Dog fighting is bad and I'm not gonna pretend it's not, but it's not a whole lot different than people who hunt and don't eat what they kill. And this is coming from someone who hunts (I eat what I kill, however).Comment

Not necessarily man. My boss has had two pitbulls for 10 years. They are the friendliest dogs you'd ever meet, have never bit a singe person or dog. It's all about how you bring them up.
So don't demonize the entire breed because some people like to use them as their own personal punching bag.Comment

i agree. ive been around quite a few of them. they are friendly dogs if you raise them right. I wouldnt own one, but they can be friendly, although they are very high maintenence in their upbringing.
but the ones that these guys were fighting were not friendly. They were bred as weapons. I will say that they need to put to a stop to the aggressive breeding of pit bulls for fighting. That deserves a harsher penalty. and i can see why organizing a dog fighting ring has a harsh penalty, because if you take away the fights, there is no reason to breed them to be killers. It is obviously all linked.
but Vick had no prior history and was not doing this for money. There was no reason to throw the book at him. It would have helped society more if they would have given him less time and made him do community service and talk to kids.Last edited by ZB9; 12-10-2007, 04:09 PM.Comment

On a serious note, I have never liked Vick, hes just messed up in my eyes and I'm sorry if you don't agree with me. Maybe 23 is excessive, but still anyone who thinks this crime isn't hanus needs some help. Do you realize how messed up you have to be to ENJOY torturing dogs. The actual dog fighting happens all the time, its the fact that he and his buds personally killed a lot of them in disgusting painful ways that made the sentence the length it was. No normal person enjoys doing that to anything whether it be an animal or person. BTW the #1 sign for knowing if a person will grow up violent or is indeed very violent inside, is if they torture animals and ENJOY it. Disgusting.
