It would theoretically stop your sliding ol/dl, magical recoveries, at least help with your db/wr footsteps, qb scrambles, linemans running down a speedy back, etc.

If you're out of position, true step would mean you're literally out of position, and crazy magical recovery abilities should/would be gone.
Clint covers true step being limited to 2 players in this podcast. Jp transcribed it for us in post #64 as well. Obviously if this is the case, it doesn't stop sliding or warping and explains why pasta, Ian couldn't tell a noticeable difference with their hands on.

People are being respectful one on one and I do respect that, but it feels like I'm the only one with a bit of slight optimism showing for NG and when 5 or 6 people start disagreeing at the same time towards me, it's not fun.

Maybe with me lurking there won't be anymore contractions.

Is there anything wrong with having a slight bit of optimism for NG Madden in the near future? Seems to me there is, so, maybe it's time to keep that optimism to myself and let it all play out.

I for one enjoy your posts. Just not as optimistic for NG as you are. It's been almost 10 years since we've had a real NFL game IMHO. I'm just tired bro, as are a lot of us. Frustrations boil over at some point.

Don't take it personal, we're all here for the same thing honestly.

Trust me you're not the only one who feels singled out at times.

I get it though, EA hasn't given people much room for optimism. I just don't live my life always looking at the past when I look towards the future and I do believe things can change for the better regardless of how they've been. For me though its never personal or an attack against someone if they disagree with me. I hope everyone understands that and never takes things personally against them.

Agree, and I learn something from everyone's post.

I've been hammering away at Tiburon since the summer, I'm as frustrated as any other person. I just felt a glimmer of hope with the war in the trenches and the candid interview from Rex and Clint. I don't feel there is anything wrong with that.

Not taking it personal, as I mentioned, it was 5 or 6 at once, not the usual one at a time.

Thanks for the post, you too, JP.

So gutting to have learned this today.

              Total oversell of the feature.

I agree with you that there was reason for optimism with the ol/dl videos and it does seem like this team is headed in the right direction. The thing that completely crushes any optimism I had is the timeline when madden is already so far behind the other sports titles. The thing I don't understand is if they're so committed to fixing the game and there's been an internal shift in philosophy etc. why are they releasing a next gen version at all when they've already admitted it's incomplete.

I can only think of one answer; money. Not sure if it's the right answer.

Might be the change at the top. Wilson coming from the EA Sports brand to the top of EA, looking to make his mark on the company.

Business legend if he's the one that turns Madden around to the sales volume it once had, or gets it up to the FIFA/COD level of units sold.

I don't think there is any other possible answer. Football fans want football. Regardless of how good or bad the game is... it still sells.

I'm sure that's the answer, and its the reason I don't fully buy into the change of direction thing. When push comes to shove these guys aren't gonna have anymore control than any past team has. Hopefully they get the game turned around sooner rather than later though.

Honestly I just took it as a given that when they announced the true step that it would be for everyone on the field and I kind of brushed off the comments questioning if it was so as being over cautious. I guess I should have learned by now not to give the benefit of the doubt.

The question i ask myself regarding that though, is, if that is true, how come physics, true player motion, pass and run blocking logic, and o/d line interactions were never addressed until Cam Weber came?

to be honest tho... each of these facets of gameplay haven't been OVERHAULED exactly. Physics is still very subpar. More like augmented animations to their limbs. They just manipulate the animations to appear like physics. There are countless examples of this. Like when you hurdle and get hit in mid air... you see the same 3 animations take place. A true physics engine would change these scenarios each time.

The jury is still out for true player motion and o/d blocking and interactions. I don't feel much of a difference in madden 25 current gen.. hopefully next gen is changed more.

I just feel that these CHANGES are more like bandaids on a broken engine. Everything that EA says that they are overhauling never truly feels like a new part to the game. Maybe its the crappy player models.. or the crappy animations that ruin these changes... but I know I am not alone when i say that the general 'feel' to the game hasnt changed in a decade.

Its not just you. Alot of us feel the same way. Even if you go through the impressions thread you'll find a lot of us old heads coming around to Madden again and looking forward to the direction it seems to be moving. But a lot of folks are just worn out with these same discussions. I made a post and deleted it because I figured what's the use. People are passionate and convinced about their feelings towards EA, rightfully so in some cases as I was there too. But I am looking forward to FB gaming again after m25 CG
