The first year yes. But the exclusive ends in 2021 so hopefully the NFL doesn't renew an exclusive to EA and let both make a game.
Madden has had so many issues that the NFL even sees. Hopefully the NFL players complaining about it had something to do with this.
It's ridiculous that some issues that have been in the game for years still exist.

We don’t even know if there will be a booth team. This could be a card game for all we know

Just so you the exclusive license has been renewed by EA multiple times in the past 16 years

Terry McGovern (Dan Stevens) is 77 years old now, going on 78. He sounded dreadful in Axis Football 2018. It could be because of the way the developers went about putting him in, but he's definitely slowing. He didn't even sound great in APF 2K8 (very whiny and nasally, and that was only three years after 2K5).

I love them and want the golden years back myself, but unless we can rekindle them, I'm not so sure that's what I want. We'll see, though.

I don't know how old Jay Styne (Peter O'Keefe) is, but I'm guessing he is younger. He is still involved with NBA 2K.

I'm with you, but again it's gotta be done correctly.

If 2K wanted to make a simulation football game, they would have done it a long time ago. I guess I'm not like most here, I don't want the NFL interfering with football games. People put everything on EA, but from what I understand, the NFL has put their own restrictions on Madden - they aren't good for football games. So 2K being attached to the NFL doesn't get me excited.

I'm also not a fan of 2K sports games and I think they have declined (not as much as EA sports games) over the years, and I wasn't all that impressed with 2K5 which was even more broken than Madden 2005.

A great football game can already be made and these companies are still relying on marketing from 15 years ago. Just put out a solid football game with great gameplay/simulation and consumers the tools to edit/mod.

Dang, that sucks. I didn't know about their real life situation. I know one of them was the narrator voice on 2KU in one of the recent NBA 2Ks. 2K always does commentary well though, so if one of the games does have commentary I'm sure it'd be good.

It costs a fortune to make a AAA title. Companies want titles that spawn sequels or yearly revenue and as far as football goes customers want the NFL. NCAA doesn’t even sell enough without sharing tech with madden games.

I hate the NFLs business model but without the NFL football games are doomed to fail. Backbreaker with 1 release and 70,000 sales are what’s to be expected.

If you’re not a fan of 2k sports at least you have the option. I’m not a fan of madden and football gaming has been a graveyard for half my adult life now.

I don't doubt they'll come back if asked. I just hope they can squeeze the best out of Terry that is possible. Again, I realize that Axis Football placed him in with choppy commentary and maybe didn't direct him best as possible, but what you're hearing is an old man being old.

I always say to myself: "Yeah, but Jon Miller is getting up there and he still is sharp as a tack." Dude is only 68 years old. Can you believe that? You'd have thought he was nearing his eighties as well.

Here is "Dave Stevens" in Axis Football 2018:

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/3TCKRgX1XVE" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Comparing him to 2K (I'm going to actually use NFL 2K on Dreamcast to get the "choppiest" possible, but also the youngest we can hear him):

                  <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/pDxiTLJ9V9I" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture" allowfullscreen></iframe>

Jay Styne still sounds fine in NBA 2KU. Really, I do hope that they return. I just don't want our PBP to sound this worn out is all.

EDIT: Didn't even see there was a forum dedicated to NFL 2K, and didn't know it was essentially the first thread made about that tribute video lol.

LOL then maybe put out a football game that is good enough that you don't have to do it yearly? There are far more costly games that completely fail that AAA have tried over the years, sports games are at least known.

Again, 2K is a recognizable name. They would be fine. What they want is the likeness of NFL teams/players, which they could still get with their own creation - again, this isn't 1999, they can put out creation kits that could make their game look exactly like the NFL.

a reboot of NFL Street (2K style) would be amazing. That was one of my favorite games back in the day. IF done right, it can be amazing again. NO VC please.

Is this a concern? I'd assume most of the guys who developed 2k football are no longer around? That's a slight concern.

Lead AI Engineer (Shawn Lee) is still around. That's the only name that I looked up.

I just hope the overall game and gameplay designers still have some of the same thoughts in mind with where they last left off. They can rewrite code, but maintain a very similar vision.

Most of the top end developers who worked on 2k5 and 2k8 still work at 2k on NBA 2k. It’s pretty easy to do a cross reference with 2k5 credits and nba 2k20 credits.
