I've been playing MLB 10: The Show and I'm thoroughly impressed when they tell me a batter just broke a career high in a stat or a countdown to a major milestone. As a big stat guy I would love to see something like this implemented in the game.

Salak 16-8 3.15 GAA
Smith 2043 mins
Hannan 2018 mins
Thompson 1778 mins
Run Down:
Since the trade deadline, the Panthers didn't make any moves on Mar 7th, went 4-2 during the last 6 game stretch. A road record of 2-2 and a home record of 2-0, they managed to increase thier PP efficiency to 20.3%.
Thompson had 10 goals and 9 assists during those 6 games and averaged about 3.16pts/game. With 9 games left, he could finish off north of 180. 10 Panther players will finish the season with 40 or more points with the possibility of 7 of those finishing north of 50 pts.
Thompson linemates Booth and Lukes are also having great seasons with 87 and 80 pts respectively and could finish off near the 90 mark. Early season FA signing Thoresen has proved that he has what it takes to compete in the NHL recording 24 goals and 48 assists since joining the Panthers.
Fedorov leads the leagues in wins with 38 (A personal best in his short career), but his GAA has slipped abit from last year, from 2.65 to 2.72. Back-up goalie Salak has posted a record of 16-8 with a GAA 3.15 this year, he has struggled a bit during the season and will probably be bounced back to Rochester next year.
The Panthers will continue to rack up points as the last 9 games of the 2010-2011 season expire.
Team Notes/Events:
Recchi (Mar 17 2011)
Cleared to play, Recchi will take his usual spot on the 2nd line with Frolik and Thoresen. Schnieder sent back to Rochester.
Thoresen (Mar 20 2011)
Taking an ackward check from Nash of the Rangers (clean hit), Thoresen left the ice in a little pain. Diagnosed with a bruised arm, Thoresen will be scheduling some time in the press box - scheduled to return on Mar 28 2011. In his absence Jeff Taffe (69g, 13-20-33 pts, -18, 61 pims) was called up from Rochester where he will play on the 3rd line with Horton and Reinprecht. Matthias will move up to the 2nd line with Frolik and Recchi.
9 games left until the Stanley Cup Playoffs, so excited.Comment

Re: Panthers Beginning
Wow, you're going to be done with two playoffs before I hit my first! I guess that's what I get for playing all my AHL games?
I see you have had a few small injuries over the last 20 games or so. You're team seemed to deal well with the changes in the line-up. That had to make you happy. It's so hard to stay quiet at the trade deadline but I respect you for it. Sometimes keeping the team chemistry together is worth more than making a few trades. Still not sure what my Caps are going to do when I get that far.Comment

You know I was planning on making some moves but when the Avs offered Horton I had to take that deal. With him in the lineup and some pretty good depth on Rochester (for injuries) I was pretty happy with my team. So I stayed quite, and I'm very happy I did. This offseason will probably also be a quite one to, other then some re-signings and draft picks.
Yeah I wasn't happy with my injuries setting so I cranked it up a notch and now I'm very happy. Injuries always throw in some fun, so now you have to be careful with not only getting the right guys in your lineup but also finding decent depth in your farm team to help when a player goes down. I'm about to play my last game of the season (by the way its the Caps, haha) and the game before Matthias gets injured (He centers my 3rd line) and will be out until atleast the end of the 1st round of the playoffs. Now Rochester is also in the playoffs so who do I call up, I don't want to effect Rochester's playoff dreams but at the same time I need a guy that can work with Horton and Reinprecht so it should be interesting.
You have a great team already, so I don't know what I would do in your shoes. How do you feel about your defense?Comment

Last Report for 10-11 Season:
If you thought last year was a great season for the Panthers, then this one was from God.
The Panthers not only eclipsed last years numbers but also came close to beating NHL records. The Panthers finished with 122 pts (Franchise record, 16 more then last year), 59 wins (Franchise record and just short of the 62 mark held by the Wings, 11 more then last year), and had 331 GF (Franchise record, beating last year by 38 goals). They have secured the Presidents Trophy this year and will once again be the team to beat in the playoffs. Which will start against the Habs, just like last year.
On a player note two individuals stood out, superstar Nathan Thompson and Russian Goalie Ivan Fedorov.
Nathan Thompson, like last year, had another outstanding season. 50pts short of Gretzkys 215 point season with Edmonton, he still achieved 80 goals and 85 assists for 165 points in 82 games and had a record +/- of 95. He is a shoe in for the Ross, Hart, Richard, and Lester Awards.
So far in his 2 year career he has 147 goals and 162 assists for 309 points and he's still only 19. The Panthers will definately be looking to thier Captian to lead them deep in the quest for Lord Stanley's Cup.
Ivan Fedorov, like Thompson, is only 19 and already turning heads. In his 2nd NHL season he lead the Panthers and the NHL in wins with 43 (Broke a Franchise record of 35 held by Luongo) and finished 4th in the league with a GAA of 2.67. Gaining significant experience during lasts years Stanley Cup (Panthers beat Coyotes to win the Cup) he will be the lead man between the pipes, and keeper of Panther dreams.
Other favorable players were early season signing Patrick Thoresen and rookie Matthias.
Pathrick Thoresen, picked up early in the season as a FA signing, contributed 24 goals and 27 assists for 51 points in 72 games. His first complete season in the NHL, he was 8th on the Panthers in points and was 1 of 10 players with 40 + points. Maning the 2nd line with Frolik and Recchi, his offensive creativity will be looked on as the Panthers attempt to win thier 2nd Cup in a row.
Matthias, called up at the beginning of the season to center the 3rd line, has met and exceeded all expectations management had of him. Last year played for Rochester, this year the rookie put up 16 goals and 30 assists for 46 points. Was 5th in rookie scoring in the NHL and has definately found a home on the Panthers. Will start the playoffs in the press box with a broken wrist, he is expect to be back late in the 1st round and if the Panthers are lucky definately in the 2nd round.
All Florida fans will be glued to thier seats/tv screens/etc as the Panthers embarke on thier quest to win thier 2nd Stanley Cup.
Team Notes/Events:
Thoreson (Mar 27 2011)
Thoreson finally cleared by team doctors will lace up for the Bruins game. Taffe sent back to Rochester.
Matthias (Apr 10 2011)
Falling into the post during the game against Buffalo, 3rd line center Matthias will be doing some rehad time before he gets his chance to play in the playoffs. Listed as a broken wrist, he is likely to be back late May and if the Panthers don't go far will miss the playoffs. In his absence Taffe has been called up and will man the 3rd line with Horton and Reinprecht.
Season Wrap up, then round 1 preview.

Re: Panthers Beginning
* Plekanec, Laraque
A couple spelling errors, not a big deal just a pet peeve of mine because it's my team IRL I guess.
Nice write up, B. Is that Chris Bourque on Montreal's roster? That would be pretty funny if he actually he ended up there in your dynaty and I traded him to Montreal in mine.
Also, WTF is Laraque doing on the first line? *Facepalm*Comment
