Re: VSN Arcade Podcast scheduled to interview EA's Rex Dickson and Clint Oldenberg!
They were voted worst company in America again for a reason. You figure they would want to interact and listen to the community more to fix that. Instead, they basically said nah nah nah we can't hear you. That is if we continue to critique and compare their product. It's really immature of a big company.Comment

If I see that worse corp in the US one more time.........
Seriously, though, that poll was not from a CNN or Forbes website, business sites that I would respect if the poll came from there.Comment

Other companies have programming departments and it's part of the manufacturing process.
No?Comment

It seems to me that Rex probably thinks a lot of the code is crap and he is in a no win situation. He is probably doing the right things here (mostly), because he wants to fix the game. The problem is it's so broken, that it's taking too long, and the longer it goes, the more people they will lose.Comment

Huh? Why would programming be part of manufacturing? Nothing related. There is a development process for software engineering, which includes testing. However, bugs will slip through if your testers don't know what they are doing and if the code is just really bad. They have a hard deadline. They won't delay the game because of ****ty code.

Also, in my line of work, I've always aligned programming(whether it's widgets or automobiles) with the manufacturing process. This is what I was taught early on in my career.
Now, maybe software development for a gaming company is a whole different ball of wax vs widgets and cars.
I will also concur with your last paragraph.
In addition, when people post Madden doesn't have the talent, my gut tells me it's all encompassing, developers, programmers, etc.... I think the only people that I see specify programmers is you or Big.Last edited by roadman; 10-28-2013, 07:52 AM.Comment

If the poll was run from Forbes or CNN, I'd put more merit into it.
Plus, this was part of the article.
Is it deserved? No. If we’re being honest, it’s not. There are dozens of companies that are technically, legitimately, actually worse than EA in terms of how much harm they directly cause people, and many of them are on this list. Rather, Consumerist’s poll doesn’t gauge this. Instead, it’s a measure of how annoyed the internet is with a certain brand at the moment.
More on the article:
There are simply not enough equivalent communities on the internet where people go to complain about Bank of America’s fee structures or United’s carry-on bag policies en masse, except of course Consumerist itself.
They are not the worst company in America, nor are they evil.Last edited by roadman; 10-28-2013, 07:56 AM.Comment

Eh, nice try, doesn't count for me, they just reported what the Consumerist poll results discovered.

As a consumer, EA has a lot to win me over with Live and Madden, but to me, there are worse companies that I deal with vs EA.Comment

On a side note, we should be careful about wishing for certain things like botched/high snaps, because we all know how EA tend to implement things; everyone remembers Tyree's catch in the SB, an EA implemented that so that 50% of TE catches looked like that.Comment

I would like to see game play video soon though to measure how well the AI is, but realize they don't have an event like E3 to show off game play.Last edited by roadman; 10-28-2013, 09:16 AM.Comment

They've been working on the game for 2 years.
The biggest feature, true step, will only affect 1-2 players on the field.
Clint admitting to intentionally leaving out Sig animations and random moments like botched snaps because limitations to the game and catering to tourney players.
Presentation is basically unchanged, including the exact cut scenes as previous.
The guys like pasta and Ian who are disassociated with EA and have had hands on time with the game say it plays identical to current Madden.
We have some info to judge, a helluva lot of red flags , and history to go off so far. It's not encouraging at all.Last edited by kjcheezhead; 10-28-2013, 10:00 AM.Comment
