Then it still fails because they are liable to add Tulsa as well. Either way, they are naming the conference based on the future. Pick a non-numerical name like the Mountain West, Conference USA, and Sun Belt. Leave the number out. Just makes the Big 12 and Big Ten look silly.

Nope. He was right, you never included the loss of Rutgers and Louisville. It's 11 even with those schools.

As I understand it the MWC's payout scheme will reserve almost half of the conference's total tv revenue to be used to pay incentive bonuses to the schools that appear in games aired by major networks (90+ mil homes, i.e. ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox, ESPN and ESPN2; as a practical matter for the 2013 season this means the 22 games to be aired by ESPN/ESPN2).

Since all six of BSU's 2013 home games have already been selected by TWWL, that means there are only 16 slices of that pie remaining for the other 11 schools. As a result of this Boise State will get substantially more $ than the other MWC schools, and could easily earn 2-3 times as much as the bottom feeder schools - and that's before bowl revenues are taken into account. Nice deal if you're BSU--not so nice if you're one of the other 11.

The Conference Formerly Known as the Big East (TCFKatBE), otoh, will divide tv revenue more equally (full members receiving a larger share than the BB only schools). Combine that with the facts that (1) for this year at least TCFKatBE still has an auto BCS bowl bid; and (2) far more of it's games will appear on the ESPN family of networks than will the MWC's, thereby giving more schools a shot at national exposure. When you consider those two factors it becomes clear that the notion that the respective deals are roughly the same is an illusion.
Yea in the short term you have a point, long term the deal will be close once you factor in NCAA Tourny money. MWC has a much deeper basketball league top to bottom at this point an will be able to get more at large bids over the next decade or so. Plus everyone knows UCONN and Cincy aren't long for that league to carry the product. They'll stay long enough to take a massive chunk of that 85 million and then as soon as the next move above them is made and once they are gone and the league is down to being a 1-2 bid league just like CUSA is now with Memphis and Temple. In addition Navy is clearly having 2nd thoughts now. Navy makes over 3 million just off of Army-Navy TV money EVERY YEAR alone. Their cut is less than full share of 1.8 million from A12 since they are football only as well. That league is as stable as a house of cards at this point.

Bottom every outside the Group of 5 are eating sardines, the only difference is the A12 is eating sardines on ESPN on weeknights and trying puff out their chest. The vast majority of the saturday games will belong to Louisville next season, then they are gone too. It's hilarious to me, because these A12 fans were cursing ESPN and accusing it of sabotage not just 4 or 5 months ago and preventing them from getting a fair tv deal. Now it's all good and all is forgiven because ESPN threw peanuts at the league. I find it to be absolute nonense to try to act bougie against your peers when the only difference between your league and MWC is one year of BCS access and a few games on ESPN. If it helps you sleep and the others sleep at night, go ahead, but trust everyone else see you in the exact same light as the MWC.

Notre Dame to join ACC in July without an exit fee.
Notre Dame and the Big East have reached an agreement allowing the Fighting Irish to leave the league two years early and join the ACC on July 1.

ACC to play 18 b-ball games with 3 home and home games and 12 single match ups. The Lacrosse league is going to be a monster to get through as well with Maryland, Duke, UNC, UVA, Cuse and ND.

Thats a solid Lax Conference. I think they should add Johns Hopkins as Lacrosse only, since they are currently an independent. Wouldn't be a huge move, but they have a decent fanbase and get some ESPN games.

Rumor is John Hopkins is looking to go to B1G for Lacrosse only. Hopkins would be the first member to not join in all sports which is usually a no-no for them, but the B1G Presidents would love to have Hopkins in the CIC to share in all the research and files Hopkins has access to.

Wow, Maryland got the B1G to give them 20-30 million for "travel subsidies" in a lump sum and Rutgers will not recieve a dime. Sounds more like someone in Chicago knows that 50 million dollar ACC fee will stick in court. Somebody needs to hire whoever is in Maryland's legal department, because they are winning big time. I'm sure Psyblast and other B1G fans are "loving" that aspect of the deal.

Not exactly college football, but the new BE is adding Creighton, Xavier, and Butler.

Xavier University announced Wednesday that it's leaving the Atlantic 10 and joining fellow private schools in a new Big East conference.

Here is the live coverage of the presser.

Saw this story yesterday. If any two of Houston, Cincy, UCONN or Temple leave the A12, the contract is null and void. Supposedly, NBC put that provision in and ESPN could not take it out when it matched the offer NBC made.

If the Big East loses two more schools to conference realignment, the league's seven-year media rights deal can be terminated, industry sources told ESPN.

First VCU, now George Mason. The two mid-majors that made stunning runs to the Final Four from the Colonial Athletic Association will reunite in the Atlantic 10, according to a source.

We'll only have to wait until NCAA 15 for Appalachian State to appear in game.

I had to be that guy.
