The 'Charge' as well. Always found that an innovative way to simulate building momentum and exploding into contact for ballcarriers and defenders when tackling. I'd imagine they had plans to expand on that.

I’m thinking this new agreement is a big reason why 2k and the NFL are opening the door. Right now it’s cracked and with money being the bottom line for the NFL/Players I think very soon the door is wide open.

I think now that the CBA is out of the way, it will only be a matter of time before we hear 2K has signed an NFLPA contract.

Agreed. More money opportunities for the players now. Also the NFL wants to make more. We as fans of games should win here.

With 2k coming back and moving into next gen, hopefully! I’m excited for the possibilities.

                  TIERED DEFENSIVE PLAY CALLING!!!!

I want it but I have no hope. The non sim casual pick and play press release leaves me no hope. Unless 2k is looking to actually teach people about football

So I wouldn't necessarily count EA as an automatic lock to outbid them and that's IF a bid is even needed.
I agree. They are in a way better situation than 15 years ago. They signed that 7 year 1.1 billion NBA license last year. We haven't heard EA renewing their NBA deal yet. 2k is in the position to have pay for both those major licenses. I only said bidding because traditionally NFL prefers exclusive branding. But in reality, I don't see a situation where Madden isn't around. They're too strong of a brand. If 2k gets the simulation license, it'll most likely be a non-exclusive license.

With CBA passed, I do see them getting a NFLPA deal done and announced very soon within next couple weeks.
Since the game is in early development and expected to come out next year, I expect to hear more details around June to August

I want them both, everyone wins if theyre both around, I want the days of one so called "sim" football game to come to an end.

Me too. Competition would be the best thing. You see how Madden and 2k is now and how not having legit competition affects those games. I truly believe that even if NFL 2k is "non-simulation" it will push Madden. I still find it funny that we NOW here about the simulation license and how fast EA was to chime in.

i guess, yet having a non sim football game from a company that knows what they're doing feels kinda pointless. we'll see soon enough though.

Competition killed off MLB 2K, NHL 2K, and EA Golf. Competition has nearly killed off NBA Live. None of those games were franchise ending bad games. But the way social media works, when you combine gamers and sports fans, you get a climate in which one game isn't just preferred, it becomes the crowning champ by vanquishing its opponent.

The notion that either EA or 2K wants to go head to head in football games is far-fetched. With an exclusive license, you might not make your numbers and really come in low. That's worst-case scenario. If you are going head to head with another AAA publisher, you might not sell 200K copies. You might not sell 100K copies.

It's a romantic notion that competition makes everything better. In the case of sports video games, I believe in the age of social media, competition benefitting both companies is impossible and is so slanted that regardless of the gap in quality, one will thoroughly dominate the other in sales.

I wish there were competition and multiple games per sport. I've seen no evidence, even on these boards, that the current climate would ever support two games.

With the amount of people who still praise 2k5 like it's STILL the better football game to this day and vehemently hate anything that Madden does, your last paragraph rings so true. At least for me.
