2032 RECRUITING - INITAL PLAYER BOARD

As we said in the previous article we are finally use 3* as our base with a few 4* sprinkled in. When you add in 21 seniors, better grades and going from 2 to 2.5 school prestige. This makes for a important recruiting class

    Major Needs
    QB
    HB
    WR
    OLB

    Mild Needs
    TE
    OT
    C
    DE
    CB
    S

    Low Needs
    FB
    OG
    DT
    MLB

    Must Have Recruits

    WR / HB Norgan Godchaux
He is a deep threat WR and would be the fastest player we have ever signed with 95 speed and 96 acceleration. We have had good luck with Ron Zimmons a converted WR using his hands and Morgan has 79 catching already. We were in on him early, but South Carolina joined the mix last week. With our HB track record and progression and him being a gem player he could start day 1 with seniors moving on.

    WR Nathan Atwell
Might be the best WR we have seen with who we have scouted as we look for physical WR's. He is 6'4 194 pounds 67 strength, 86 spec catch and 89 jumping just needs to improve his hands. His 95 speed is what sets him apart, but his acceleration is low at 82. We are the only offer so we like our odds as he is already in his top 5

    OG Thad Westbrook
One of the three 4* on the board and we need OL depth. We love his 93 strength and 3 mental badges including team player. He has 77 run block already and would be a multi-year starter for us. We were worried early, but Clemson appears to have backed off him

    High Priority

    QB Barry Cano
Despite QB being a major need and him being one of the three 4* we went after he isn't a must have guy. That's because our starter is a freshman. Barry is 6'2 222 with 82 speed, 91 acceleration and the option king badge. He has a arm as well 92 arm strength and 79-83 accuracy. He is the only QB on our board. We are competing with Cincy and USF

    ATH / HB Ramon Jewel
He is only 5'9 so that mean he likely ends up at HB for us with 91 speed and acceleration and 78 break tackle. He has the team player badge so maybe he could play safety. We like some of the other HB's better than him. He is a 3* gem and we are the only offer

    ATH / HB Denzel Ansah
Another 3* gem athlete that could play DB or HB. He is taller than Ramon at 5'11, while he is faster his acceleration isn't as good. His badges aren't as good. If we were to sign all 3 of the above HB's then one would play DB.

    DE Enrique Andries
The last 4* we went after and its not really a position we needed one at, but the others were bust. He is our type of DL 6'2 278 pounds with 3 mental badges and labeled a speed rusher. We aren't use to seeing DL with 87 acceleration, 80 speed with finesse moves and strength

    Others
    WR Brian Mccray
    A 3* 6'4 WR with 69 strength, 88 speed and 88 jumping

    OG Trevor Harms
We have already got a commit the rare instant one for us and its a good one. A 3* gem with the team player badge and 89 strength. At 6'2 310 he could be moved to a number of positions

    CB Sam Jennings
This isn't a position we need, but we uncovered this 3* gem early and want to go ahead and get him. He is just 5'10 so a little short for us but with 92 speed if he gets the good dev trait we will have a keeper

    Jamie Velasquez
We are his only offer so we should get him 91 speed as a zone coverage player

      Sweep Nonconference Games

      KSU Ranked Top 10

      #25 UCF
We were down 7 headed into the 4th and the end up tying with about 2 minutes. The freshman QB leads the drive mostly on the ground and our Kicker hits the game winning FG at the buzzer. We racked up 401 yards of offense giving up 353 with 332 of those on the ground. A great game by the young QB and you see his speed paying off with 105 yards on the ground. His career starts off in style with a 70 yard run for his 1st career carry. The defense also had 4 sacks. A huge play in the game was a PR by Zach Mond.

      Top 5 Game Balls
      QB Cory Flood = 7/10, 69 pass yards, 1 TD & 13 Carries for 105 yards, 1 TD
HB Demarcus Clare = 23 carries for 100 yards, 1 TD
      K Tyler Thomas = XP 3/3, FG 2/2
      LB Kris Schwab = 11 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU
CB Tevin Johnson = 11 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack

      #17 Minnesota State Screaming Eagles
Holy cow what a game maybe the best one we have ever played. A early failed 4th and 1 cost us 7 points. We had the ball just needing a FG to take the lead late and assumed we could get it on 4th and inches. We wanted to pick up the 1st and waste some more clock and it backfired. However they get the ball with 2 minutes and 6 seconds and get aggressive and the clock stops on incompletes. We get the ball back with 1 minute to go and get the ball inside the redzone. We have to rush to get the FG unit on and hike it with 1 second on the clock. We don't know how this was that close as we outgained them 499 to 214 and just lost the turnover battle by 1. The passing yards a bit misleading as 71 came on a jet sweep pass.

      Top 5 Game Balls
      QB Cory Flood = 9/13, 130 passing yards, 1 TD & 20 carries 110 yards, 1 lost fumble
HB Demarcus Clare = 27 carries for 153 yards, 1 TD, 5.7 AVG
HB Ed Childress = 4 catches 103 yards, 1 TD, 15 rush yards
OG Markus Gastineau = 15 pancake blocks
LB Alejandro Salcedo = 11 tackles, 1 TFL

      Alaska Glaciers
We go on the road vs the worst team we will play all year. We are excited to play them as we think their field and uniforms are as sharp as any in the country. We get down early 13 to 0 and it could have been worse. We cut the lead to 4 at half then outscore them 30-0 in the 2nd half for a 43 to 17 win. A dominating win outgain them 446 to 238 with nearly 400 rushing yards. We got the backups some playing time. The bad news our KR and star DT Adrian Hogg both got hurt. Hogg's injury is 6 weeks and is a big blow.

      Top 5 Game Balls
Markus Gastineau = 13 pancake blocks
      Kevin Kalu = 4 tackles, 4 TFL, 2.5 sacks
      Rashawn Singleton = 5 tackles, 1 int, 1 PBU
      Antone Stick = 3 tackles, 1 TFL, 1 sack
      Demario Bakhtiari = 1 int

        Major Struggles Kicking Off ACC

KSU after going 3-0 in non-conference including two wins vs ranked teams went into conference play ranked #9. The schedule gets tough toward the end with a lot of ranked teams and the first two at home vs teams we are better then. However, it was a disaster start as Virgina Tech beat us 32 to 27 then Duke 24 to 19. We had more yards on offense the VT, but we lost the turnover battle by 3 all of those interceptions by the freshman QB. The young QB again was to blame vs Duke with a killer interception in the final drive which would have won the game. After this you can about kiss the playoffs goodbye as you still have ranked games vs Miami, GT, FSU. Then on the road vs a Clemson team struggling, but the most talented in the conference. The good news the next two games would be wins a 10 point win vs North Carolina State again at home. Then a big one a vs Clemson on the road

The off the field story is injuries as the DL already pretty thin with a lot of true freshman redshirting will be without 4 guys this upcoming game. The big loss star DE Kevin Kalu (85 ovr) a senior one of the best on the team will miss the rest of the season with a dislocated ankle. He had 9.5 sacks last year and was at 3 this year. DE Troy Swearinger a 280-pound freshman having a good year with 3 sacks will miss the next 3 weeks. DT Adrian Hogg (87 ovr) will miss 1 more game and be back and his presence is much needed. Vince Lord a senior depth guy is also out 1 more week

It's no surprise to see this as a rebuilding year with the first year playing big time competition of a new conference. When you factor in a freshman QB its to be expected. We still are very high on Cory Flood and despite 4 TD and 5 interceptions he should rush for 1,000 yards and currently leads the team. We would project a 8 or 9 win season and maybe some luck of playing in the ACC title game if we beat #5 Miami

KSU Gets Hot, Sets Up Huge Match

After 2 loses to start off conference play KSU wins 3 more in a row making it 5 straight wins. It set up a must win game for both the playoffs and the ACC South us ranked #9 plats #6 Miami at home.

We beat the Smoky Mountain Black Bears 32 to 23. If it wasn't for the +3 in turnovers then we lose this one. HB Clare gets 100 yards and 2 TD, but the MVP is senior CB Bakhtiari with 2 interceptions.

Florida State similar to Clemson one of the most talented teams in the conference. But come in around .500 and this is on the road for us. This was a defense battle neither getting close to 400 yards of offense. Senior HB Zimmons with one of the best runs of the year. We were extremely conservative with just 5 pass attempts all game. Thats why our TE was wide open for a TD in the redzone.

Another good win next at home vs the Barely ranked Georgia Tech. A 35 to 21 win, but it was a very ugly game. We are up 14-0 with 30 seconds till half and getting the ball to start the 3rd. They get a fumble for a TD and the fans were booing. They had 5 turnovers and we had 2, however we three times didn't get in on 4th and short sitting them up for good field position. The scorekeeper also incorrectly gave a rushing TD to our QB over the FB. A monster game for Clare 176 yards and 3 TD.

          5 Game ball's vs SMU
HB Demarcus Clare = 21 carries for 102 yards, 2 TD, 4.9 Avg
FB Shamir Niswander = 17 carries for 73 yards, 4.3 Avg, 1 TD
HB Ron Zimmons = 11 carries for 68 yards, 4 catches for 59 yards, 1 TD
OG Quinnen Jewell = 13 pancake blocks and 0 sacks allowed
CB Demario Baakhtiari = 4 tackles and 2 Int

          5 Game ball's vs FSU
HB Demarcus Clare = 20 carries for 128 yards, 1 TD, 6.4 Avg
          HB Ron Zimmons = 7 carries for 75 yards, 1 TD, 10.7 Avg & 1 catch for 12 yards
C Tyler Menzie = 10 pancake blocks, 0 sacks allowed
          LB Abdul Brisker = 7 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack, 1 PBU
DE Tracey Sylvan = 5 tackles, 2 TFL, 1 sack

          5 Game ball's vs GT
          HB Demarcus Clare = 17 carries, 176 yards, 3 TD, 10.4
          CB Rashawn Singleton = 13 tackles, 1 TFL, 0.5 sacks, 2 Int, 1 FF
CB Tevin Johnson = 10 tackles, 1 TFL, 2 PBU
          DL Roger Wilkins = 6 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 FF, 1 FR
LB Kris Schawb = 10 tackles, 3 TFL, 0.5 sacks,

Top 10 Showdown for ACC South

After losing the first two ACC games KSU has bounced back to win 5 in a row. The playoffs and ACC are still possible if they win out and a loss gets Miami the division. They weren't much to talk about in the first half as Miami is up 6 to 3 with a game of field positions and punts on 4th and 2. In the 3rd our HB Clare one of the best in the country breaks open a long run thanks to the excellent FB blocking. In the early 4th quarter our FB gets a easy 1 yard TD run the lead 17 to 6. In a key 4th down play Miami's WR can't keep his feet in and turn the ball over. We go on for a big time win 17 to 12 thanks to our defense. Miami ran the ball more then we are use to and it didn't work. The time of possession was oddly the same exact down to the second.

The next game was a easy win the 2 win Wake Forest and it was a 34 to 6 win. A dominating game outgaining them 528 to 242 and again the defense was lights out with 3 interceptions. QB Cory Flood was a perfect 10/10 with 144 yards and add 106 on the ground. Clare was held in check just 67 yards on 18 carries. We got the chance for some 2nd and 3rd stringers to play.

              ACC Championship Game

Clearly a big game we are up to the #5 seed and it would be huge to win the ACC in year 1. We would get a 1st round bye and maybe even some player upgrades from the confidence (skill tree). A loss and we would project to still be in the playoffs, but it would prob be on the road vs a heavyweight.

We are up 7 points with less then 2 minutes till halftime and we decide to throw it. We make a inaccurate pass and it leads to 7 and now its tied at halftime. A call many will question as we had momentum. The 3rd quarter sees us get a TD and them 2 FG's so we are hanging on by 1 point going into the 4th. They hit us deep for a TD and add a 2 point play and later a FG. This means we are down 7 in the final 2 minutes so we can't really run the ball. Our freshman QB misreads the CB on a 1 on 1 out route and we lose.

This was a surprising game we are basically equally teams as far as talent goes. While on paper we averaged 4 yards per game this was the rare game they won the line of scrimmage. They had over 20 TFL I think the most we have ever seen in a game. There DT Salter took away our inside run game and shut down our FB. If you are going to lose a game like this you want it to be fair and square and that's what happened. Our freshman QB's lack of accuracy really hurt.

KSU Faces Penn State In Playoffs

                Top Reasons For Success

KSU comes in big underdogs as this game will be at Penn State. Who is not only has the HFA also the better roster +7 grade. They are loaded with four OL 93+ plus a dual threat QB that had 50 passing TD's. The biggest weaklink is a true freshman RE outside of that its a bunch of 90's starting.

                Defense Top 10
The defense is giving up 19.8 points per game which is top 10 in the country. Some of that is tied to the offense controlling the ball and shorting the game. Still there is talent at all 3 levels and the DL has played well despite some big injuries. The LB are all speedy and DB is a veteran group.

                Leading Country in 1st downs
You could always point to the rushing game here with over 4,000 yards. But the 299 1st downs lead the country by 45. This goes with the strategy of slow grind it out running game

                Top 10 in sacks
Ranking 7th as of now with 42 a impressive feet since that group was hampered by injuries. The best pass rusher on the team misses most of the season and we didn't have a lot of depth. We moved MLB Alejandro Salcedo over to rush DE a few games ago and he ended with 5.5 sacks. No standout player Junior Roger Wilkins leads with 8.5, Sophomore Tracey Sylvan 7.5, LB Kris Schwab 5.5 and everyone else is 3.5 or lower

                --------------------------

                HB Demarcus Clare
A monster year for the former 2* HB and we do expect him back for his senior year. The power back grades out mid 80's for everything as a whole with 89 trucking, 84 strength and 90 speed. His 1,312 rushing yards leads the country and 12 TD's is 2nd. He finished top 5 in HB of the year race and was hurt my his lack of star power (overall grade)

                LB Kris Schwab
We are officially projecting Kris to go down as the best player we have ever coached as he blew up as a sophomore. He had 104 tackles, 14 TFL and 5 sacks. It's not just the stats with him he has 89 speed, 91 acceleration and most importantly 90 zone coverage.

                DE Roger Wilkins
The 6'4 288-pound Wilkins stepped up huge when Kevin Kalu got hurt. He is listed as DE, but plays rush DT as well and lead the team in sacks. He still has a lot of upside, but with a high grade he may go to the NFL. His power is his best skill with 97 strength and speed ratings in the 80's.

                FB Shamir Niswander
Some would say a little but of a disappointing he had 861 yards last year and this year 680. He had 5.2 per last year and this year 4.5. The speedy 91 B back hasn't quite been the massive player we wanted. Still getting 4.5 yards from the flexbone spot with so many unfriendly looks is impressive. He went from 1 TD to 10 and sets the tone of our team on the first few drives. If Clare goes pro he would be the #1 power back and has 2 more years to go.

                OL
We don't have stats to back it up, but this OL has been really good outside of the ACC game. Despite limitations with a freshman QB they have helped the one dimisional offense go. We decided to redshirt the highly touted signees last year and have a great group coming in. So the OL should be even better the next few years. Its still as good as any in the country with 3 seniors and all rated 84-87

LT - Austin Talib (87 ovr) - 99 pass block, 94 pass block footwork
LG - Quinnen Jewell (87 ovr) - 99 run block power, 99 lead block
                C - Tyler Menzie (87 ovr) - 97 run block footwork, 88 run block
RG - Markus Gastineau (84 ovr) - 94 run block power, 92 strength
RT - Jonathan Bearden (84 ovr) - elite development, 94 lead block

                  2031 Playoffs

                  Freshman QB Turnovers Sink KSU

Editor's note - I accidentally went to the offseason before I could get the game recap with stats

Things were going good at half with KSU up 14-10 after hitting two long runs for TD's one on a option and another from the Maryland I. Then the 2nd half the freshman QB made a bad pitch on a fumble and it was recovered for a TD. Just before that KSU had forced a FG when it was 2nd and goal at the 1 so a lot of momentum swings. A key 3rd down and long we went with our #1 pass play, but it was covered up and picked off. The defense had played fantastic against a elite QB, but with it being a 1 score game late in the 4th they burn us for a TD deep to seal the game for Penn State. Any miracle comeback down 2 scores ended with another interception for the freshman QB his 4th turnover in the game. A brutal loss and this makes Napier 0-3 in the playoffs and this should have been a win as you was -3 turnovers on the road. It's clear the freshman QB Flood despite his arm strength and speed needing to be a backup for this year.

                      Final 2031 Graduating Class

                      Major Loss (key starters)

                      OG Quinnen Jewell (85 ovr)
A multi-year starter that had 97 run blocker power with 85 strength and 83 run block mixed with not getting drafted means. He never gave up a sack in his career so that gives him the slight edge as the 5th best OL we have coached.

                      DE Kevin Kalu (85 ovr)
We feel bad for Kevin as he had 9.5 sacks last year and came back for his senior year. Then he gets hurt and just plays in 6 games. He still did manage 17.5 sacks for his career as a 286 pound rush DE that never reached his ceiling outside of his IQ. He was a core grade of 85 in power move, power and quickness. He ranks as the 4th best DL we have coached, but didn't get drafted.

                      C Tyler Menzie (85 ovr)
A multi year starter that moved to C this year and was the best run blocker on the team. He did give up 5 sacks in his career with 4 of those this year.

                      HB Ron Zimmons (84 ovr)
We are going to miss Ron a receiving back with 92 hands and 90 speed. He was officially the #1 HB the last 3 years and got more then 500 rushing yards a total of 1,828 and about 6 per carry. While he had 848 receiving yards he was clutch on 3rd down with former QB John Lyles. He has changed how we view a HB and wont at least one receiving HB in the flexbone.

                      CB Rashawn Singleton (84 ovr)
A 5'11 CB with no real standout skills had a big senior starting with 82 tackles and 6 interceptions. Since it was his only year starting he misses the cut for top 5 DB.

                      CB Demario Bakhtiari (79 ovr)
Our type of CB 6'2 with 92 speed and 94 catching. He was a big-time playmaker for us with 13 career interceptions. He comes in at #4 in best DB since he had all the interceptions

                      Mild Loss (mostly backups)

                      OT Austin Talib (85 ovr)
A 3 year starter, but was more of a pass blocker then run blocker and gave up 7 career sacks. We think we can replace him with more of our type of OL next year,.

                      LB Abdul Brisker (82 ovr)
One of our big gets in the offseason when we were hired with 90 speed and was a 4 year starter. He lost the sub LB job his Junior year then played it most of the time last year. He had 247 career tackles, 33 TFL and 9 sacks.

                      SS Jeremy Runyan (81 ovr)
2 year starter with over 70 tackles each year and 3 total interceptions. He was solid and did shine with 97 zone coverage

                      FB Fred Schulters (79 ovr)
A blocking back that was passed up on the dev chart his senior year. He did see the field on some formations.

                      HB Ed Childress(75 ovr)
He busted onto the scene late in his freshman year with 667 yard and went into the next year the #1 guy. Then he got hurt and was the #3 HB and never got the chance to be the man. He averaged over 6 yards per carry all 4 years and ends with 1,779 rushing yards

Small to No Impact (didn't play)
                      OG Darrell Hajrullah (83 ovr)

                      LB Coco Bouye (80 ovr)

                      OG Nick Alvardo (83 ovr)

                      LB Alfonso Ankrah (77 ovr)

                      LB Devin Mccracken (77 ovr)

                      SS Bud Gideon (78 ovr)

                      DE Vince Lord (75 ovr)

                      TE Franklin Garrison (74 ovr)

                      FS Matt Morris (76)

                      DT Ben Anenih (64 ovr)

                      * ovr listed before coaching bonus

                        2032 Final Recruiting

                        Immediate Impact Players
                        WR Nathan Atwell (69 ovr)
The 3* physical WR was a big get for us a 6'4 WR with 95 speed and will get a little faster. The power run blocking is limited so that's a bummer still he has 67 strength and 59 run blocking which is 2nd on the team. He has some upside as well with impact dev and will start at WR.

                        DE Enrique Andries (75 ovr)
We need depth at DE and at 6'2 278 is a true DE that will be a backup rush DE. A 4* recruit with star development with 80 speed, 87 acceleration and 85 finesse move.

                        LB Ben Bercovci (68 ovr)
He makes this list because he will not be redshirting so will at least see the field on special teams and blowouts. We view him as more of a long-term backup as he has limited upside and normal dev. A case of you can't win them all, but does have 90 speed and 77 tackle so can still be useful for us next year

                        Future Star Players
                        HB Morgan Godchaux (68 ovr)
A 5'9 deep threat has made the move to HB and will redshirt and compete for a key role next year when Clare graduates. A super fast guy with 95 speed, 96 acceleration by far the fastest HB we have ever had. His 62 carry rating is really low so that's one reason he redshirted. His improvement in 82 catch and 71 catch in traffic with a 60 route running will be key. We like him as a flexbone HB similar to how we used Zimmons last year

                        OG Trevor Helms (68 ovr)
A 3* that got on campus and had elite development and we specialize in OL improvement. Just a ridiculous amount of upside in this guy could reach 95 ovr +, but he is very raw. His 89 strength is about all he has now so he may need 2 years before he starts.

                        FS Andre Wusu (64 ovr)
We are thin at Safety this year with no starter rating in the 70's. Still we are going to try and sneak a redshirt year in for Wusu as he is raw with elite development. His 90's speed is maxed out but blank slate for improvement in all other areas.

                        X Factors
                        QB Barry Cano (74 ovr)
One of the three 4* we signed, and we put him as a X factor because he will be in a battle with last year's starter Cory Flood. After Cory's overall didn't improve they are equal, but it makes sense to redshirt Cano to create 2 years of separation. He is slower (-8) then Cory, but is more accurate. With upside in a lot of key area's and Star development the X is how soon he gets on the field

                        John Pyke (75 ovr)
A 3* run stopper LB that has the highest overall of the 5 LB's we signed. Despite being a run stopper already with 86 tackle, 79 pursuit and 80 power rating he 89 speed and 88 acceleration. He has a good amount of upside and impact development so if he puts it all together could be a great all-around LB

                        OG Thad Westbrook (78 ovr)
Despite redshirting this year he goes on the list as we do want to get him in 3 or 4 games this year. A 4* signee has the highest overall in the class with a crazy 93 strength. The X factor part is, We are starting 2 freshman and 1 sophomore in the interior so playing time is really going to be tough going forward. He has normal development as some other backups this year have star.

                          5 New Names To Know

We will take a look at 5 guys who are going to be taking on a bigger role this year.

                          DE Dillon Butts
A redshirt freshman DE is the biggest physical freak on the team the rare former 2* with star development. A 6'2 and 241 pounds he will be a rush DE specialist. What makes him a freak is his 99-strength mixed with low 80's speed ratings. With room to grow in 5 area's he will only get better. We wouldn't be surprised if he breaks Napier's career sack record which is 28.5

                          OG Larry Cologne
We knew from as soon as we scouted the 3* he was going to be a big time get after redshirting he will start as a freshman. He is 6'5 298 pounds so a tab small, but 93 strength. His run blocking (78) isn't as good as we want it to be, but that should improve some during the year. He has major upside in footwork and quickness

                          OG Caleb Yazzie
Another redshirt freshman OG starting that was a 3* gem. His strength is elite at 96 and comes in at 6'6 324 pounds. His run blocking is also lower than we like at 77 so we are hoping the strength gets us by until he improves during the year. He has star development with a lot of upside

                          HB Kenya Phenix
Of the four true HB's on the roster he has the lowest grade and will start as a junior still is in the #1 spot. He isn't a upside player about maxed out still he won the job as Clare is our power HB. His 88 acceleration and 91 agility as a power back we like. He will be #4 on the totem pole so i would project about 500 yards and 3 TD. His lack of receiving skills scares us.

                          CB Shawn Cantu
The former 2* athlete we put at CB over WR as we love his 6'4 size for the position. His hands at 79 aren't as good as you would think for a former WR recruit. A 6'4 with 89 speed, 88 zone coverage and 85-man coverage will play in the nickel. If he does well it could be a test for a future 4* recruit as a tall CB.

                            Best Players

                            HB Demarcus Clare
He lead the nation in rushing the last two years and because the system hasn't got the love with awards and that needs to change this year. The 229-pound senior power back had 1,446 yards and 14 TD last year. He has 94 trucking, 84 strength, 90 speed and 87 acceleration so a good combo of power and speed. We would like to see 1,700 yards and 20 TD.

                            LT Jonathan Bearden
The former transfer portal addition and first ever elite development guy we have coached and will be a 3.5-year starter if he comes back next year. Despite the high overall grade still has a lot more potential he may never reach. He isn't a perfect fit with a better pass blocker (95) then run (85). He also has acceleration and strength and we would project him to go pro after this year

                            FB Shamir Niswander
He has had over 700 yards in each of the first 2 years mostly as the flexbone FB. His yards per carry 4.5 last year is never going to be great. But he does the dirty work and keeps the defense honest and having to load the box. He has always had the physical traits with 91 speed, 88 acceleration,98 carry, 91 trucking. This year he is a better at the secondary skills of a FB. He also doubles as the #2 power back.

                            C/ OG Markus Gastineau
He started last year as a freshman and this year moves to C and close to being maxed out with abilities. He has 96 run block power, 92 strength and 85 run block and will help mentor two freshman OG starting.

                            X Factors

                            Cory Flood
He rushed for nearly 1,000 yards last year and got even faster this offseason. However, he didn't improve his accuracy and that was a major issue last year and why he had 6 TD's and 11 Interceptions. The physical gifts are off the charts with 90 speed, 89 acceleration, 94 change of direction and 94 throw power. but can he throw the ball at least some?

                            3 Biggest Questions

                            1. Can Cory Flood turn the ball over less?

                            2. How will the two freshman OG hold up? They are loaded with potential just raw

                            3. Will Demarcus Clare be a Heisman candidate?

                              Best Players

                              LB Kris Schwab
Just a monster year last year 113 tackles, 15 TFL and 5 sacks and we project him to go pro after this year. A perfect modern day LB 89 speed, 91 acceleration, 90 zone coverage, 89 tackle, 87 pursuit at 231 pounds. He plays sub LB with his coverage ability. If you want to get picky he didn't improve from last year other that he is a stud and should be a All-American this year

                              MLB / DE Alejandro Salcedo
He officially got jumped in overall grade at the MLB spot so that makes where he will play up in the air. He started out as a sub-LB and then moved to rush DE and has the ability to do both. He is 6'2 240 pounds with 92 speed, 88 acceleration, 86 strength, 83 power move, 87 finesse move, 85 zone coverage and so on. With the move to rush DE he got 7.5 sacks and 79 tackles. Another productive year like this and we think he also goes pro.

                              DL Roger Wilkins
The 6'2 288-pound plays DE and rush DT and had 9 sacks after 6.5 the previous year. He is a power rusher with 97 strength mixed with 87 acceleration and 82 speed. When you add in 80+ for moves you have a great DL. He is exactly the type of player I want as a rush DT with 97 strength with some speed.

                              DT Adrian Hagg
A 6'4 320 pound 3 year starter for us after coming over from NC State. While he does play rush DT he isn't a huge sack guy with 9.5 in 3 years. He got hurt last year so that's why you saw the TFL and sacks cut in half. He has 97 strength, 87 power move, 96 tackling, 87 block shed with speeds 70+. We do think he will be drafted as well and despite a lot of potential he probably doesn't level up anymore.

                              X Factor

                              Secondary
We lost 3/5 of our Starting DB's from last year and this is the weakest our Safeties have been in a long time. Senior Tevin Johnson is the only proven all conference type of player. The former 3* gem with 94 speed Chris Conklin could possible take a leap up this year. We will need someone from Mckoy and the 6'4 Cantu to step up and we can't afford any injuries.

                              3 Biggest Questions

                              1. How elite will this DL group be after finishing 7th in sacks and returning most of the production with more depth?

                              2. Who steps up from the DB group and can the pass rush make up for it?

                              3. Does Kris Schwab improve from last year after his overall grade stayed the same? Is he our first 1st round draft pick?

                                Biggest Regular Season Win Ever

                                Redemption After Playoff Loss

It doesn't get anymore fun then this as last year in the playoffs we lost on the road to Penn State. That's how this season kicked off also on the road as well and wanting redemption for the 4-turnover game. Napier has yet to beat a top 15 team on the road. Can our QB Cory Flood get redemption for those turnover? They return Anfrenee Haslam the best QB in the country and tied with just 1 guy at a 94 rating. He had 4,932 yards last year with a TD:INT ratio of 61:9

We came into this game with 3 goals run the ball, no turnovers and be conservative on offense. We go up 13 to 0 after our QB breaks one for a TD out of the wildcat as the 2nd is about over. Before that you saw a clutch 44-yard FG. They beat us deep for a TD and it's a 6-point game at half a shocker as he was wide open. We were banged up at HB so we were being very conservative. The 3rd quarter saw each team hit 1 FG. We were driving with 5 minutes just trying to kill the clock for the upset win. With the game on the line 4th and inches the old QB sneak gets it and we escape 16-10 and beat a top 5 team on the road.

We love seeing the old school defensive games with run games and field position and that's what this was. Being able to win a game like this with the defense playing lightsout despite getting just 1 sack is awesome. We held them to just 179 yards of offense as they got nothing on 20 rushing attempts. We were held to just 303 yards ourselves. We won the Time of possession 29 to 15 and won the 3rd down game 52% to 27%.

                                5 Game Balls
                                K Tyler Thomas = 3/3 FG's long of 44
FB Shamir Niswander = 18 carries for 93 yards
                                C Markus Gastineau - 10 pancake blocks
DT Adrian Hagg = 6 tackles and 3 TFL
CB Jared Mckoy = 4 tackles and 1 Int
