UCONN's basketball is on probation for poor academics, the school itself is an AAU institution. In other words, it's academics are excellent.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Put it this way, the ACC must keep FSU. If FSU leaves, then the other football teams will also look to leave. With the horrible contract that Swofford negotiated, I don't see how the football ACC schools can stay. Other conferences are getting a lot more money and that is putting them at a bigger disadvantage.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Nothing would be added to the ACC with any of those teams other than ND. ND is also not going to come to the ACC without having control of their TV rights.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
aggy voted for "unequal revenue sharing" every time it came up (just like nebraska) except for an arbitrary vote on their way out. aggy and corn-aggy just couldnt field a decent-enough product to take advantage so they pointed the finger at big bad texas. Also, it couldnt have been the LHN because aggy was approached about being included in the deal before the network even existed.Texas. Football. All. Day.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
If Louisville doesn't have good enough academics for the ACC, why would UCONN? They're on academic probation or something.
Outside of ND, the ACC doesn't have a ton of good options.
Louisville: (Academic Ranking #164 acc to US News)
+Good Basketball
-Mediocre Football
UCONN (#58)
+Good Basketball
+New Market
+Potential BC Rivalry
-Bad Football
-On Probation
University of Cincinnati (#143)
+Decent Basketball/Football Programs
+Not too far from ND (Potential Rivalry?)
-Tiny Football Stadium
-Nothing Special in any major sport
Rutgers (#68)
+Good Academics
+New Territory
-Mediocre at most major sports
Navy (#14 Liberal Arts)
+Sizable National Fanbase
+Potential Rivalry with Maryland
-Awful at Basketball
-Inconsistent at Football
Army (#14 Liberal Arts)
+Respectable National Fanbase
-Afwful at basketball
-Not good at football
-Awkward location between Syracuse & BC
Temple (#132)
+Good Basketball Program
+Large Stadium (CCG)
+In Philadelphia
-Mediocre attendance
-OK football team
USF (#181)
+In Florida (Might help FSt Stay)
+Decent football team
-Academics
-Nothing special (Doesn't give anything stellar to the ACC)
UCF (#177)
+In Florida
+Good Football Team
-Academics
-Inconsistent at basketball
SMU (#62)
+Football on the Rise
+Texas Fanbase
+Academics
-Basketball
-Geographical Oddity
Houston/USM (Not Published)
+Football
+New Fan Base
?Academics
-Baskebtall is inconsistent
Tulsa (#72)
+Decent at football
+New Fanbase
+Academics
-Basketball
-Geographical Oddity
ECU (#194)
+Good attendance at football games
-Poor basketball team
-Academics
-Awful geographical location
I think that covers just about everybody. I think if they can't get ND, Rutgers and UCONN are the most likely. Some of these schools (USM, Houston, SMU, etc.) are most likely not on the ACC's radar. Honestly though, SMU would be a pretty good choice for them, IMO. Adding in SMU and Tulsa, while setting up an east-west type of thing, would not be too bad for them. Sure, basketball would take a hit, but they could improve (Tulsa had a winning record, SMU was 13-19) with better funding (From the ACC). Temple might not be bad, the CCG could be in the Linc. Granted, IDK how many people would show up to that.
Did I miss anybody, and who do you guys think would be good for the ACC?Follow me on Twitter: @ADice15Comment

ODU is leaving the CAA to join the CUSA, which means they'll go from FCS to FBS in 2013.
