umm UC has won at least a share of the Big East 3 of the last 4 years. UL can't claim that. You gotta put Cincinnati in the "ok" category too.NCAA >>> Madden

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Looks like no ACC news until this weekend and the ACC Championship game in Charlotte. Council of Presidents have a meeting on Saturday as they usually do on ACC Championship weekend. Maybe an official annoucement next Monday."If you have a linebacker on him, you might as well start singing their fight song." -- WSU coach Bill Doba on Reggie Bush

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
The rumor going around is that UVA, UNC, and GT have all had talks and possibly applied for admission to the Big 10. GT supposedly reached out to the Big XII as well but were not shown as much interest in reciprocation. I think UVA and UNC would be the first 2 taken and GT as a backup. If I recall, MD was a founding member of ACC, so even though Swofford was AD or whatever at UNC, nothing is sacred anymore.
If this happens, expect VT and NCSU to be picked up by SEC. Supposedly, Big XII is still in close contact with FSU and would bring them, UM, Clemson, and GT.
Hold on, it's going to be a bumpy ride no matter what happens.S.O.S Crew

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I still don't think the ACC implodes if they lose NC. They could invite UCONN, Louisville, and maybe Ohio in all sports. Then maybe grab St. John's, Seton Hall, Georgetown in basketball.
Losing NC hurts the ACC, but I don't think it kills them. Losing FSU, Clemson, Miami, or Georgia Tech will hurt them more IMO.Comment

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
Just hopped on twitter just in time to see a bunch of tweets regarding word that Tulane may be heading to the Big East. Can't find any credible news articles yet as this may have just broken minutes ago.
All I can say about this conference realignment is:xinfinite. Complete and utter lunacy.
EDIT: From espn.com
The conference shuffle continues with word that Tulane will join the Big East in all sports, a source told ESPN's Joe Schad on Tuesday.
An announcement is expected later in the day.Last edited by BurghFan; 11-27-2012, 12:03 PM.Steelers : IX, X, XIII, XIV, XL, XLIII

Well, I guess the Big East isn't dissolving, after all.
Tulane should help the conference to keep its status as one of the power-six conferences.Comment

According to the UH and Rice beat reporter for the Houston Chronicle, East Carolina is in the mix, too.

Re: Conference Re-Alignment Thread Part Who Knows
I also find it curious that Tulane is going to the Big East instead of Louisiana Tech. I mean, sure, Tulane is nominally in New Orleans and whatnot, but Louisiana Tech probably has more of a potential market there, being a significantly better football team that is also in the state of Louisiana. And I can't imagine that Louisiana Tech would have turned down the Big East in favor of C-USA.Texans - Cougars - Astros - Rockets - Dynamo - Chelsea - LightningComment
