Re: Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense (CFB25)

    Recruiting Strategy Summary

Even though we are officially a 2.5* school prestige our road ahead is as tough as anyone in the country. With some of the restrictions we have plus a huge senior class with 29 players and just 4 freshmen. We will now take a quick look at where we value positions and which ones we will go after first. With the limited recruiting hours, we have this will give you a ideal on where our attention will go

We aren't going to try and solve all of them year 1 so the LB/DB is going to be the positions that has to take a backseat. Even though we aren't coaching defense we will not ignore that side of the ball and DL will be a major focus in recruiting. We do expect the FB position to see a bit of a resurgence when the 13 new teams join the fold. Still a lot of teams don't use that position in modern offense so we anticipate it will be the easiest position to find on the team. Plus, we will have a good play style rating for the RB spots.

We decided to divide the C spot up from OG/OT as you don't want to have to rely on position changes for that position. Since our best young player is our C and his backup returns in 2025. We prob wont focus on that spot week 1 and temporary move it down the list. Again, a reminder as of now we will only have 4 OL on scholarship for 2025. Since we can't use the portal we have to sign at least 10 OL and several of them will have to play

    Priorities
    1. OT / OG
    2. HB
    3. C
    4. FB
    5. QB
    6. TE
    7. WR
    -----------
    1. DE (rush DE / OLB that can play rush DE)
    2. DT (DT and DE that play rush DT)

    Coaching Skill Tree Strategy

As you see above our recruiting focus will be on OL and RB so it only makes sense to make that where our attention in coaching goes the first year. Even though our QB room isn't pretty we are willing to sacrifice that the first few years to build and develop our RB and OL. We know the first year we will get more attention then as time goes on so we have thought about this alot.

    1. Blocking Tier 1 - Pass Block Boost - Taction

    2. Blocking Tier 2 - Run Block Boost - Taction

    3. Blocking Tier 3 - Finesse Block Boost - Taction

    4. Blocking Tier 4 - Power Block Boost - Taction

    5. Running game Tier 1 - Blocking Boost - Taction

    6. Running game Tier 2 - Trucking & BTK Boost - Taction

    7. Receiving Tier 1 - Blocking Power & Finesse - Taction

    8. Unlock Motivator Skill Tree

    9. Put In Work - Motivator Tier 3 - Boost to Off Season OL Training (tier 1 is useless early on)

    10. Put In Work - Motivator Tier 3 - Boost to Off Season HB Training (tier 1 is useless early on)

Honorable Mention = We are keeping our eye on the Taction Cross Training for OL/DL. If we were to sign several ATH that can play both sides of the ball that's one we could get even if its not on this list. We do think it really only works for the players that are athletes or highly rated upper classman. It may not be as useful as some of the others, but it would be fun.

Re: Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense (CFB25)

Quick update here and I'm not likely to have any updates this week, but I'm beyond ready to get this started. I'm quietly working to create from scratch 13 teams which I'll also use on my offline dynasty. I think I've got like 9 of 13 made and loaded into the game. Then I was out of town last weekend and this upcoming one.

I think I'll hold off on the full reveal of my created teams. As I'm not sure what teams they will be replacing and the rosters being used and all of that stuff. I'm still torn on if I should do a quick overview of them or what as a good chance I end up at one of them when I move on from Army.

Anyway, here is a tease of 2 of them and as I said these are more for fun and my personal interest then being super realsitic.

        Hope 2019 Schedule
        DATEOPPONENTRESULT
        Aug 23vs Bye Week
        Aug 30vs FCS East (75 vs 68)
        Sep 7at Florida Atlantic (75 vs 81)
        Sep 14vs Bye Week
        Sep 21vs Rice (75 vs 80)
        Sep 26at Temple (75 vs 80)
        Oct 5at Tulsa (75 vs 76)
        Oct 12vs UAB (75 vs 80)
        Oct 19vs East Carolina (75 vs 80)
        Oct 26vs Bye Week
        Nov 2vs Air Force (75 vs 73)
        Nov 9at North Texas (75 vs 79)
        Nov 16vs Bye
        Nov 23at Notre Dame (75 vs 89)
        Nov 30vs UTSA (75 vs 82)
        Dec 7vs Navy (75 vs 76)

As we finally get closer to the start of the season we want to take a look at the 2024 Army schedule. A reminder Army is coming off a 6 win season so the goal is to make it back to a bowl game this year. The numbers you see beside the game is the Army offense rating vs that team's defense

We don't have a game in week 0 so that much needed recruiting week to start off. We have a good draw vs a FCS team to start off so this should be a win week 1. This allows the players a game to get comfortable with the new offense outside of scrimmage games. Then we have a tough game @ Florida Atlantic where they have one of the better defense we will play. We aren't crazy about another bye week so early in the season.

Then we have likely a big recruiting week vs Rice for those guys we go after from the start of the season. Then we go on the road vs Temple and both of these games we have less talent. We start October off vs Tulsa on the road and one game where we should win. Then two home games at home vs East Carolina and UAB again with a pretty good talent disadvantage for our side of the ball.

The next week is a good spot for a bye week after 5 straight games. Its two games we have to win to get 6+ wins with rival Air Force and North Texas (likely a rebrand team).

We close the year out with 3 interesting games Notre Dame on the road we are excited to see how if we can even compete in this one. UTSA should be a big recruiting week as well for the players we go discover in the middle of the year. They are surprisingly the 2nd best defense we will play this year. This should be a win and then we end of course with Navy.

        ---------------------

Editors Note - A chance 1 or two of these teams could be re branded with my teambuilder teams. I'm keeping the rosters the same except for like 2 of my 13 teams.

          REBRAND TEAMS

In a world of college football that's ever changing we got word that they are 13 teams that will be rebranded /relocated. The conference USA just got a lot more exciting and the MAC and sunbelt will also see some changes. We will now focus on the East side of things which is the more modern style of offenses compared to the south. Instead of a big long article with a lot of pictures we will keep it shorter and add in personal touches. When we officially are ready to go we will come back with how the new look teams are effected look.

          Minnestoa State Screaming Eagles
The clear best team in the division on the field lead by sophomore transfer QB Bo Whitley. Head coach Hayden Fox and everyone's favorite Defense Coordinator Luther Van Dame lead the coaching staff. Many are saying they could be a candidate to move out of the conference in a few years. A team that has a national title to its name and NFL experience

This was one of my favorite shows growing up and I rewatched all 200 episodes to make this team. I made roster notes along the way and laughed all the way through the shows again (replacing Miami OH and original roster)

          Port Canaveral Sailers
One of the most popular cities in the world for cruising is back with the NIL $ from America's cruise line Carnival Cruise. They will compete with their rival CocoCay and be a smooth transition with a modern offense and flashy field.

I'm a cruise addict so I had to make the biggest two cruise companies to compete against each other. This is a team I struggled finding a nickname for (rebrand of FIU)

          Coco Cay Cruisers
The cruise world is a very competitive business so once Carnival jumped in the Royal Caribbean was going to do the same. The stadium built on the new best cruise port in the world "perfect day at CocoCay" so officially a non-US team. Another team with a wild and flashy field and uniforms (rebrand of Luisanna Tech).

          Yellowstone Ranchers
They aren't a lot of powerhouse teams west of Texas that aren't in power conferences. A team oozing with potential that's built on the former Dutton's land beside that dang Airport. Officially the first team in Montana with a power black and yellow color scheme.

I love this show, and I thought the vibe of the show fit with the old timey southern type shows I've got on the other side (rebrand of New Mexico State)

          Stamford Raslers
With Vince Mcmahan out of the rassling (wrestling) business with all his money he gets into football again this time college football. Maybe the most fun new team with 5 unique uniforms from the old school 89/90's era. The NE isn't known for producing college football talent like the south and they are the only new team from that part of the country.

I'm a massive old school WWF fan so I had a blast making this one. I just had to tweak the name to make it legal (rebrand of Buffalo)

          Ramhurst Ramblers
Not a ton to say about this one officially in Georgia, but will focus on recruiting the Texas area. The option offense the team wanted to install didn't go as planned. This is based off the town I'm from and the backyard football games we ran as a kid (rebrand of UTEP).

          Alaska Glaciers
The one new team that isn't in the conference USA as the Alaska Glaciers join the Mountain West. A awesome looking color scheme with whites, grey and light blues and white field and the perfect backdrop of a stadium.

This is a obvious team to make a state without a team and has ties to cruising. Its hurt bow how the replacing of teams go (rebrand of Utah State)

Editors Note - I'm leaving for a weekend trip for the 3rd weekend in a row tomorrow. So finally I've got everything done and can have real update Monday or Tuesday on recruiting and get this started.

Re: Retro Redemption - Starting over with a oldschool PowerBone Offense (CFB25)

The day has finally come and the season is underway and we will have a big recruiting update for you later today. We decided to break it up into two with a bit of a overview here. Army has 27 seniors on this team and several more are expected to enter the portal this offseason and maybe 2 key starters. A lot of the roster doesn't fit what Napier is looking for so the work is cut out for him.

We also want to remind everyone of the limitations and restrictions Napier is working with so we will put those in the spoilers.

            Spoiler

            -------------------------------------------------
As always, we start with a old fashioned pen and paper and divide the positions up into 3 categories. With the limited hours we are working with and the amount of needs we have this is going to be crucial. While our LB core is very weak we have bodies at the position so we had to put it as low need.

            Major Needs
            HB
            OT/OG
            DE
            DT

            Mild Needs
            QB
            FB
            TE
            C
            SS
            CB

            Low Needs
            WR
            OLB
            MLB
            FS
            K
            P

              Must Have Recruits

Every year in week 0 we will label and go in-depth of the must have recruits. The # will vary and this year we have 5.

              ATHL / HB Tony Keyes
The one 3* on our board (other then FB's) and thankfully he checked out scouting. He is a power back at 234 pounds with 79 strength, 75 break tackle and 83 truck. Mid 80's for speed highlighted by 88 acceleration with 2 abilities. He would likely start as a true freshman if we get him. Since we were in his top 5 and have stuff to offer, we like our odds.

              OT Joel Godfrey
The one gem we uncovered makes the 2* be about a 3*. Since we need to sign 10 OL this is a big one and he would start next year. We love the size at 6'6 and 324 pounds with 85 strength. While the rest of the grades don't blow you away he has upside. We got to cross our fingers the big guys don't jump in on him as we really need him.

              HB Tevin Hocker
We need to sign at least 3 HB's and Hocker is the 1B to the higher ranked 3* Keyes. A power back at 5'8 224 with 80 truck and strength. His 89 speed sets him apart and is even faster then Keyes straight line. The 86 acceleration is fine with 78 agility hurting him. Another guy that likely starts if we get him.

              ATHL DT/C Connor Ramsour
The jumbo athlete is most intriguing player on the list at 6'4 293 pounds. His 88 strength is hard to find in a 2* especially one that can move with 78 speed. He projects officially has a C, but we think DT could be the way to go for him. Even though our C is our best offensive player he could leave after next year. Securing his replacement now would take some pressure off next year. Despite being a little undersized moving to OG could allow him to see the field next year. However DT is a major need and we could see him being a sack guy with his combo of strength and speed.

              OG Bart Rambo
Other then having a cool name a lot to like here and as we have said OL a major position of need. The 2* has the 85 strength we look for and 80 impact block. He comes with the team player badge so it would give us some versatility if we need to change positions. At the very worst he is a backup OG next year.

              QB
We only have 1 QB on our board improviser Juan Corp. We haven’t scouted him yet and he doesn’t have any offers.

              HB
A major position of need that we need to sign atleast 3. Tony Keyes is the only 3* on our board and thankfully we are looking good for him. Since he values playing time and we are A+ we think we land him. Hocker was a 1B to Keyes and likely would be starting also as true freshman if he signs. Lamm is athlete we are going after so may end up at LB. We have a elusive HB scouted, but wasn’t impressed with him film. John Hajrullah another power back on our board with no offers that hasn’t been scouted

              FB
We need to sign 2 FB’s but its looking like it will be midseason before we start targeting them. Stockton appears to be a lost cause with a bigger offer in place. Doss is a blocker who we need to scout.

              WR / TE
We have no WR targets on our board and that’s not likely to change anytime soon. We do have two athletes that project at TE. One of those Tankersly unfortunately appears to be going elsewhere. We loved his size at 6’4 237. This means the really cool name of Juan Batista needs to be scouted.

              OT /OG
The biggest need we have and we need to sign at least 10 OL total. 5 of the 9 on our board it appears are lost causes so we have decided to not go after them. We do like the 4 we are going after just need to find some more bodies.

              DE
We have 3 on the board and just got locked out of 2/3. The good news is athlete Harris looks like a real player and we lead for him. Another position where we need to sign several more bodies.

              DT
Another major need that we haven’t been able to go after as much as we want. The good news is 2* Ramsour we are back in it for and he is probably the biggest physical freak we have uncovered. Many think he is a C, but we like his 88 strength and 78 speed at 293 pounds at DT. They are 4 more DT on the board that haven’t really been able to scout really any of them. Kent State appears to be getting one of them in Ben Ebron. The super cool name Major Mustard is one to keep a eye on here as he does appear to be solid.

              MLB
The jumbo athlete Witten the lone LB on our board that we have yet to scout

              CB / S
This position will have to wait as we have higher priorities

The higher ups made a chance and instead of FCS its a top 5 Oregon team. The first key play was a bad patch by Dailey which lead to 7 Oregon points to make it 14 point lead. The #1 WR Noah Short catches a drag route and goes 60 yards for a big TD for Army. A pretty low scoring game with just 7 points in the 3rd by Oregon. Army in the 4th down 14 and in the redzone. But the Oregon DL was to much and no points and that will do it.

Overall pretty pleased with only losing by 21 with the weird benefit of this being at home. The Oregon DL was to much to run the ball at yet at the same time it didn't feel impossible. Some positives to take from this like FB/B Back Udoh with over 6 yards per Carry and Noah Short making plays at a few positions

Editor's Notes - The CPU decided I need to play Oregon instead of a FCS team. So a potential huge deal as I expect to be right around 6-7 wins. I didn't go to the custom schedule part which was a mistake on my part. I will also have the video highlights for this and the next week up together next week.

                  Week 2 vs Florida Atlantic

Army starts it off the way you want with a 16-play drive. Unfortunately, a flag made them settle for 3 after a badly time holding call on a TD run. Udoh hits a long 60-yard TD run from the HB spot to make it 10-0. Florida Atlantic gets back-to-back TD's to take a 4-point lead. On a 3rd and 20 our QB makes the best play he will make all year avoiding the sack and picking up the 1st down. That would lead to a TD by the #2 HB.

A strip sack by Florida Atlantic leads to 7 points. The seas parted and FB Udoh scored his 2nd TD of the game out of the Power T and the lead was 4to start the 4th quarter. The defense helps me out with a quick interception. A perfectly timed draw on 3rd and long was the play of the night. Robinson gets the I-formation TD for the 1st win of the year for Army.

A encouraging win in conference play and Napier's powerbone offense much better here then vs the powerhouse Oregon. We said Udoh was going to be our #1 weapon on offense at FB/B Back spot and he was impressive 1236 yards and 2 TD's. Even though we are heavily a run first team we do want to see a little more then 59 yards. However that's a bit misleading as one long screen pass counted as a run.

                    Week 3 vs Rice

                    Overtime Thriller

A big game here as Rice who is the better team and we have 4 of our 5 must have recruits in town for a visit. Rice is also lead by son of Hall of Fame QB Kurt Warner.

They stop by draw on 3rd and 7 and I'm held to a FG and when the mid 2nd quarter got here it was still 3-0. Another 3rd 7 it looked like they were in a soft zone and that was the case and a up the middle run picks up the 1st. It was 4th and goal at the 1 and the old faithful Maryland I picks up a TD for HB Robinson (10-0). When half time came the gameplan was working and I was dominating time of possession.

It was in no man's land so go for it on 4th and medium and get stopped and it's tied to end the 3rd quarter. After I punt my defense bails me out with a interception. With 5 minutes to go and tied I go for it on 4th and inches and just barely get it. A option out of the wishbone leads to a FB TD and Army is up 7. However, Rice quickly answers with a TD and with 2 minutes its tied, but I start the drive at the 40. After a swap of score the game heads to overtime.

Rice gets the ball first and scores a TD however a big break as Rice misses the XP. It wasn't good and a TD here basically wins the game. The wishbone again comes up big on 3rd down and FB Udoh wins it with a TD run.

Army gets lucky here and a huge win for getting to 6 wins after Oregon being on the schedule at the last minute. Time of possession was perfect and the 245 rushing yards was spread out amongst several players. The yards per carry wasn't anything big which allowed to slowly move the chains. We do have a unexpected HB earning some carries in 4th stringer Omari Embree

Editor's note - I'll have the video highlights up with the next game. I'm not sure why the header is flipped on the boxscore

                      First Commits of Napier Era

We did our list of 5 must have guys in the preseason and 4 of them came to visit vs Rice. We got some amazing news as 3 of the 4 committed after the upset win.

Tony Keyes the only 3* we went after a 234 pound HB that should start next year. He has 86 speed and 88 acceleration to pair with his 83 trucking and 79 strength. He had scholarship offers from Navy and Alaska and comes with the workhorse badge.

Joel Godfrey the 2* will start at OT next year standing a huge 6’6 and 324 pounds. Army is banking on his upside as outside of his 85 strength Is pretty raw. The 3rd commit is another OL Bart Rambo so an A+ name. He has the team player badge at 6’2 and 314 so maybe could move to C. His 85 strength and 80 impact blocking means he could easily start next year as a true freshman. A huge start to the recruiting class and another fallout of this is that it opens up minutes to start on other since we need to sign 25+ guys.

                      QB
We have now scouted Juan Corp and offered him a scholarship. His 84-arm strength and 71 break sack goes with 76 speed and 82 agility. Despite looking more like a project QB he may need to be the backup QB next year. How much he plays could come down to his upside which we will not know until on campus.

                      HB
We got the big commit of Keyes and still lead for the other HB on our must have list power back Hocker. We have a big lead, but Tulane still wants him. Another power back Hajrullah still hasn't been scouted. We did start keeping tabs on a elusive back Nyles Wylie.

                      FB
We haven't scouted the FB's yet and have big news coming for the position in a few days

                      WR/TE
The other guy on our board committed elsewhere and we still need to scout Juan Bautista who has no offers. The physical WR's from pipeline stats and TE Athlete's we aren't finding many of

                      OT
Huge news and if you watched the initial recruiting video they were 3 OL we offered scholarships and then gave up on after week 1. Well we are back in the race for all 3 and 2 of them are OT's. Bobby Biggers we now lead and he is in his top 8 with 2 other offers. 2* Baugher would be a big get and we also lead for him. However, VT has offered him and if they turn the attention up we likely lose him. Another OT we should get a commit from at anytime is D.J Zimmer. The 81 strength is a litle low, but we need bodies at OL bad. Carl Vaughn another OT we like our chances with as he comes to visit week 7. At 6'6 321 we are battling with UNLV.

                      OG/ C
Swope is the 3rd guy we offered preseason that we jumped back in the lead for unexpectedly. He would be a huge get as well with 85 strength and82 impact block. Stanford is in the race as well so it's not over yet as he in the top 8 stage. Romero another solid looking 2* OG we should get a commit from. We can't seem to find any C's we like so might need to hope we find a none power type with strength

                      DE
Josh Harris is the athlete we have been at pretty hard since preseason. He should commit soon and at worst be a key backup next year. We have recently started keeping tabs for 3 more and this is a big position of need for us.

                      DT
Jumbo athlete Ramsour was a must sign for us and it looks like we will get him. Since he could play C and DT has zero depth, we have work to do still. Major Mustard is a guy we have offered and lead for, but he is just in top 10 stage. A new name to remember that is Leonard Gumbs a 300 pound run stopper with 88 strength. Tye Devitt is a guy we have scouted and will go after in a few weeks.

                      OLB
HB/OLB Lamm is a guy we still lead for and what position he plays will hinge on who else we sign. We have added 4 more OLB to our board for when minutes open up. A few of those would be candidates to move to DE.

                      MLB
The Jumbo athlete Witten we finally got to scout and we really like him. He has mid 80's speed so a guy we need to offer and figure out where he plays later.

                      CB/S
Still no players on our board here as we have bigger needs

2 Massive Editions To FB Room

Army got some massive news this week with the addition of two players who were on the roster last year who are now eligible to play in games starting this week. Those players are FB / B Back Hayden Reed (79 ovr) and blocking FB Jake Rendina (73 ovr). As you saw with a UNC WR last year the NCAA wasted times and declaring these players eligible after offseason investigations .

This is a massive addition to the roster both this year and the years ahead. Hayden is a Junior and Rendina a sophomore and of course starting B back Kayne Udoh is a sophomore. This means Army is set at the FB position for 3 years which is likely all that Billy Napier will be at Army. It also takes the pressure of having a true freshman #2 FB since that’s a position we haven’t had time to scout this year yet.

Hayden is a 215 pound athletic FB so 84 speed and 86 acceleration with 80’s in a lot of other ball carrying ability. His 79 strength, 76 break tackle and 82 truck gives him some power. He does have some solid blocking skills to go along with that. This means he is much needed depth at the B back spot as before it was nothing behind Udoh. He will also back up the power HB spot, FB and even HB. As you can see a jack of all trades at a few positions and his overall grade is like 5th on the team

While Hayden is very useful, we are more excited to play with Jake Rendina the 255-pound strongman (82 strength). He sports the old school neck roll and is a blocker so will mostly just see the ball on like 3rd and 1. He has just 75 speed and 71 agility so as we said he is a blocker. He gives us some options maybe he officially starts at FB allowing Udoh to rest on some formations. The good news he is just a sophomore so he can lock up the blocking old school style of FB spot for the next 3 years. His 82 strength is tied for 6th in the game with most ahead of him seniors. Jake is a power lifter holding national records for that coming out of high school.

editor's note - These 2 real life players were added in the roster update after I started. So thankfully I was able to edit stuff to get them in. I'm missing the badges and for some reason Reed's overall isn't the 79 it is in base roster. But its close enough for government work.

                          Week 4 vs Temple

                          2nd Half Mistakes

The defense makes it a short field and QB Dailey scores a TD for the 1st points of the game. Then just a terrible decision (by me) leads to a TD for the bad guys and Army is up 1. Dailey makes up for that with a TD in the load option. Its 4th and 2 late in the 2nd quarter with Army up 7. Arny decides to go for it inside the 10 and the Maryland I comes through. A few plays later Dailey scores again on a TD run.

At half Army is firing on all cylinders up 14 with 161 rushing yards lead by HB Robinson’s 56. Then another bad pitch leads to a TD and the lead cut to 7. 3rd and 1 and the blocking FB gets stopped. 4th and inches on the wrong side of the 50 we try a QB sneak from the Maryland I. However it was the wrong call as the CPU had the DL pinched and it was a loss of yards. Temple scores a TD after that to tie the game.

After being stopped on 3rd and 2 this time Army just takes the 3 since its in the 4th quarter. A big 4th and 4 conversion on a option for the 1st down. Then flags got this to 2nd and 19 and then a 4 yard loss on a run. Then 18 yards on a option set up a 4th and short. FB/ B Back Udoh comes through and extends the drive up 3 with 6 minutes to go. Udoh, then scores out of the flexbone with 3 minutes for a 2 score game. The defense ices it with a interception

We are going to skip the play by play here because Army came into this one maybe a little too cocky. With a 3-1 record going up against a 1-4 team Army overlooked Tulsa and it cost them with a 2nd loss of the year. We was reminded that Tulsa had one of the better defense we will face all year. The stats were ugly so this is one to just take the game film and throw away.

Army has two very winnable games coming up next the 1-win UAB and 0-5 Eat Carolina.

                              Week 6 vs UAB

                              Must Win

Since we are the OC we only focus on that side of the ball. However, DT is our thinnest position prob on the team and we have two guys hurt so its DE starting at DT for a few weeks. This is a must win game after dropping one Army shouldn't have.

We get the scoring started with a 39-yard TD run off the option. Then another bad decision (by me) lead to a interception and took points off the board. We were in scoring position again and then a 8 yard loss and good PBU lead to no points. UAB scores with 1 minute to go in the 2nd to tie it at 7 at halftime.

A big kick return (maybe a flag) for Army starts the 2nd half off. FB Udoh gets a impressive TD breaking tackles for the 7-point lead. In a tie game we are in no man's land so go for it on 4th and 6 and get stopped.

It's 3rd and goal at the 6 with 3 minutes and we pick up half of what we need. We break our rule and go for it and it bites is as the QB run is stopped. Thankfully the defense comes through with a interception shortly after. So 54 seconds to go and we are at the UAB 40. Our #1 WR Noah Short breaks open from the wildcat and and goes all the way for the TD with just 38 seconds to go.

It wasn't pretty, but it counts a ugly 21-14 win. Army needs to get a little more going with the pass game as a 320 to 44 split. The HB Tyrell Robinson improves his quest to get 1,000 yards in his senior season with 100+ yards. Udoh was a slowed some by wear and tear in this game. UAB did a good job holding our FB/QB in check, it was or HB's that got most of the yards.

Devastating Injury In Air Force Loss

Before we get to the big news and the rivalry game vs Air Force it was the winless East Carolina at home. It was a much closer game then the 26-14 score says as WR Noah Short broke a long TD while trying to run out the clock. Army played well 0 turnovers on offense and 265 rushing yards just couldn't ever really pull away. It was a balanced effort on the ground with 4 guys between 50 and 62 rushing yards. A big game for Noah Short 4 catches for 49 yards, 3 carries for 50 yards and 1 TD and 72 return yards. Army is taking advantage of a weak conference slate and improves to 5-2.

Senior QB Bryson Dailey doesn't have big stats, but has played the PG role of this offense pretty well. However today vs Air Force it wasn't his day as he threw 2 interceptions and lost 2 of his 3 fumbles. Air Force FB Dylan Carson was the man with 116 yards as Air Force ran for over 200 yards. With Army so weak at DT and being out two players at the position it was to be expected the FB had a big game. This lead to Army falling 41 to 22 with the most points they have given up all year. The turnovers really hurt as Army had 268 rushing yards lead by HB Tyrell Robinson's 110 on 9 yards a carry and then WR Noah Short's 48 yard TD run. The good thing is the Air Force isn't a conference game so Army still will win the conference if they win the rest of them. With Notre Dame still on the schedule a loss vs them should make 8 or 9 wins in regular season a good chance.

The loss of the game doesn't matter though as Army got devastating injury news. WR /KR /wildcat QB / ball carrying Noah Short got hurt on a kick return has a compound foot fracture and will miss the rest of the year. Noah is a true playmaker a speedster with 94 speed with room to grow.

It's taken Napier time to figure out how to use him and he was just starting to figure it out. He was in the process of figuring out if they was a way to put him in the flexbone at HB (he played there in real life this week). Noah has 223 rushing yards and 4 TD and leads the team with 21 catches and nearly 300 yards. He also has 500 return yards.

Noah has a dealbreaker of Brand Exposure and many experts project him to transfer at the end of the season. So we aren't sure how this will effect that as Army should have some TV games coming up to help with that. Senior Casey Reynolds (72 ovr) moves up from #2 WR to #1 and Liam Fortner (68 ovr) and David Clerk (60 ovr) will battle it out for the #2 spot. Since Fortner is the better blocker he likely gets the call. However Clerk has speed so can do more of things Noah did.
