Somebody had said hopefully it will end this idea of amateurism so I went with how I saw that going down. I guess I should have said that rather than the NCAA going down.

I mean if you do eliminate the ideas that college football players are amateurs, then they would become professionals, no?

I think the university presidents may have a backlash against college athletics before that happens. There's a common perspective right now that college athletics are too powerful and with so many schools running a budget deficit in their athletic programs you could see some action there.

It's funny how off some predictions (Including my own) were if you go back to the start of the thread.
        Football: Denver Broncos
        Baseball: Lehigh Valley Iron Pigs
        Hockey: Allentown Phantoms

This is also interesting and plausible. A feud between presidents and ADs?
College sports needs to be reeled back in so that athletes actually have to be good students.

In other words, Idaho & NMSU plus the entire CAA. Plus some filler in case the CAA stays strong.

But mostly Appalachian State and Georgia Southern. New Mexico State would be an easy add because they don't have a home, are a former member and are already FBS so you don't have to deal with transition like with App State and Georgia Southern. Idaho would be incredibly desperate and likely football-only, similar to their previous affiliation with the SBC.

I still doubt Idaho gets an invite from the Sun Belt for anything after all the hard feelings between Karl Benson and them and how they pushed to get him out as WAC Commish.

If I was the MW, I would invite Idaho, NMSU, Sacramento State, and San Diego U to form a 16-team conference. Unfortunately, the real MW isn't inviting any of them.

16 teams just means having to split the pie four more ways than they already have to. And none of those teams bring much of anything. The MWC already has the best programs in Idaho and New Mexico and already have an FBS presence with San Diego State. Plus there are already three California teams in the conference and they have no need to pickup any FCS schools.

Not to mention that University of San Diego doesn't even offer athletic scholarships for football so no way they'd jump to FBS anytime in the near future.

Yeah, I could have sworn they didn't even have scholarships. That blows that plan away. I think the MW should add SJSU. Great school.

SJSU is already joining next year along with Utah State.

Catholic 7 will leave in July 2014. Fox sports offered about 40 million a year to broadcast games if they get Butler and Xavier to come on board. Works out to being around 4 million a school once they pick the schools up.

NBC offered the 10 remaining Big East schools around 20-22 million a year for tv rights. ESPN has the right to match if they want.

Edit: Looks like this is the offer for everything including football.

East Carolina will get an all sports invite to the Big East now.

NBC Sports Network verbally offered the Big East between $20 million to $23 million a year for six years to acquire the league's media rights, sources told ESPN.
