Re: Mike Vick sentenced to two years in prison
Godell and Blank shouldn't be asking him any questions anyway. They know the feds are on it so just let it play out.
The one thing I don't like about the whole thing is that I thought the Feds raided his place looking for drugs?Comment

Re: Mike Vick sentenced to two years in prison
Right....so why bother putting drug dealers, murderers or even common thieves in jail since doing that won't make people safe everywhere.
Good logic.
How about we just start with dogs being safe in that little part of the world and we'll work from there?

Where's the fun in that? It's much more exciting to do something despicable, lie about it, and avoid going to prison for it.Member of The OS Baseball Rocket Scientists AssociationComment

Re: Mike Vick sentenced to two years in prison
One thing that does bother me about this whole thing is taxpayers are the ones who foot the bill for Vick's incarceration. Couldn't we have just fined him a few million dollars (give it to PETA or something), and then force him to do 500 hours/year of volunteer work at the humane society for the next 5 years? Maybe make a reality TV show with Michael Vick washing puppies, with all the proceeds going to animal shelters across the country. Instead, we're giving him free meals, room, & board... paying guards to keep an eye on him, and the other prisoners off of him. Just doesn't make a lot of sense. Are the streets really that much safer without Michael Vick?Comment

Re: Mike Vick sentenced to two years in prison
I have no problem with the sentence. Seems to me that based on the sentencing guidlines he's got a term somewhere in the middle. I figured anything from 18-24 months would be fair. After seeing what his cohorts got, I figured 20-23 months was the likely scenario. Nice to see an athlete not get off scot-free for once. Although I think had he not been Mike Vick, he probably would have gotten closer to the max 5 years.
I do find a great deal of humor in the people trying to portray Vick as a victim in all this. That truly is funny.Comment

Re: Mike Vick sentenced to two years in prison
I wouldn't say his career is over. The biggest problem I thought with Vick was his immaturity and unwillingness to get better--relying on his physical gifts instead. Out of prison, he may become a much mature, hardworking person. It depends on how he handles it.
I've seen some guys come out of prisons for much worse crimes and be very successful human beings. One of those ended up being a coach/mentor for me and ended up having a profound impact on my life and other at risk kids.
At 30, he will have is physical skills and the speed of the game was never a problem. If his dedication increases, this may be a blessing in diguise."Maybe I can't win. But to beat me, he's going to have to kill me. And to kill me, he's gonna have to have the heart to stand in front of me. And to do that, he's got to be willing to die himself. I don't know if he's ready to do that."Comment

Re: Mike Vick sentenced to two years in prison
After watching Tim Tebow's Heisman acceptance speech, I'm reminded of how different the born again Christian QB is from Vick, but Tim would be the first one to welcome Vick back to society and even pro football.Comment

Re: Mike Vick sentenced to two years in prison
I wouldn't say that. There's a good chance he can get back into the flow. It'll be all up to him though. Even though people are saying he's finished at Atlanta I don't even know if thats true. Unless they can pick good in the draft next year they'll be hurting for a QB for a while.Comment
