During the season the Panthers lead the series 3 - 1 and outscored the Rangers 19 to 10.

The Panthers will be looking to exact revenge for the 96/97 playoff as thier quest for the Cup continues with a stop in The Big Apple.

            Panthers are 12 - 2, with 63 GF, 39 GA

            Recap:

Nash and his Rangers were outplayed and outmatched as the Panthers rolled over them in 5 games. The Panthers out scored the Rangers 24 to 12 and thier aggresive checking strategy seemed to put them off guard.

Team Captian Nash, who was leading the playoff scoring race with 23 pts, was practically silent during the series only putting up 5 points while Panthers lead man Thompson was on fire with 10.

Fedorov was granted his 1st shutout of the 10/11 playoffs in game 2 and posted a GAA of 2.40 for the series while opposition goalie Lundqvist was a 4.60 GAA.

The Panthers will rest for a couple of days before taking on the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Finals. Interesting note here, if the Rangers had won it would have been Rangers vs Canucks, oww the good old Bure-Linden days.

            Team News:

            Booth (May 22 2011):
The victem of a clean hit by Redden, Booth suffered a minor bruised knee in the last game of the series. Listed as not series, the 1st line winger will wear a brace during the series and continue to play with Thompson and Lukes.

            Matthias (May 24 2011):
Having suffered a broken hand in the last game of the season, Matthias was finally cleared to play in his first Stanley Cup series game, which will begin tonight against the Canucks. Taffe (Has played incredible during the 10/11 playoffs) will be a healthy scratch.

You can say that again. :-) Thanks Mikko. Its going to be a tough series, the only time I played Vancouver in the 10/11 season and they beat me 4 to 2, so I guess we will see. Loungo is a beast.

                  Stanley Cup Finals
                  Canucks (12-2) VS Panthers (12-2)

Once again a newbie show hits the ice for the finals. This will be the first time the Canucks (missed the playoffs last year, but was 4th in points this year in the league) and Panthers (Beat Pheonix in 4 games for the Cup last year, Pheonix did not make the playoffs this year) face off in a Stanley Cup finals.

Last time the Canucks were here back in 93/94 they were beaten 4 to 3 by the Rangers. They have a completely new team since then and have another incredible goalie at the Helm with Luongo. You can bet they will be a force on the ice with the Swedish twins and the man that the fans call LOU....

On the other side of the Ice we have last years Stanley Cup champions, the Panthers. Basically the same team as last year with the additions of Horton-Thoresen-Belak-Volchenkov-Babchuk-Bergeron-Hannan, you can expect the Florida crew to play hard and take no prisoners. Thier hard hitting play and aggressive forcheck has gotten them this far in 14 games and there is no reason why they would change that philosophy. Thompson will lead the attack as Smith and goalie Fedorov protect the net, HERE IS GOOD LUCK FOR STANLEY CUP NUMBER 2.

                  Canucks Lines:

                  D.Sedin-H.Sedin-Bernier
                  Raymond-Kesler-Grabner
                  Burrows-Berglund-Demitra
                  Pettinger-Sonne-Samuelsson

                  Mitchell-Edler
                  Rome-Biesha
                  Weaver-Jucina

                  Luongo-Huet

                  Top Scorer: Raymond/D.Sedin 8-8-16/8-8-16
                  Top Goalie: Luongo 12-2, 1.93GAA
                  Team Stats: 12-2, 55 GF, 27 GA, 27.5 PP, 88.4 PK
                  Injuries : None

                  Panthers Lines:

                  Booth-Thompson-Lukes
                  Frolik-Thoresen-Recchi
                  Horton-Matthias-Rienprecht
                  Semenov-Moore-Belak

                  Hannan-Smith
                  Allen-Volchenkov
                  Babchuk-Bergeron

                  Fedorov-Salak

                  Top Scorer: Thompson 9-14-23
Top Goalie: Fedorov 12-2, 2.39 GAA
                  Team Stats: 12-2, 63 GF, 29 GAA, 20.0 PP, 64.4 PK
Injuries: Booth (Bruised Knee) - will play with a brace.

The Quest for the Cup starts tonight in Florida as one of the most Southern East teams takes on the most Northern West Team for the Stanley Cup Finals. Fedorov will start for the Panthers as Loungo starts for the Canucks.
