This is an ancient carry over from Maddens long gone (it's in Madden 2000 for instance). It means importance to the team, so a 99 IMP rated quarterback used to mean that if they got injured, retired or traded then it could decrease morale of the other players (when Madden used to have morale). It used to affect ability to trade for players... like if you were to try and trade for JJ Watt it's next to impossible as he is likely a 99IMP player, unless you traded a 1st round pick and 2 super dev high IMP players also. I don't know how it influences Madden 16 as you can't see the IMP rating after the draft or for current players. Typically high round pics and high OVR rookies have higher IMP ratings and sometimes higher Personality/Popularity ratings. Higher IMP could also be linked to position, so a guard might have lower IMP than a similar rated WR.

There is apparently so much junk code, unused code and mysterious code left over in Madden as it carries over from year to year and that is why odd things happen in game.

Which is why myself and I'm sure others were hoping for a complete new build when it game to ps4 and Xbox one.

I love April - NBA Playoff basketball is starting, the NFL Draft is upon us, flowers are blooming, birds are chirping and JP is posting on OS again. What a time to be alive.

Unfortunately it's been a roller coaster of a year, major career change and now I'm going through a messy divorce, just hadn't really felt like posting on here and haven't had much time in a while. Hope everyone is doing well, i have high hopes for 17 but that's nothing new and nothing you guys haven't heard from me for years, so we will sit back and see what happens and I'll remain cautiously optimistic.

How can you say that? Just bc it's EASY doesn't mean it's the same team making the games.

Is there a way to view another game being played in franchise mode?

I'm talking like, simulate a game and watch it being played out. I have 32-team control in my franchise so I'm thinking there's some way?

When it comes to spending coach XP, is there accepted wisdom on traits or packages that are either clearly worth the money and are indispensable, or are clearly a waste of money and should be avoided?

I would get the extra scouting points first and avoid all the retirement stuff

First package I always buy is coaching traits discount, as it has a knock on to every other package, then trading package, scouting package (Scouting package makes landing decent players too easy on a single player CFM). I will try and purchase one or more development packages per season for positions much harder to develop (defensive mainly, CB, LB, and WR). I purchase retirement, resign and FA packages in or near the offseason depending on my plans if I have some XP leftover and really don't want to lose key players.

I start off by saving 25,000 to get the discount trait. This significantly reduces Game Prep traits from around 17,000 per position to 11,000-ish. Then, I purchase the increase player XP trait.

After that, I focus mostly on the Game Prep traits for one reason; they also give you discounts on player traits for the respected position.

For example, purchasing the WR Game Prep Trait when spending coach XP will reduce the amount of XP needed to unlock a WR's Aggressive, Possesion, RAC, and Drops Open Passes traits when spending player XP.
