    GAME RECAP

Jacksonville State has clinched a spot in the Sun Belt Championship game as they win their 10th game of the season... The Gamecock's will return home for their Week 13 rivalry matchup with the (5-4) Troy Trojans, as they look to keep their playoff hopes alive.

Jax State took a early (10-0) and extended it to (17-0) early in the 2nd.. The Owls found the endzone midway through the 2nd Quarter to make it (17-7)..

QB Stephen Penny entered the game having not turned over the ball but throws 2 INT's to close out the 1st half as Jax State goes into the locker room leading (17-7)..

Despite the turnovers, Coach Dees stuck with Penny and the SR QB delivered throwing 2 2nd half touchdowns finishing the game with 381 yds passing.

Despite missing Eric Miranda at RB, Jax State still managed a solid 153 yds on the ground and scored 4 times as True Freshman Gregory Dobbins carried the ball a season/career high 13 times for a season/career high 78 yds scoring 2 TD's.

It would be cool for JSU to make the CFP in Dees 1st year, but I also feel like it would almost be better if they came up just short even if they won the SBC so they have more to strive for next year. Rather than Dees just stepping in and leading a Natty charge, ya know?

But if they do crash the CFP party, the QB play will definitely need to improve. Those INTs will kill a "cinderella" story quickly

It's funny you say that cause right now it's like 50/50.. A week ago I would've told you they were not going to make it because both San Jose State and Buffalo were undefeated but they both loss. So right now it's Jax State, San Jose State, Buffalo and Ohio all with 1 loss, so Jax State is fighting for that #11/12 spot.. It's all going to come down to who wins and loses in Championship Week..

For sure.. It's been fun.. My best player on Offense Overall is basically a like a 82 and my best WR is only like a 78. So these guy's are playing well above their rating..

Tulane could give us trouble in the Title Game but overall i am enjoying the change.. I was a little surprised on how well some teams played and a very surprised with how easily I won some of the other games.. Same slider no changes yet get 2 completely different results.

OHIO STATE WEEK 14 TEAM REPORT

              ROAD WARRIORS

Ohio State will head into their Week 14 matchup with Michigan at 10-1 Overall and 8-1 in Big Ten play after picking up a pair of road wins over Cincinnati (35-21) and Michigan State (49-35) the past 2 weeks.

The wins also have clinched the OG Division which means no matter the results of Week 14, Ohio State will face either #3 Washington or #4 Penn State in the Big Ten Championship.

Washington (10-1/8-1) will face (7-4) Oregon at home in Week 14 well Penn State (9-2/7-2) will take on Pitt on the road. A Husky win would clinch their spot but a loss and a Penn State win would put the Nittany Lions in as they own the tie breaker handing the Huskies their only loss of the season.

              DE LA ROSA

Since Nick De La Rosa's 3 INT performance against Oklahoma back in Week 3 and his 2 INT performance in the Buckeyes loss to Notre Dame, the JR QB has been on fire throwing 25 TD's and just 2 INT's leading Ohio State to 6 straight wins.

For the season De La Rosa has thrown for 3147 yds with 36 TD's and a career low 11 INT's well completing a career high 64% of his pass's. He also has 3 rushing TD's this season after recording none last year well finishing the year with a negative rushing total.

              MCCRACKEN

Cameron McCracken leads the nation in rushing 1436 yds) and is a front runner to win his 2nd straight Doak Walker Award but his 9 TD's are not currently holding him back from a potential Heisman/Maxwell repeat as he is still currently #2 in the voting for both. With both Viliami Te'o and Frederick Tam combining for over 1000 yds and 16 TD's on the ground those are stat's McCracken needs to pass Duke QB Percy Uzomah.

              ORLANDO RIGGS

With 42 receptions for 1193 yds and 15 TD's, Redshirt Sophomore Orlando Riggs has entered the Heisman talk at #5.. Riggs has been dominating the opposing secondaries with multiple "Hat Trick/3 TD's* games well posting a 28.4 avg per catch.

              Coach Miller
"When E. Tandy left last year,I think we thought it would be pretty clear that either Nick Tull (41 rec 617 yds 8 TD) or D'Angelo Lowe (26 rec 354 yds 7 TD) would step into that #1 role and provide the big plays, but Orlando has been huge for us"
Riggs came into the season with just 2 career catches for 25 yds.

              PASS RUSH

For the past 4 season, OLB John Perez provided double digit sacks each season with Mafu Vakapuna joining him with double digits last year.. However with Vakapuna on the sidelines Ohio State has struggled to find a consistent pass rush this year.. Seniors Cortez Summer and Adrian LaPorta currently lead the team with 4.5 sacks each and as a team Ohio State has 25 sacks.

              THE SECONDARY

Ohio State entered the season with 7 CB's on the roster that were either Redshirt Freshman or True Freshman after graduating their Top-5 on the depth chart last year.. So far RS FR Onaje Onwuasor has 2 INT well True Freshman Miles Hargrave has 1. Instead it's been Senior SS's Paul Schofield (5) and Greg Robinson (4) that have provided the turnovers.. Coach Miller will need the young guy's to step up soon though if they have any chance at making multiple runs at Big Ten and National Titles.

              THE GAME

After a 3 year absence, "The Game" returns as Ohio State will host (6-5) Michigan in Week 14.. Despite the fact Michigan is in fact Bowl Eligible, you know for a fact that there is no bigger game of importance for the Wolverines this season then this one.

              RECRUITING

Coach Matt Miller since arriving in Columbus has landed (2)#1 Recruiting Class's and a #2 (FIU beat us) rebuilding the Buckeyes into a National Powerhouse... This year is no different as the Buckeyes add 2 more 4* Recruits to bring their total to 13 players (6-5*, 7-4*) as the class moves up to #6 in the Overall Rankings

Signing the past 2 weeks were

4* RG Leo Vaugn (#296 Overall/#8 WA/#13 RG) listed at 6'5 311lb from Spanaway WA

4* TE Devin Bilkukidi (#165 Overall/#4 IN/#10 TE) listed at 6'5 241 lbs from Zionsville IN.

Coach Miller still has (10) 4* Recruits left on his Big Board. With 19 Seniors plus some potential early entries (Lowe/Te'o/LT Howland and others) Miller will most likely look to sign another 5 High school recruits and fill the rest of the roster with transfers.

                GAME RECAP

Jacksonville State overcame 3 early turnovers by SR QB Stephen Penny to win their final regular season game over Troy improving to 10-1 Overall and 9-1 in Sun Belt play..

Penny along with 14 other Seniors were honored before the game started as all 15 made their final start in front of the home crowd.. Penny struggled early accounting for 3 INT's but really only 1 was his fault as the other 2 were just great play's by the Trojan secondary..

Penny however would rebound from those mistakes throwing for 5 TD's on the day including 2 in the 2nd half that clinched the victory.

Well Jax State didn't score a single touchdown on the ground in the game, the combo of Vaughn and Dobbins still combined for 24 carries for 113 yds giving the Gamecock's just enough balance and help win the TOP Battle to get the win.

                SUN BELT CHAMPIONSHIP

Jacksonville State will have the next 2 weeks off (14/15) before taking on Tulane (currently 8-3) in a rematch from Week 4.. (Jax State won 52-31)..

This is key because several players including RB's Landon Wahl and Spencer Coker will be able to return to action.

Wahl had 92 carries for 785 yds and 5 TD's before going down with his injury.

                RECRUITING NEWS

Jacksonville State's staff has secured 3 more commitments from high school recruits bringing their total to 26 signings so far this season (3-4*,23-3*).. The Class currently ranked #15 in the nation and #1 in the Sun Belt (Troy is #19, UAB is #33)

                Coach Dee's added

                3* DT Cornell Poe (#718 Overall/#7OK/#42 DT)
                3* DE Josh Durbin (#1198 Overall/#9 WI/#72 DE)
                3* MLB Karl Wall (#1108 Overall/#8 KY/#50 MLB)

We are being told that Dee's still has 5 scholarships on high school recruits and will look to add transfers to the roster as well once the season end's

                TRANSFER PORTAL NEWS

With only 15 Seniors on the roster that means Coach Dee's has currently over recruited 11 spots with the current signings and could over recruit as many as 21 spots should he add a full 35 player class.

Early reports are coming in speculating that JR QB Quincy Genus will most likely be looking for a new starting role next year on another team along with former 3* Terelle Day who is currently redshirting as he will most likely get passed on the depth chart by the incoming 4* Recruits in Jordan Awesome and Dillion Hawkins.

We are also being told that Ricky Vaughn's emergence has caught the eye of several teams looking for a solid RB.

The Gamecocks will also have to protect their WR room as several players have had standout years and could be top targets by bigger programs looking to give them more brand exposure as well as prepare them for a NFL career.

Reports are former QB turned WR Dalvin Smith (8 rec 176 yds 3 TD) could be looking for a bigger role..

Rumors are flying around RS FR Lamar Smalls (82 Overall) a former 4* signed by the previous staff is projected to be the starter next season for the Gamecocks at Tackle as Coach Dee's will lost both starters on the Left and the Right, but Smalls is the type of player who could start for probably half the teams in the country and will most likely be the Top target on the Jax State roster from teams with much bigger pocket books.

                  #22 (8-2) Navy
                  #23 (7-4) Alabama
                  #24 (9-2) Nevada
                  #25 (10-2) Rutgers

*FIU jumps the Buckeyes in the Rankings which isn't a huge deal except with Jacksonville State potentially have a shot at the #8/#9 seed it could mean a Coach Dees reunion with his former team in Round 2.

Duke's Week 13 loss to UNC drops the Blue Devils from #5 to #10 and also probably will knock them out of the ACC Championship Game with 3 loss's..

Texas and Texas A&M basically swapped spots in the rankings this week after the Longhorns defeated the Aggies (24-21).. Texas will close out it's season @ #16 TCU well TAMU will play @ Texas Tech.

Louisville also fell this past week losing to Maryland (27-18) dropping from #8 to #14.. The Cardinals also are now on the fence for a spot in the ACC title game as they will host instate rival Kentucky in Week 14.

#17 Fresno State played spoiler with Boise State earlier in the season and could do it again if they manage to beat #5 UCLA.. Right now the Bruins are expected to face Boise State in the Pac-14 Championship with the winner most likely securing a Top-4 seed into the playoffs..

#13 Ohio is holding onto a sliver of hope to make the playoffs as the #12 seed unless they can jump Jacksonville State in the rankings..

#15 San Jose State will need some help... If both Jacksonville State and Ohio happen to lose in their Conference title games and if the Spartans can win the Mountain West there is still a good chance San Jose State will be headed to the playoffs.

Here is a look at the current projections

#12 Rice vs #5 Washington winner facing #4 Texas A&M
#9 Boise State vs #8 Texas. winner facing #1 FIU
#11 Jacksonville Stat vs #6 Penn State winner facing #3 UCLA
#10 Duke vs #7 Notre Dame.. winner facing #2 Ohio State

                    GAME RECAP

Michigan loaded the box focusing on stopping the run and JR QB Nick De La Rosa made them pay throwing for 200 yds and 2 scores in the 1st Quarter to give Ohio State the (14-0) lead.

Michigan would reverse their defensive style in the 2nd Quarter instead looking to confuse turnovers and it worked as the Wolverines pick off De La Rosa 3 times including a 82 yd INT "Pick 6" for their first points of the day and then again late in the game to setup a 41 yd FG as Michigan goes into the locker room down (21-17).

Michigan played a almost perfect 3rd Quarter holding Ohio State off the scoreboard as they took a (24-21) lead with 4 minutes to play in the 3rd as Backup QB Reggie Levin hits Byron Frazier on a 58 yd bomb.

Ohio State would tie the game (24-24) early in the 4th Quarter and with 6 Miinutes to play in the game Frederick Tam would score his 10th TD of the season and his 78th of this career as he breaks the Big Ten career record held by Wisconsin's Monte Ball.

Despite trailing Michigan would choose to punt with less then 5 minutes to play in the game and RB Cameron McCracken proved why it was such a big mistake as the SR RB takes a handoff and goes 66 yds to the house to extend the lead to (38-24) with 4:27 to play.

Michigan facing a 4th down on the following series this time would go for it but they turn the ball over on downs as Ohio State looks to run out the clock.

The Buckeyes already up by 2 scores would make it 3 scores with 1:12 to play as De La Rosa finds McCracken out of the backfield for another score on a 10 yd pass.

Down by 3 scores, Michigan had no choice but to go to the air, but Levin throws a INT to SS Greg Robinson for his 5th INT of the year as Ohio State now can just run out the clock for the win.

                    UP NEXT

Washington beat Oregon (24-14) to secure their spot in the Big Ten Championship. A #2 will take on #3 with the winner securing a Top-4 seed in the playoffs with the loser most likely becoming the #5 seed.

                    RECRUITING NEWS

Ohio State signed 4 more 4* Recruits this past week. Coach Miller now has 17 commitments from (6-5* and 11-4) as the class jumps up 5 spots to #1 in the Country.

                    Here is who signed

                    4* TE Phil McCargo (#293 Overall/#17 OH/#19 TE)
                    4* DE Taylor Eddy (#243 Overall/#1 ID/#13 DE)
                    4* FS Cameron Buggs (#311 Overall/#1 KY/#14 FS)
                    4* CB Bryce Akbar (#324 Overall/#41 FL/#37 CB)

Landing (2) Gatorade Player of the Years in Eddy and Buggs are huge, especially Eddy who hails from Idaho. Akbar was also a big singing.. He has FIU #2 and K-Sate #3 with visits scheduled for Week 15 and 16.

Coach Miller still has 6 4* Recruits including a couple Green Gems left to sign and and could hit the portal as well to cover key players who declare early

Michigan just ran out of gas at the end and these Buckeyes are built for the long haul

Washington will be an interesting matchup. I want to say you didn't play them this year unless you are the one loss. But in the past with my USC one they'd always have really good offenses, but so-so defenses that put them in a lot of shootouts. Hopefully with your punishing ground game you can control the clock and limit their possessions

Yeah not sure what Michigan was thinking.. They loaded the box and was keeping McCracken and Te'o from big runs in the 1st Quarter but De La Rosa was firing.. Then they switched it up and dropped the LB's back which opened up some running lanes but helped them to 3 INT's, but the only 1 that really hurt us was the "Pick 6" as they punted after 1 of the others and got the late FG with the 3rd.

Notre Dame was my loss this season,, Washington's loss was to Penn State..

My Divisions are set up Ohio State, Michigan, Michigan State, Minnesota, Wisconsin, Nebraska and Cincinnati on 1 side..

Then I got Washington, USC, Oregon, Penn State, Notre Dame, Purdue and Pitt on the other.

The way it worked this year, we ended up with 4 of the Top-5 team in the rankings.. Ohio State at #2, Washington #3, Penn State #4 and Notre Dame #5. But I played both Penn State, Notre Dame, Oregon and Pittt in my out of division games, so Washington/USC/Purdue were the 3 teams I didn't face.

Looking at the Huskies roster.. They got 4 LB's that are a 96, 93, 92, 91 and the Top 3 are all Juniors.. They got low 90's at both DE and DT but their best CB is a 87 Overall. They got a 89 SR FS and then a 81 SO playing SS and not much depth.

On Offense they got a 83 Overall QB, but a 91and 87 Overall RB Duo that are both Seniors

The Offense is averaging 31.7 PPG vs Ohio State at 49.9. Their Rush Defense has only given up 978 yds which is Top-10 in the nation so we will see how they try to play us.

                          CHAMPIONSHIP WEEK MATCHUPS

Championship week is here and features several key matchups that will dictate who makes it to the College Football Playoffs as well as 3 games that will decide Top-4 Seeds and 1st Round Byes.

                          SEC

                          #1 (11-1/9-1) FIU VS #18 (8-4/7-3) ALABAMA

The Panthers had a successful first season in the SEC, but will now face a very talented Alabama team who would love nothing more then to knock the Panthers out of a Top-4 seed.. With no chance at making the playoffs a SEC title would be the biggest prize the Tide could win this season.

                          BIG TEN

                          #2 (11-1/9-1) OHIO STATE VS (11-1/9-1) WASHINGTON

The Buckeyes and Huskies matchup is for a Top-4 seed as both teams are a lock to make the playoffs.. The loser will drop to #5 and play the #12 seed in a home game in Round 1.

                          PAC-14

                          #7 (10-2/8-2) BOISE STATE VS #13 (10-2/8-2) UCLA

The Broncos sitting at #7 can still lock up a 1st Round "Bye" well UCLA needs the win in order to secure their trip to the playoffs.

                          BIG 12

                          #8 (10-2/8-2) TEXAS A&M VS #17 (8-4/7-3) OKLAHOMA)

This one could get messy.. If the Aggies win would win a Top-4 seed, but if the Sooners win, the question is would the loss drop A&M out of the playoffs?

                          ACC

                          #23 (9-3/7-3) MARYLAND VS (8-4/7-3) LOUISVILLE

At one point this season Louisville was a Top-10 team in the rankings and looked like they were going to take over the ACC with the departure of FIU/Miami/GT but a couple late loss's dropped them from the rankings. At this point it looks like #9 Duke (not playing for the title) will likely be the only ACC team to make the playoffs.

                          MAC

                          #12 (11-1/9-1) OHIO VS (9-3/7-3) CENTRAL MICHIGAN

The Bobcats playoff dreams are on the line.. A win and they should secure the #12 seed at worst as they best Non Power 4 team in the rankings.

                          MWC

#15 (11-1/9-1) SAN JOSE STATE VS (8-4/6-3) UTSA

The Spartans were the last team with a perfect record.but sadly their loss sent them spiraling in the Rankings and now they are going to need some help to make the playoffs. A Mountain West Championship coupled with either a Ohio and or Jacksonville State loss will most likely get them in, but having teams like UCLA lose to Boise State could also help.

                          CUSA

#19 (10-2/8-1) SOUTHERN MISS VS (9-3/7-2) COASTAL CAROLINA

The Eagles can't make the playoffs but a Top-25 finish with a CUSA title will go along way in helping them on the recruiting trail.

                          AMERICAN

                          #21 (10-2/8-2) RUTGERS VS (6-6/6-4) INDIANA

Like Southern Miss, the Scarlet Knights can't make the playoffs but winning their 11th game and a Conference Championship along with a Top-25 ranking and hopefully a Bowl game could be what the school needs to help make the jump back into a Power 4 conference.

                          SUN BELT

                          #10 (11-1/9-1) JACKSONSVILLE STATE VS #25 (9-3/7-3) TULANE

The Green Wave are just 1 season removed from a perfect season and a #4 seed in the playoffs and a playoff victory... Well Jacksonville State can't earn a Top-4 seed, they could start by winning a Sun Belt title and at least making the playoffs for the first time in school history. With RB Landon Wahl making his return, the Gamecock's are favored to win the game.

COULD DEES RETURN TO FLORIDA JUST 1 YEAR AFTER LEAVING?

Reports are the Florida Gators are prepared to make Jacksonville Head Coach a offer to leave Alabama after just 1 season at the helm of the Gamecock's.

Florida is coming off a 3-9 Overall Season and went just 1-9 in SEC play with a Offense that ranked 11th/14 teams in the SEC and in the bottom 3rd in the nation averaging just 25.7 PPG well scoring 36 TD's (24 PDT/12 RTD).

Florida's starting QB Bret Cornelius (90 Ovr) is graduating and chances are backup RS SO Greg Leber (82) would most likely hit the portal after completing just 1 pass this season for 28 yds., but the Gators depth chart offers a pair of Redshirt Freshman and a pair of True Freshman and with a opportunity to start, I am sure some of them would stay especially with Dees bringing a Offense that averaged 45.2 PPG.

Florida's Top-2 RB's are also set to graduate, C. Minor (84 ovr) and S. Dietrich (82 ovr) but RS FR Adrian Burden (78 ovr) could be a ideal candidate to take over and excel in Dee's Offensive system.

Dee's also would have a solid WR room unless several top targets hit the portal..

The question is does Dee want to build Jacksonville into a power similar to FIU or would he jump at the opportunity to rebuild a once mighty program into what they once were in the state he grew up in and play and recruit against his former school every year?

Florida was at the top of my wish list for Savage for quite a while. Storied program that hasn't really done anything since Urban Meyer left. It would be an interesting situation for Dees going against his former school on a yearly basis, basically vilifying himself to his alma matter.

I like it. Plus I think Dees vs Miller would happen quite a bit more often with the two power conferences as opposed to Jax State at the C-USA level.

Dees is Florida Born (Palmetto) South of Tampa, so I feel like as a kid throwing the football in the backyard and even probably in High School his dream was probably to one day play for the Gators, Seminoles or Hurricanes.. So I think Florida would be a great fit.. . He got offered Clemson again which has been pretty horrible in my Dynasty as well but I feel Florida fits the story line better...
