Don't ever enable Dynamic Contrast to High, it's not recommended at all over on AVS for it will wash out the picture in high lighting and will lose detail.

Just say no to Dynamic Contrast High!!

I totally agree with any other set but with LG 2016 OLEDs it's literally required by the manufacturer for HDR game mode after the most recent update. Normally I say DC at all is trash, but it's required for the mode to function and it doesn't suffer from any of the DC issues either due to how the tone mapping is done.

                    Trust me

Edit: to clarify this is only on 2016 OLEDs

On 2017 OLEDs you're supposed to set it to Low for the same effect

There is a lot of misinformation in this thread - heck half of the pics posted aren't desirable. Grass is supposed to look like grass not neon paint spilt over the field.

Are you referring to the dim brightness when they are put into game mode? 2017 models have the same effect.

AVS people are referring to movies mostly. Those people literally spend their time watching terrible movies just because they have HDR. Madden looks awful without it, I don't care what AVS says.

What baffles me is they went to frostbite to share things across the board. Fifa and Battlefield run hdr correctly why is Madden lagging when they have the correct resources

I think in general, unless the manufacturer says so like in the above exception, you really don't want to be applying filters or artificial processing to the picture whether it's movies or games.

With that being said if you have tried it with it off and gave it some time to try to get used to it then have at it. I think the general idea though is many people try HDR or a new mode of viewing and if it doesn't look what they believe it should look like they start trying to boost it.

Just as an example, in just about every case I've read about on forums and from the pros you should use WARM mode to watch movies in. When I first tried it I hated it and preferred a COOL picture. But after I gave it a chance to let my eyes adjust to it now I agree that it is the best way.

A large part of a picture for many of us isn't what is technically best but what our eyes are used to seeing. So when it comes to the best picture, at least try giving it a lengthy chance to see if you adjust before just going to blasting the contrast, brightness or whatever to make the picture look like what you're used to.

P.S. the argument against Dynamic High Contrast is a loss of detail, for example in darker areas your blacks will be crushed. If you use it and don't find the loss of detail to be a problem then use it...but just keep in mind that this is the criticism of Dynamic High Contrast.
