    Thanks for feedback.

I thought I read that it was best to progress every 4 weeks?

Yes. That's how I have it.

Is there a way for me to know in game if I set this up correctly? Playing my first pre-season game. Should I be seeing the weekly goal progress updates at the bottom of the screen as I make plays? Or should that not be present if I set this up the right way?

Weekly Goals, as well as Season Goals and Milestone Goals, are fine. Those provide XP, but not confidence (and are actually quite important to a player's progression). Confidence is gained and lost normally at the end of games based on a player's performance. For example, if a QB throws for 4 TD's, he'll get a confidence boost. If he throws 3 INT, he'll lose confidence.

What you don't want to be seeing are notifications about Drive Goals, which usually show up in the playcall screen and also pre-snap.

Do I have to implement workaround 2 (retiring coaches etc.) in pre season?

Re: TUTORIAL: How to Disable Drive Goals For Solo CFM

In the workaround where you set 31 teams to autopilot and “un-autopilot” them for games against you I have noticed 2 things happen.
Firstly, no matter what CPU settings I had for that team, they will not sign any in-season free agents unless they drop below the roster minimum requirements… so will not pick up a recently cut veteran who can help the team, or a high rated guy who slipped through offseason free agency. They will sign offseason free agents, trade in-season and in the draft and have the normal team logic otherwise.
Secondly, with 31 teams set to autopilot the draft shoots to your pick so fast there is no chance of trading up during the draft. You can still trade down but it was a shock when I was planning on trading up and found in a few seconds I was already at my original pick.

                Couple of things:

                1. I *think* I have this setup correctly? Before Game 1, hit R3, create new coach for the team I'm about to play against. But then if I try to play that game as MY team I have to switch the coach I just made back to my owner in order to actually play with my team.

                Is this right?

                2. I don't see any "drive goal" notifications in-game, but how does this workaround actually prevent them from happening? I'm not complaining at all but seems like a weird workaround to prevent drive goals.

Like how did you know this would work?

There is no logic. We all think it is just a bug working in our favor.

                    Awesome Booker.

Also, just to make sure I'm not crazy, after we create the coach of opposing team, we need to change back to OUR owner or coach (whoever we're using) in order to actually play the game as the team we want.

                    Right?

                      Right?

Correct. After the game u need to go back to the "CPU" team to retire. That's all.

Booker--does it matter if the opposing teams coach shows up in the news feed after I retire him? Is that an indicator that I'm doing something wrong?

No. It will show him as retire but he is not. Just ignore that news.

Booker EA needs to compensate you for your service. I'm sorry but EA should be ashamed. People have wanted a good football game forever and the gameplay is great but the bugs are inexcusable. There are far better finished products that cost the same as Madden.

I still want a sports game to fulfill my need to have a GM mode to play. I guess I'll head to FIFA again or maybe try NHL.

I will keep playing the CFM as i started, without the tuner. (but in the back of my head, i still think i´m crazy for believing that those "bad" games were because of the tuner )
Yeah I think I'm going to go tuner free tonight and see how the game plays as well. I have to cut down the time of the game..I was at 15 min with the ACC clock going down to 15, but 44-41 over washington was a little crazy even for me so the confidence was a little high understandable (I was playing with A&S sliders) - so I think i'm going down to 12 min and ACC clock at 15 to tone down the arena league scores (Kenny Stills had a 10 confidence 7 due to winning player of the week) and Tannehill had 7 - so once i shed the numbers down and take off the tuner its good to go - Thanks Booker again!!

There is a small problem with this...I ran into with CFM...once I retire as say the owner of the team...next time I play that team...I will be unable to create another owner for that team, I have to create a coach...so, for division opponents...I will make it through exactly 1 season before I am SOL it seems. Is this right or did I miss something?
