I'm so happy Georgia Southern is finally moving up. App State too, but mostly happy for the Eagles.

Wonder if more D2 schools will start moving up to replace all the leaving schools?

Also, it's a long shot, but maybe Lehigh could get a CAA invite. Good Basketball (Thouh with small schools it's very streaky) and a pretty solid football program with decent attendance (8-9k a game, with the Lafayette game selling out) and excellent academics.

Yep, just saw this. Read a different article though that also says that Idaho and New Mexico St. are likely to join as football only members. This article includes a nice little table at the bottom showing the current and future conferences.

Yeah, CBS is reporting Idaho and NMSU FBS status is saved by the Sun Belt again. In 2000, the Sun Belt saved them and they got saved again this year. Those two will be football only members andthe Sun Belt will have 12 football/12 basketball members (UT-Arlington and Arkansas-Little Rock don't play football)

It will be interesting to see how Georgia Southern and ASU will be at competing the first couple of years in the Sunbelt. ASU and GS have done a pretty good job recruiting and it will be interesting to see what impact this move has.

Like to see who is going to move in to the Southern Conference to replace them. I hope they stay in the same general geographic areas. Lots of local boys from Boone and surrounding areas plays for other Southern conference schools.

Good luck to both though, cant wait to see the Mountaineers raising the Sunbelt Championship trophy to go with their 3 back to back national Titles!

Honestly, with the amount of new football programs/FCS teams in the Sun Belt, I imagine they will be fairly competitive.

Welcome aboard! Happy to have you and Georgia Southern in the conference. Idaho and New Mexico State? Not so much.

Only possible reason to add Idaho and NMSU is to get to 12 for a conference title game. Unfortunately, that's a really idiotic way to go about things since Tulsa just left for the Former Big East Football Conference. As such, C-USA will almost certainly be looking to pull from the Sun Belt as they have for the past few rounds of realignment. Which means we'll probably lose WKU and be stuck at 11 for football with nobody to add but FCS.

They finally got what they've wanted for a decade. A dollar short and a year late, but you can't be picky.

Kind of how it works for a lot of smaller teams pining for a new conference. Boise State finally got into the Mountain West where they'd get to play stronger programs like TCU, Utah, and BYU... Who all left. Memphis finally got into the Big East where they'd meet up with old C-USA rival Louisville... Who are leaving for the ACC.

The school most rumored to be moving up to fill in for WKU is James Madison. They've had good teams (beat Virginia Tech a few years back) and have good attendance.

Then again, it's only a matter of time before the Big XII, Big Ten, and SEC start pulling from the ACC or the ACC pulls from Big East and the dominoes start to fall yet again.
