Exactly. The problem with Tiburons way of doing things is it lacks balance. If you're gonna do passing, you have to do EVERYTHING that is involved with the passing game, ball physics included imo. If it takes two cycles so be it, but they need to start working on the whole game, and not just compartments, because even when they focus on 1-3 things, they haven't gotten it right. I know, I know, "new team, new hardware", but I'm not sold yet. The footage I've seen so far isn't very inspiring. Honestly I have more fun talking about Madden then playing it, and watching footage of it. I really really hope that changes.

Wow, one at a time please, lol. Feels like Mike Tyson vs everyone.

BC21045- I'm not sure what Madden 16 will be like at this stage.

Royyounggoku- Maybe they could show game play, who knows though. It's just easier with E3 with all the media taping game play. As far as the secretiveness part, that's one part I do appreciate, the candor. Gives us a time frame to measure and go by. NG will be longer than a whole year. I'm just saying too early in NG to judge these newer people with a game that's not even on the street now and in the future.

Jet- Agree with most of your post, but the talent part, at this time and moment. Too early for me to tell without a game on NG out with all the crap coding they've had from the past.

Sounds like I should feel bad or sorry for a slightly positive beam of light opinion I have for the war in the trenches video.

I didn't mention those vids because imo they were 7-12 sec clips under very controlled conditions. They showed some nice animations, but the qb stood in one place, it never played out into a sack or qb scramble or anything really. I don't feel it's an accurate representation and to be fair I never mentioned the MNF vids either.

I could mention how the safety in one vid does a terrible hitch step and the awareness of the lb in zone coverage was suspect as well. Those vids had noticeable flaws even under EA controlled conditions.

Wouldn't that explain they are only going to have 1-2 players with true step, the ball carrier and the person you control on defense?

Yes, but that's what is unacceptable. They've been working on this next gen for 2 years. The only changes to the game are new line animations and true step. Now we find it took that long to the ball carrier and user defender to move correctly...and no one else? How do the new guys get a pass for that because they are a new team? That's ridiculous.

Maybe it was harder to rip out the old code and put in new code than anyone expected. We don't know because we are behind the scenes.

Best anyone can do is guess without having knowledge.

exactly. what good is realistic pocket time when DB's are warping to interceptions? Or having those glitch steps to catch up to wr's. The amount of times I have receivers wide open and then all of a sudden a DB catches up by 5 steps is ridiculous. You've all seen it... those side steps where the DB goes 7 yards in half a second. It makes no sense. Not to mention that at its current state DB's are just mirrors of WR's. How often do you get an INT and see the DB turn upfield as if he was the WR?

We need the entire passing engine to be re-written. IMO a realistic pocket will only make it worse.. Half the time receivers can only get open when the play is broken and the qb is playing 'madden ball' dropping back 15 yards.

I very much respect your opinion road.. I just don't understand the optimism given EA's extensive track record.

Understood, it's just a opinion or feeling. I hope I'm right, but know I could be wrong, too.

I think it was a combination of the war in the trenches and the interview of Rex and Clint by VSN. I would have expected a "we are making the best game we can" interview, but they both were pretty candid about the state of the game.

Only thing I hated about the interview was the 200 grand tourney answer. ISH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Unless I missed something, it sounded like the gameplay team was only fully focused on Madden 25 next gen after Madden 25 current gen released. They spent a lot of this past cycle working on NCAA 14 and Madden 25 current gen. I have yet to hear or read anywhere that they spent two years working on Madden 25 next gen. They spent two years working on certain elements of the Ignite engine, but the Ignite engine isn't just Madden its a combination of teams that work on it from different companies. So maybe they did work on True Step for two years, but they only worked on implementing it into Madden for about a year. As far as presentation goes? They haven't been working on that much at all during this cycle. I think most of the presentation improvements will be seen in the next year or two.

As far as additions being balanced for gen 4, they worked on the offensive pass blocking and the pass rush at the same time, so that's balanced.

People can say what they want about EA's track record but you also have to look at the track records of Cam and Rex, they've been pretty successful with the games they've worked on.

The biggest difference that people keep overlooking though is what's happening internally. There's a shift in the overall direction the franchise is headed and that more than anything is what has been missing since 2004.

This 100%. I really really do not understand EA. I really don't. I do not understand how they could not have worked on wr/db interactions for next gen Madden. This is only something we have been asking for most of last gen and all of this gen. I'm not gonna say the name of that other game that came out in 07, but the interaction in that game is amazing in comparison. Guys actually use a trail technique. That's a novel idea, players actually using techniques in football games. Madden still has route mirroring and CB's breaking on routes before WR's do. Come on EA!! A few months ago there was a thread asking what do you want to see in next gen madden. There were a bunch of people that wanted to see ol/dl interaction and wr/db interaction improved. I was sure that at the very least, both of those things would be addressed, especially since we have been asking for them to be improved since the PS2 era. I just don't understand.

The other day someone posted that we shouldn't be able to make a comparison to either of those other games, but unfortunately, there are still some things they do better than Madden and that is a shame since one of them is almost 10yrs old and on a legacy gen platform. I don't understand how they can keep doing this. I am literally sitting here trying to figure out what they were thinking by not fixing wr/db interaction. It's a basic part of football and it's still not right in Madden. I really would like to hear an in-depth explanation as to why it's taking them so long to get it right. I don't want to go so far as to say it's a lack of skill, but after 3 gens, what else could it be?

This is purely speculation, but they've had 3 or 4 different leadership teams with different priorities going in different directions and with other "internal" influences.

Hopefully, with this new regime, the Buck Stops Here and it's sim nation from here on out like Rex stated in the interview.

it must be. his join date is from a while ago. gives me a glimmer of hope that maybe our opinions and suggestions are being heard. Just wish they could answer hard questions like why animations are so poor or why the code has been historically so bad.
