR. Next up is Navy and the winners will get to 7 wins.

            New Commits

            2* OG George Nienhuis
A 320 pound with 87 strength and 71 run block power. A perfect scheme fit

2* OLB / DE Josh Browning
We think we can move him to DE or at least be a rush DE. A power rusher with 75 strength and 81 acceleration at 6'4 228

            2* MLB Ja'Quan Egnew
This was a major need and comes in with some pretty good speed in the 80's and 76 pursuit. On the light side at just 218 pounds

            3* ATH Wes Mcdaniels
He projects as a TE with good size at 6'4 and 244 pounds. However we are thinking maybe WR, but we will wait and see and see if he can be 80 speed. His acceleration is 78 and agility 85 so could go either way. His 57 run block would be nice at WR with his size

            2* C Johnny Maples
We have some athletes in the class that could play C, but we wanted one true C and found one we like. His 85 strength with 69 power blockings and 65 run block is a good start. We hope Small comes back allowing him to redshirt. That would also allow to play the other potential C's at other positions

            2* ATH John Raines
A 299 pound jumbo athlete with 84 strength, 80 impact blocking and 76 speed hurt by low agility. He could play either C, OG or DT.

            2* TE Glenn Howden
Mohammed Strong is a blocking TE starting for us so we wanted to add one more like him. With a lot of upperclassmen TE's on the roster he is one that can be brought along slowly. He has the size 6'5 and 230 pounds with 64 run block and 79 strength.

            2* ATH Rhett Baker
We have no clue where to play him as the athlete is 6'0 218 pounds and projects as a MLB. A great athlete with 86 speed, 84 agility and 90 acceleration. He even has 74 strength and high 60's tackling so could end up a lot of places on defense.

            2* FS Dom Droege
Safety playing time could be wide open with graduation and a few likely transfers. Another good athlete with 88 speed and 66 man coverage along with 2 mental badges. He could have to start next year if things go bad in the offseason

            2* DE Larry Kopp
The only DE we have so far and the power rusher is 6'5 and 274 pounds. We like his blend of 75 speed, 78 acceleration and 79 strength with 2 mental badges. We project to kick him to rush DT on pass downs.

                  Army vs Navy

                  One For The Ages

Navy is improved this year and both teams come in with 6 wins. We all know what a big rivalry game can do to the end of a disappointing season. It's a odd game as Navy plays the same ball control style of offense as we do so the game goes by fast.

Army goes into half time up 14 to 7 with a pair of short rushing TD's from FB Udoh and the QB on a power run (remember that part). Navy has the only points in the 3rd in a pretty ugly game and then scores again to take the lead. Freshman power back Keyes who has really came on lately goes in for a big TD run to tie it up. Army's defense holds and gets the ball back with just 4 minutes to go. However, on a key play it's wishbone power and miscommunication (game glitch i think) causes a loss of yards and ends the drive. A huge play as it was wide open for a possible TD had got the pitch off. It's going to overtime...

Army wins the coin toss and the defense come through again holding to a FG. The drive starts with a big run up the middle from the FB and it gets to 1st and goal from about the 5 yard line. Napier is going to play it safe here no options or passes. He goes back to the shotgun heavy QB power run. This is the one he scored a TD on early and the kind of play at worst is no yards and comes with little risk. However Navy senior LB Riley Bergerson forces the fumble and Navy recovers.

Army and Billy Napier are speechless and the miscommunication play which would have won the game. Then just the heartbreaker of a fumble by your Junior QB. This one is really going to sting for a long time as Billy Was trying to work on his Architect skills (skill tree)

                  -------------------------------------------

A small consolation here Army does make a bowl game against one of the rebrand teams and we bet they come out ready to play. Army has a pair of TD's from the QB and FB Udoh, however a terrible punt with 8 seconds cost 3 points (14-10). Army's offense wakes up in the 4th with 17 points the freshman Keyes with one. Then while running the clock out the Noah Short who was just named 1st team all American. Ends his career in style with a 80-yard TD run.

A big game for the offense maybe the best of the year with 300 rushing yards and nearly 200 passing. Short goes 175 yards on 17 carries and maybe breaks the record for Napier. The FB Udoh after some bad games was back on track. The player of the game goes to C Brady Small with 18 pancake blocks now lets pray he comes back to school.

Such a fitting end to a gritty game, wow! Sucks to be on the losing end but gotta love a great finish nonetheless. Glad to see you're able to go bowling, congrats!

It was a very shocking loss and an example as to why I’m hooked on this game. Because I know nothing is a given and I have to stay alert at all times to win. If I was going to have a heartbreaking loss to a rivalry this is as good of a year as any. The bowl win was nice as it takes 4 to unlock one of the skill trees.

Napier Turns Down 4 Jobs Will Stay At Army

                          "We have unfinished Business"

Last year Billy Napier got zero coaching offers and this year he got a total of 4. We weren't sure how many big jobs he would get with his option scheme the big boys don't run so for him it's a encouraging sign. Billy has came out and said "I'm staying as OC at Army for the 2026 season. What happens after that I can't say." Army's head coach knew Billy was a short term hire so getting at least 3 years out of him isn't bad.

In the 4 job offer two was for OC Stamford and UL Monroe and then 2 head coaching jobs Indiana and Coastal Carolina. The UL Monroe OC job was a automatic no even they surprisingly finished the season ranked. The rebrand team of Stamford is a intriguing one, but it would have to be the head coach job since they are a 0.5 star team prestige. The Indiana job is interesting since they are in the big 10, but he isn't quite ready for that jump yet. Billy does like the fit of Coastal Carolina it's in the south and the unique field. This would allow him to redshirt players and use the portal and be head coach again.

In the end Billy turned them all down saying "I have unfinished business here at Army and I can't go out with a bitter loss to Navy like that. When I got here they won 6 games the previous year and we have only won 7 the last two. I've got to see a jump up in wins before I think about moving. That well tell me this old school offense will work against the big boys"

Billy ended up saying "I've got super high expectations for next year and that's why I couldn't leave and start all over. This is year 3 and its mostly guys I've hand picked to run my system. I fully expect 10 wins and this be the year you see results from the last 2 years of hard work."

How would you rate last year's season with the same amount of wins as the previous one?
I knew it wasn't going to be a jump up so just having the same amount of wins is good sign. If you look at the win % it was actually higher as we didn't play in the conference title game. If you look at our team (overall team ratings) it was down from the previous season and the worst in our conference. We graduated like 30 guys and just had 4 freshman on the roster. So the 30+ guys we signed as freshman don't get the offseason training boost and just 4 got it with the small class. We were forced to play freshman that mostly weren't recruited by other programs before they were ready.

What makes you think this is the team that will win 10 games?
If things go like I expect when fall training camp gets here, we will be a much better team than the previous season. We also won 5 if our last 7 games and should have won the Navy game. My specialty (coach skill boost) is training OL and HB and that will greatly help our offense. The OL will be much better this year and it will go from a weakness last year to a strength lead by potential 1st round pick Senior Brady Small.

Who are some name's that we didn't hear last year we should know this year?
That's a tough question because we haven't gone through fall camp yet. Since OL names don't show up much in the box score and our QB and B back Udoh return. Senior David Clerk a WR who runs a 4.3 (99 speed) missed several games last year is back. He isn't going to move to HB, but we will give him the ball in a bunch of ways. He averaged 13 yards a carry last year. We would like to see him get 500 yards both rushing and Receiving. It's hard to project who will jump up from the HB group, but Tony Keyes will likely be #1. He rushed for about 600 yards and 8 TD last year as the #2. A WR is 6'3 Matt Overbaugh a athletic guy that can still block and do something after the catch.

Even though you don't coach defense what can we expect from that side of the ball this year?
Well we gotta start making plays even though we did ok on points per game. We were dead last in the country in sacks with just 1 for the whole year. We had just 3 interceptions as well and that caused us to lose some key portal guys. We are a more athletic defense, but we are thin at DB so can't afford injuries. The big thing is we got to sack the QB because just 1 all year is bad.

                            2025 Departures

Here we will talk about the 2025 Players leaving the program and break them up into a few categories. We did get some unexpected good news Noah Short the star WR turned HB snuck into the 7th round. He was projected to go undrafted. We will also cover some of the defenses guys leaving. You will also notice most of the key players we are losing are on defense or didn't start. So you see why we are so excited about what next year brings.

                            Major Loses
                            HB Noah Short (87 ovr)
Noah was moved to HB (real life position) for his senior year and it was the best move Napier has made in 2 years. He had a monster year and it allowed the pressure off the true freshman HB's. Noah was 1st team all American and barely breaks Napier's rushing record with 1,287. This qualifies him as the 5th best HB he has coached and top 25 all time player. He also becomes the rare Army draft pick.

FS Erick Rose (75 ovr, transfer)
Despite not starting last year Eric makes the list as he transfers out along with another FS and ends up North Carolina State. This leaves just 2 returning safeties on the enter team and It's now scramble mode to find Safeties as 4 CB's also graduate. Erick would have been one of the highest rated guys on the defense.

                            Key Loses

                            CB Justin Weaver (81 ovr)
Started last year at CB and had 64 tackles was the highest rated defense player

                            MLB Kalib Fortner (80 ovr)
The leader of the defense the last 2 years with 80+ tackles each year/

                            FS Casey Larkin (80 or)
Starter at safety the last few years a high IQ type of player

                            FB Hayden Reed (78 ovr)
The type of player every coach loves and we also want on our team. He never started, but was a key backup at all 3 HB spots. We knew we were in good shape at those spots as he could fill in if a injury happens. He had 300 yards and 4 TD's last year before taking less of a role this year.

                            SS Colin Matteson (78 ovr)
A solid starting safety who was unfortunately was hurt some of last year.

QB Dewayne Coleman (68 ovr) / Zach Mindell (64 ovr)
Both players didn't play much with though Coleman was the #2 last year. Both ran about 4.6 (84 speed) and provided depth at a key positions. Army has 1 less QB on scholarship this year.

FS Ryan Grooms (66 ovr, transfer)
He ends up at Virginia in the portal and it hurts as he might could have started next year with a good camp.

                            Others
OG Tanner Bivins (79 ovr) - Started last year, but wasn't a scheme fit

CB Jayden Mayes (79 ovr) - Nickle CB last year, but Army gets bigger and faster at CB

                            CB Donavon Platt (77 ovr)

DE Jack Latore (77 ovr) - high rating, but defense produced 1 sack all year

                            CB Jabil Williams (76 ovr)

                            OG Ned Brandy (75 ovr)

                            K Anderson Britton (73 ovr)

OT Royce Poindexter (71 ovr) - Started last year at RT

                            OLB Andon Thomas (71 ovr)

                            OLB Eric Ford (71 ovr)

                            DT Jacob Tuioti (70 ovr)

                            OT Isaiah Jackson (69 ovr)

WR Liam Fortner (76 ovr) - A high rating and solid starter the last 2 years. But was mostly a blocker
