ANDERSON GETS SHELLACKED IN DRUBBING TO LEAFS

The Maple Leafs offense scored just 1:46 into the first period, and they never looked back. 6 players combined to defeat the Ottawa Senators 7-1.

Kerfoot would score that pivotal first goal with Tavares adding another at 11:04. A late penalty to Mikka Salomaki would be easily killed off.

The second was a defensive battle, with only Conor Sheary scoring a PowerPlay goal at 4:22.

The third period? That's when the floodgates opened. Beginning at 4:13, Morgan Reilly and Travis Hamonic (SHG, 6:51) would add their 10th goals of the season to make it 5-0. Connor White would score on the PowerPlay to make it 5-1, but Schmaltz (PP, 9:36) and Kerfoot (19:42) would add goals for the 7-1 final. Jack Campbell made 21 saves in his first start.

The Senators were bullied all game long, being outhit 37-8, outshot 46-22 and generally outplayed.

Up next for the Leafs, a date with the Arizona Coyotes (27-22-5 at Scotiabank Arena on February 11

          DUBAS PULLS TRIGGER
          Feb 11/2020

The Toronto Maple Leafs have traded an underperforming Travis Dermott to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for Defenseman Alex Biega and a 2020 2nd Round Pick (originally Edmonton). Biega will report to the Toronto Marlies.

In a corresponding move, the Leafs have recalled rookie Timothy Liljegren from the Toronto Marlies. He had 4 goals and 24 points in 55 games to that point. He will not arrive in Toronto in time for the game as the Marlies are in the midst of travelling from Hartford to Grand Rapids for a game tomorrow. Look for Liljegren to make his NHL debut on the 13th, at home against Pittsburgh

The Leafs certainly didn't start the game the way they wanted. Pittsburgh scored early in the first period. Toronto would tie it later and take the lead in the second.

Being outshot 24-16 and generally out played, goalie Andersen stood tall, making 34 saves whilst the offense got going in the 3rd period, scoring 4 goals to end the game

LEAFS LOSE BOYLE TO WAIVERS, RECALL GAETEN HAAS
                  Feb. 29 2020

An underperforming Brian Boyle was put on waivers with the hopes of clearing to report to the AHL Marlies. However he was scooped up by the Seattle Grizzlies, where he has a chance to play on the second line with former Leaf Andreas Johnsson and Conor Garland

In a corresponding move, the Leafs have recalled Gaeten Haas from the Toronto Marlies. He will be the 13th forward

KHUDOBIN GETS CHASED, LEAFS LOSE 5-3

Detroit forward Frans Nielsen would score 1 goals & 2 assists to help his team defeat the Maple Leafs 5-3.

Although Ilya Mihkeyev would score first on a Detroit blunder at 5:53, the Red Wings would score the next 4 straight. Nielsen would tie the game at 6:20, this time on a Leafs blunder. Hirose (10:47) and Rowney (14:10) would score to make it 3-1 to end the first. That would end Khduobins night, who made 7 saves on 10 shots. He was replaced by Andersen (22/24)

Anthony Mantha would add another at 2:26 od the second, but the second would be mostly defensive.

Kapenen tried to get things going at 5:35 of the third, but Bertuzzi would ensure there would be no comeback at 9:46. A bright spot saw rookie Timothy Liljegren score in the PowerPlay at 19:47 to end the game at 5-3. Detroit's Johnathan Bernier made 28 saves in the win.
