Yea no one really knows what they mean by non-sim, all I know is if they were giving us 2k5 or APF they would have made a bigger deal about it. My guess is it’s something brand new to football video games. It will basically be my player rec center from 2k basketball but for football instead. Expect to see a new e sports league formed as well.

So you don't think that putting out this press release had anything to do with caring about it?

Or nothing to do with reminding customers they are still the number one NFL simulation?

I get the business part of what you're saying, but part of is because they care and wanted to let gamers know they are still in control of NFL gaming.

Yep. That’s what I said pages ago.

NFL version of nba 2k’s neighbourhood/rec/Pro-Am.

Then when EA’s exclusive deal is up, they add in the nfl part
        of the game.

2k is back dooring this, making the game backwards and sneaking its way in back to the nfl.

          No.

I think it was a pretty typical response any company would make in response to an announcement one of their competitors made.

I'm not looking at it that deep.

Non-simulated and more casual just means that we can rule out a franchise mode, and that we may or may not have real teams and/or logos at our disposable. Non-simulated or casual tells us nothing about the direction in game-play 2k is taking. They could basically make a game that's essentially 2k NFL ultimate team; it could have the most realistic game-play of any football game to date with current and past players ( like MUT has now ) and it would still be a "non-simulation game." What's EA going to do, sue 2k because their running animations are too fluid?

It's more like the NFL is doing EA dirty on that exclusivity deal--just openly inviting a competitor into the arena while the agreement is still in place.

It does 100% seem like 2k will eventually be making whatever NFL game they want to. If it was just going to indefinitely be some esoteric NFL game, why bring in 2k, the only other real AAA sports game maker out there (okay Sony SD too), to make this game?

Just to be a devil's advocate, what happens when 2K's "non-simulation" football turns out to be more sim than Maddens "simulation"football? Man, wouldn't that be something. Lol

APF2k with a franchise mode... arcade, defaulkt and sim settings.
Id be happy with an APF with NFL legends and fictional players.

NFL and 2k doing business now.. EA knows the world's population is about to be wiped out. the sports sim gamers of the world will never know what this actually means

I don't think so. I think they believe the casual game will be popular enough in it's own right and will actually eat in to EAs sales of Madden regardless of whether it is "sim".

This won't be a lame Playgrounds clone. This is going to directly target Madden gamers who want to play NFL but would actually prefer the casual and social aspects rather than knowing how well the game adheres to 3-4 gap assignments. I'm guessing this is a lot of people.

If anything I think this probably ends up forcing EA to take a similar direction with Madden. This is where the money is - as we see with NBA 2K and MyPlayer.

1st off I am super stoked of 2k making any type of football game. Now onto my opinion.

I believe 2k will make an nfl game that resembles what they did with nba playgrounds.

I also believe with ea deal with the nfl ending in 21 leaves the door open for 2k to get back into simulation football.

One other point I want to make is I hope whatever 2k puts out sells more than madden to show the nfl what they have been missing out on for the last 15 years.

Last point is I believe anything 2k puts out will be infinitely better than the garbage ea has put out for over 30 years. I can't wait to actually have a referee miss a call and the user gets to pick what they want to challenge and the system actually gets it right.

Oh yeah 1 more thing. EA can suck it! (DX Voice)

The more I think about it the more I think we will get a create a player park type mode and a My Team mode.

I am fine with this but would really like an All-Pro Football type of game with a franchise.

                            Thoughts?

Now what exactly what it will be, not sure. My guess is NFL Street esque. Which would still be pretty awesome.

Also, this could be a power move by 2K to blow the NFL's doors off with an offer for exclusivity when EA's expires.
Okay. I seriously doubt it will be a legit playable game of football. But we're both guessing, so neither of our words is more meaningful than the other's. What I'm most intrigued by is the possibility of the door opening for a 2K sim game in 2022 after working with the NFL for a year. I'm a realist and not holding my breath waiting for it to happen, though.
