Now that it is 2 years, Is Goodell still gonna want to make the NFL suspension separate for him? I bet even he thinks the federal punishment is too severe

I doubt he thinks the federal punishment is too severe.

That being said, I would be surprised if he piles on an added punishment after Vick is released. As it stands now, he's looking at missing 3 years of football, and will have served his debt to society. Vick's career is effectively over as it stands now. I don't see what there is to gain from adding to his punishment at this point.

A child and a pet have very similar utilitarian values.

And a tree has far more utilitarian value than either a child or a pet, if not more than any human. Are lumberjacks one step away from killing babies?

I would disagree that a tree has very high utilitarian value whatsoever, furthermore itself unprocessed it has very little value whatsoever, other than aesthetic which isn't a very valuable utilitarian value - that's why supermodels aren't as prized as doctors.

Please seek counseling if you are NOT joking about this. Research has been done that shows children who harm animals can grow up into abusive adults. Your posts make it seem like you are messing around, because you bring nonsensical arguments into play. Either do some reading, or some growing up before you come in spouting what you have.

Back on to the Vick topic: What he did is wrong, and cannot be classified as a "mistake." Dude needs to learn his lesson, not just from fighting dogs, but also learning to surround himself with the right people... Not a bunch of old friends that have no clue what his life is like, and drag him down.

Personally I think he's done in the NFL (thank god, I never liked him) but I am hoping that the years in the clink will teach him what he needs. As naieve as I sound (and I know it's very much so right now) I'd rather see him succeed as a person if he can get it through his thick head that he's dragging himself down.

If Vick got 23 months just for dogfighting then I would say the punishment is too severe. But you've got to factor in all the gambling charges and the fact that he failed a marijuana after he plead guilty. Those things factored in and the 23 months isn't really unfair.

Why? "Utilitarian value" is the most stupid way to judge a living being. Going by "utilitarian value", a bottle of water during a drought is more valuable than a human. $10 to me has more "utilitarian value" to me than anyone on this board, but that doesn't mean I'm going to kidnap Acid and sell him to a human trafficker for $10.

Yeah, he BANKROLLED the entire thing. Without Vick this wouldn't have happened (they wouldn't have had the cash to pull it off)...that's a big deal, the money guys at the top usually take a hard fall, harder than the peons.

LoL why'd he even have to take a piss test? It had nothing to do with his charges anyways... Its so easy to pass a PISS test I don't see how pro atheletes fail them. You can literally smoke the night before and still pass the test.
