LOL but against a generic Oline? That's the thing. VC has Legend Olinemen in the game but they do not force you to take any of them because you can get along just fine without them. The thing that people fail to realize is all of those guys, Campbell, Emmitt ect., perhaps with the exception of Barry, it isn't like they had chumps blocking for them in real life.

the eagles stopped LT cold rushing and they're one of the worse in terms of talent to stop the run
it has to do more with playcalling , not personel.

San Diego's LaDainian Tomlinson was held to a career-low 7 yards rushing on 17 carries and failed to score, ending his NFL record-tying streak of consecutive games with a touchdown at 18.

17 carries 7 yards. Eagles linebackers = bums They have a hard hitting secondary, their dline is very soft.

I just had a guy run all over me with Rozier and nothing on his Oline. I have Greg Lloyd, Charlie Waters, Lem Barney, Albert Lewis, and Willie Wood. I stay in 4-4 and 4-3 Zones the whole game, and he ran 15 times for 185 yards. Then, we talked for about 15 minutes about how screwed up this games defense is. I may not give 2K more chance if they don't deliver on defense as well. I was a 2k4 and 2k5 head, but they gotta balance this game out to earn my business in the future.

As much as I've played online, I don't think I've had anyone rush for 150yds+ against me - and they were trying. And I've played a lot of games with teams I constructed primarily because they followed a theme - Steelers, Eagles, Bears, etc. And this is me playing with these teams with whatever playbook the game gave me. While the game isn't perfectly balanced it isn't completely out of whack either. I agree that legend defenders as a whole in the game should be tweaked some - but the same argument can be used for legend offensive lineman or even kickers and punters. If you're getting run over consistently I think you may need to look at your playcalling and the players you're putting together. Sometimes it's more important to have players that compliment each other well than trying to have a superstar at every position.

Wow. I finally got enough time to finish reading up to this point. There's a lot of gudt stuph in this thread.

I agree that perhaps a bit more could be done on Defense relative to the abilities of the Legendary Defenders. I still think that for the most part the Defense works just fine. I know it sure as heck works against me. Even when I try to go exclusive to the Run with Barry or exclusive with the pass to Jerry, it just won't work for long. I mix up my offensive plays all over the field using all available players.

By the way... Yeah, I'm a definite Bill Walsh Wannabe... But the West Coast Offense was built upon the Split Back Pro-Formation, not five wide receiver sets. Sure, you may have five eligible receivers, but from this set only two are WRs.

I have found that the game does not allow much wiggle room for the Offense when in Pro-Form. The Defense will regularly sniff out just about any play you choose, whether run or pass. This game forces you to play honest on Offense, to gradually set up the Defense for the fall. I am wary of the opposing Defense at all times. I always pick my points of attack very carefully, sometimes even attacking the strength of the Defense on purpose just to test it.

I haven't played much against Reggie White. Once I saw him on the field though, I dared not attempt either a roll-out pass or a sweep run in his direction the rest of the game. Ed 'Too Tall' Jones has stopped me for a loss more than any other Legend in the game. So when I see him on the D, I plan to leave him the heck alone too. Bad things man, bad things.

I also have all my generic DL and LBs set to run stoppers. I tried to have 3 legends on the Dline, 2 silver DTs and 1 bronze DE, and they really didn't make much of a difference. I also hate how my bronze receiver find the time to drop wide open passes, and how I can't rely on my generics. But thats another topic.

It was one game. Everybody has bad games last time I checked. Look at teams that consistently stop the run. The Steelers, the Ravens, the Chargers, the Bears. Really good personel.


I just held Ottis Anderson to 38 yards on 21 carries. My LB's and my SS are too fast to run on.

I just don't seem to have the trouble you guys do. I've only had 2 guys put over 100 yards on me in my last 30-40 games. I still won both because the backs were mostly contained, but I slipped and gave up a big run.

LBZRule, Freak is a FREAK. I played him again last night. His Defense is GOOD. I could not do much of nothing. I managed to somewhat control his offense(Which is good also) but he got a couple of big runs that hurt me. I couldnt score so it would not have mattered anyway, LOL.

I am really looking forward to playing him again. Fun game.


On a side note I played a guy who ran Walter Peyton to death and I was shutting him down. With 3 minutes left in the 4th quarter the score was 0-0. I had the ball and finally managed to put a drive together. When I got inside his 20, the guy disconnected. That behavior is frustrating the hell out of me. If people cant stand to lose why go online ?

Is your bronze WR Cliff Branch? If so that's why. Moore is a good option and so is John Taylor. Branch is a good deep threat, but as has been discussed before he avoids contact. He's the Travis Taylor or in Eagles terms the Todd Pinkston of the bronze group. He'll catch it if he is wide open down the field, but if there is someone around, he will not do a thing.

Yeah I know. His defense is my practice D. I score on him. But that's only because I know how he sets up his blitzes and what not. If I didn't know how he set up his blitzes, I think I could still move the ball because of a few things He's gotten a lot better defensively and that's a bad thing because his defense was good from the beginning lol. Offensively he has always been good, especially running. Give him Barry or Gale Sayers and he'll make you HATE them.
