Re: How is your dynasty going

The 3-0 Cyclones hosted #25 Texas in week 5 in a huge game not only in the conference, but for Iowa St's new coach Ryan Dominick. Texas had the only really experienced Big XII QB coming back and it showed. David Ash shredded our defense, only having one incompletion in the whole first half. Texas took a 14-7 lead into the break. After getting the ball to start the 3rd quarter, Ash once again carved up our D and Texas managed to get a FG to make it 17-7. After a huge run by our sophmore QB Sam Richardson--he would finish the game with 190 yards rushing- we scored to make it 17-14. Texas held the ball for most the 4th quarter, but we made a huge stop with about 3 minutes left and Texas had to punt. Big runs by Richardson and our RB Jeff Woody, along with our backup running back who is actually better than Woody, but also a senior, we got the ball to the goal line with about a minute left. Texas D stood tall and forced us on a 4th down. Rather than tying the game with an easy FG with 20 seconds left, coach Dominick and Iowa state took a HUGE gamble and went for it. Play action pass, Richardson rolls out looking like he would run it in but Texas's DE is coming in fast. Richardson passes it to the flat to our junior FB Pierce Richardson who catches it at the 2, gets hit, spins and IN THE ENDZONE FOR 6!! IOWA ST TAKES THE LEAD WITH 10 SECONDS LEFT! After one last attempt by Ash, we would close out the game and win a crazy finish, remaining undefeated. One of the biggest finishes in Jack Trice stadium history. Iowa st has played Texas 11 times, only winning once, however this was Iowa State's first win over Texas at home.

After the win, Iowa State moves to #22 in the AP poll, but still unranked in the coaches poll. Up next we play Texas Tech at Lubbock, hoping to start out Big XII play with an important 2-0 start. Things don't get any easier, after Texas Tech we play Baylor on the road as well.

        Week 9 4-2(2-1) Marshall at 6-1(3-0) MTSU

        image.jpg

With recruits in attendance the Blue Raiders take there win streak to 6 games after struggling to get offense going early. We had 457 yards of total offense but only took a 6-0 lead into half time. But in the second half we scored on our first two possessions and were able to take the win 27-14. Although we have been on this winning streak it has not always been pretty, and have a feeling if we don't figure it out a loss is sure to come. Moving to 7-1(4-0) we look to sneak into the top 25, although have not received any votes yet this season.

        Logan Kilgore was 24-36 294 yards 1TD 1 INT
Jordan Parker had 95 yards on 14 carries and a TD
Shane Tucker had 43 yards on 6 carries and a TD
10 different receivers recorded a catch with Reggie Whatley leading the way with 8 for 130 yards. The way he's been playing he could break the single season reception and yardage records.
JR WR Devin Clarke had his first catch of the season a 27 yard TD

LE Shubert Bastien had 2 sacks taking him to 11 on the year and tied the single season record.
Former marine Steven Rhodes #49 recorded his first sack of the season.

After the game we signed the following recruits:
        1* CB 56(+3)
        1* OLB 52
        3* MLB 66(-2)
        3* MLB 68(+3)

Still hold a 1,020 lead on Memphis for our #1 recruit 3* DE 78(+6)

Now the 37th ranked class going into week 10, 3rd in C-USA. Notre Dame still #1, Troy 10, Army 13, Tennessee 123, Kent State 126

Week 10 we travel to face 2-5(1-2) UAB and we are still unranked no votes received.

          Week 10 7-1(4-0) MTSU at 2-5(1-2) UAB

          image.jpg

A rainy day in Birmingham, but the Blue Raiders were able to pull away in the end. Going into halftime at 14-14 the game looked exactly like coach Kay was talking about, and it seemed like the Blazers would pull off an upset in front of there home crowd, but Reggie Whatley and company were able to silence them. Player of the game again Whatley was unstoppable. Moving to 8-1(5-0) MTSU is looking to crash some bowls, but the voters do not seemed to be impressed by a weak C-USA schedule.

Logan Kilgore was 18-22 205 yards 3 TD 1 INT
Jordan Parker had 61 yards on 10 carries
FB Chase Pennycuff had his first TD of the season on a 3 yard run
Reggie Whatley had 10 receptions for 152 yards and 2 TD, next leading receiver had 2 catches for 10 yards.
The defense had 5 sacks, all in the fourth quarter, Bastien had 0 and is still tied for the school record with 11.

          After the game we signed
          2* SS 65(+2)
          3* WR 66

We dropped to the number 42 class, still 3rd in C-USA behind ECU and Rice. Oklahoma moves to #1, surprise Troy at 14, Washington #9 in the country sits at 122 and Kent State still at 126.

Heading into our week 11 matchup with 3-5(1-3) FIU the following players are set to visit

          2* FB 71(+2)
          1* FB 52(-5) Bust
          3* TE 65(-1)
          3* G 66(+2)
          2* G 64(+5)

          Award Semifinalists
          Walter Camp-Reggie Whatley 9th
          Nagurski-Shubert Bastien 4th
          Biletnikoff-Reggie Whatley 1st
          Lombardi-Shubert Bastien 2nd
          Returner-Kenneth Gilstrap 1st

Whatley has 60 receptions 1,086 yards 18.1 avg 10 TD, 4 carries for 43 yards and 2 TD. School records for season are 76 and 1,280

Whew! Man of all teams that gave me trouble, the 1-5 Kentucky Wildcats almost pulled the biggest upset in NCAA history against my #1 ranked Georgia Bulldogs. Week 7 of the 2022 season. Kentucky hosted us. My QB managed to throw for over 400 yards and 3 touchdowns, but got intercepted 3 times. Like the past two games, it came down to the last minute or two. In the fourth quarter, we were tied at 27. Georgia scores a touchdown and went for a 2 point conversion. 2 point conversion failed! Kentucky comes back and runs in for a touchdown and kicks the extra point. They were leading 34-33 with under a minute left. Georgia gets the ball back. QB Cobb throws to TE Sanders for 24 yards. He then throws to TE Hill for almost the same amount. Then the ball is handed off to HB Richards. He gets it to the 29 yard line on Kentucky's side of the field. Then I call a timeout with 7 seconds left. We set up for a field goal. The ball is up and it is......GOOD! (the ball was only a couple feet away from hitting the right side of the post). Georgia wins 36-34.

I fear that great winning streak is about to come to an end this week. Playing top-ranked Georgia in Athens. This could get ugly, fast!

I'm certainly happy the way my season's started, though!

              Yeah, I was right . . .

Don't get me wrong. It was a pretty good game up until halftime. Despite a forced throw that led to a key interception for Georgia, I had them within seven at the intermission, 14-7. My defense was stellar in the first half, and the TD came off a beautiful bomb to a wide-open Carlos Harris for a 59 yard TD reception to tie the game early in the 2nd quarter.

But, (as I really could only expect going into the game) Georgia went into beast mode in the second half. Their depth and stamina wore me down and even though my guys put up a great fight, I had to keep telling myself in my mind, "I really didn't expect to win this."

Despite the valiant effort, we fell 38-7. I got desperate in that 4th quarter (still only down 10 at the time) and started forcing passes. That led to my demise.

But, we got a bye week next and then travel to New Orleans to take on Tulane. Here's to hoping the 3-1 Mean Green bounce back and win their first in-conference game as a member of C-USA!

Well, after playing quite a few games on All-American difficulty, I'm impressed with the results I've been getting. Now I don't have to blow out every team that I face. However, I experienced my first blowout today on the setting. In Week 8, it was #1 Georgia vs #13 Pittsburgh. Pittsburgh simply did not stand a chance. Final score: 70-17 Georgia.

Just started a dynasty with South Alabama. I like taking random, 1 star prestige teams and somehow turning them into a power house. I started a youtube channel for the dynasty, I'll be vlogging on this and on my channel.

As for week 1, you know how the FCS teams are supposed to be easy beats? yeah..not so much for South Alabama. Still pulled out the victory in what should have NOT been a close game!

Re: How is your dynasty going

Just started year 3 of my dynasty and my offense is in trouble. I graduated a LOT of seniors last year, so my team is very young at the moment. I literally have 10 seniors on the roster right now.

My offensive line is Freshman - Freshman - Freshman - Junior - Junior (T converted from defensive end, no joke). My starting QB is a Sr. who was the third string (meaning he stinks). I have a strong freshman who came in but decided to red-shirt him; next year he'll be my starter at 80+.

Because of this I'm pretty one dimensional (run to one side of the line, limited passing effectiveness). My defense is better but still much worse than last year.

Preseason ranked #4. My tune-up game was supposed to be just that, instead I get blown out in my own stadium by a C average team. Oops. Though I admit I was probably over-ranked to begin with (graduating that many seniors).

Onto the Beef O'Brady's Bowl at 6-6 if I'm lucky. I hope my prestige isn't impacted too badly (2 years left on contract).

                              What team are you?

And just like that my national title hopes have been dashed. Took a tough loss against Alabama. I thought I could withstand a season-opening loss to Michigan and still make it, but it looks like I'll have to settle for what most likely wont be a BCS bowl game. Ugh, at least almost all of my starters will be back next year, so the next 2-3 years will be my biggest chances to win it all.
