Seriously? You DO realize it'll be Roger Goodell making that decision, right? There's no WAY they WON'T punish him. That's setting a very bad precedent to not suspend a guy who is convicted in a federal courtroom of a serious crime.

And suspending him now doesn't do any good because he can't play anyway. Trust me...when his prison sentence is over, I just don't see Goodell and the NFL welcoming him back with open arms. There's going to be SOMETHING done at that time.

At first when all of this stuff went down I would have disagreed with you, but like with all things, time seems to lessen the anger on subjects and I agree with you now, no need to punish him twice.

You guys are forgetting...any suspension handed down from the NFL won't begin until after he's out of prison. We're talking more like 4-5 years out of the NFL before he's allowed back in. I'd be shocked if the NFL gives him less than a 1-year suspension, possibly 2.

I doubt that. He's technically already been suspended for a year. Any suspension after he's released from prison will be overkill and unneccessary.

Yeah, when it first went down, I was thinking NFL suspension on top of his jail time. Then after it all went down, I feel differently.

I really don't think Goddell will do anything, if he does, I will be surprised. I guess we can revisit this topic in 2 years. LOL

While I believe the prison sentence given to Vick is fair, I don't believe an additional suspension given after he served his time would be fair. Hopefully any suspension handed down from the NFL would be served concurrent with the prison sentence.

Remember, our justice system is set up for reform over punishment (although most would argue that fact). The NFL should give the man the right to earn his living after he has served his time.

Anyone in the NFL who breaks the law and is suspended because of it is technically being punished twice though. They get punished by the judicial system, be it probation or a fine or what have you. Then, they get suspended by the league. Take Chris Henry for example. Or Pacman Jones.

You're saying that because he's actually serving prison time, suspending him from the NFL for a period of time is overkill. I think it's the same thing as when guys like the ones I mentioned are suspended in addition to having to face a court of law.

I have no sympathy. He is a thug and not only did he do illegal acts, the guy was dumb enough to continue to smoke weed when he needed to be on his best behavior. Genius.

At least the guys in jail knows he has herpes and not the unsuspecting girl(s) he gave them to...

No it won't, he violated his conduct clause and in doing so put himself at the mercy of the NFL Commissioner. He should never be allowed back into the NFL. Baseball set the precedent with banning Pete Rose for life over gambling related offenses, there is nothing too different about this to mitigate the offense that isn't outweighed by the severity of his actions. He ran an organized gambling ring that also involved the torturing, mutilation, and murder of animals. I can only hope he gets his in prison.

I dunno, I just find it funny that Ray Lewis can kill a man and not get any jailtime or even a suspension and Michael Vick gets involved in albeitly a very serious dogfighting ring and people are calling for him to get much more. Do we have more sympathy for dogs than we do for men that get stabbed?

Ray Lewis didn't kill anyone, nor was he accused of killing anyone.
